Very nice interview and loved the way the interviewer let Qasim bhai do all the talking ... Beautifully done .. And ofcourse as Indian cricket fan we hated Iqbal Qasim bhai how could such a bowler with simple action dismantle that Indian strong batting line up?. I think the reason was in the answer - "simple action" .. Good health Qasim bhai may you live long and spread the knowledge of cricket.

😮Still remember when Iqbal Qasim clean bowled Geoff Boycott at Karachi . Also it was unfair when Bob Wills got upset as Iqbal Qasim as a tailender frustrated England and a ball from wills was hit on his lips . Mike Brearly did apologize but Qasim sir missed this match . Appreciated his pure simplicity. Class bowler of our times . 😊

Kasim ji has won a million heart with this candid interview. He was a good bowler and a very honest man..Actually his two catches in Banglore test were out of the World. But the LBW appeal against Gavaskar in such hugely turning track was fake. And also the catch a
was a fake appeal. The catch, as revealed from replays, was taken cleanly but the ball had not touched Gavaskar's bat or gloves at all..It was a deflection from pad.

Enjoyed the conversation. It took me back to 1987 and I could see it happening in my mind's eye. It was a Test match that was on a razor sharp edge on the last two days. Every single run was applauded and every wicket that India lost was a cause for mourning. And yes, those who were lucky to watch Gavaskar bat would never ever forget it. It was a perfect coaching manual on how to play spin on a minefield of a pitch. I remember Azharuddin took 8 runs in the first over of the final day bowled by Wasim Akram and Imran never gave him another over. It was left to Tauseef Ahmed & Iqbal Qasim to make the batsmen dance on that dicey pitch. Easily the best Test ever between India & Pakistan. I remember Imran Khan calling players after almost every Test. There was Ejaj Fakih who was friendly in and he got a hundred. Then, there was one Younus Ahmed, a 40 year old who was a veteran of County Cricket. He was a left handed opener. Imran Khan had such a clout in Pakistan cricket that he could do anything he wanted. He was a One Man Board; Captain, Coach, Selector, Mentor ..all in one. Another interesting thing from that Test match is an anecdote that is quite popular. Imran Khan called up Rizwan-uz-Zaman who would be standing at silly point and told him just to watch Gavaskar bat. His footwork, balance, how he handles the turn and how late he leaves the ball. In typical Imran style he said, " Tum catch toh bhool jao, koi chance nahi milega lekin tum Gavaskar ka footwork dekhe aur seekhe."

At the time of Bangalore Test l was in class 5, the annual examination was going on in my school. I was always asking my father about scores as soon as l came home. When Imran Khan's team came to India in January '87, I can't describe that atmosphere, what a wonderful, unforgettable moments it was. Imran Khan probably also endorsed Cinthol soap at that time. Which was always shown on Doordarshan. Sir your precise inputs are very effective and interesting. I still remembered the winters of '87 after seeing your comment it become alive. Now I don't like cricket that much. But love the memories of those times.

Unprepared pitch in Bangalore & 5 th & last test Pakistan all out 116 then India 145 all out then second innings Pak all out 241 & Spinners took wickets all in both sides Wasim Akram took first two wickets of second Innings & rest spin did it & Sunil Gavaskar scored 96 in his last innings he played . Pakistan won by a few runs & clinched the series 1-0 & ODI’s also they won easily . Iqbal Qasim & Tauseef Ahmed bowled & took 9 wickets each in that entire match . He’s absolutely right , I remember umpire lifted the finger & then changed the decision in second innings of that Bangalore test . Qasim was promoted to bat ahead by Imran khan & things worked .

The other player who conversed with Karsan Ghavri must be Anshuman Gaekwad. They must have thought that Pakistanis would understand Hindi so they switched to to Gujarati.Obviously, they didn't realize that Pakistan had a few Gujarati players in theri side. Actually, Ghavri played only Karachi Test in the series and, interestingly, there were more Gujaratis on Pakistani team than Indian team. Javed Miandad and Pakistan Captain Mushtaq Mohammad were other Gujarati players.

Secondly, the word "mentally" in itself means دماغی طور پر so "mentally طور پر" makes no sense at all.

He's wrong in calling Indian bowlers ordinary against zaheer abbas. The fact is that mainly Kapil was the destroyer of Pakistan batsmen able supported by pacer Ghavri and all the spinners. India truly outplayed them. Actually in 1978 series in Pakistan, they had so shamelessly and blatantly cheated through their home umpires Shakoor Rana and Khizar Hayat that when they came to India in 1979 and played without their cheating umpires that they were exposed and lost the series. In one 50 over match Bedi even had to concede a winning match due to horrible umpiring.
