@@gerhardschoschdinger1434 Das wird nicht reichen. Normale Kolben sind aussenrundgeschliffen und dann wird das kolbenhemd meisst beschichtet. das ist hier nicht möglich. der zylinder wird normalerweise auch gehont was hier vermutlich auch nicht möglich ist.

Hüttlin nicht so ehrlich gewesen zu erwähnen, dass der wichtigste Grund für das Aufgeben seines ursprünglichen Konstruktionsplans darin lag, dass er ihn nicht patentieren lassen konnte, da es sich zumindest in Teilen um ein Plagiat einer Konstruktion von Frank Berry (USA 1961) handelte.

Genialer Kopf! Die Kolbenbewegungen sind zwar immer noch oszilierende Abläufe mit Totpunkten, aber irdendwie harmonischer - wie Muschelschalen oder Herzkammern. Die fliesenden Bewegungen erinnern mich stark an Epi-Hypo-Getriebe und an das Oloid.
Super innovation: hoffe für Sie das es angenommen wird. Das grosse Problem bei Verbrennungsmotoren sind immer die Abdichtungen, (Sternmotor) aber auch alle anderen. Wurden schon langzeit-Tests gemacht? Das Prinzip ist genial - Man muss kein Ingenier sein um zu verstehen das die Kraftübertragungen im vollem Umfang bei diesem System gegeben sind. Je gleichmessiger, homogene Kräfte auf die Materie, in diesem Fall der Motor verteilt sind, desto höher ist die Kraftausbeute, wenn Sie von einer einzigen Kraftquelle, in diesem Fall Explosionsenergie in eine Welle übertragen wird. Viel besser wie beim Kolbenmotor. Würde gerne eine Langzeittest auf You Tube sehen!
this is a fascinating engine,,, i am just wondering if the vibrations would shake it to bits or if the would phase cancel each other out but not doubt that there would definitely be stress and fatigue.. not to mention what its effiency would be... interssting. It appears to look as expensive as a Satellite with all the machine work all over the place...Mass production seems totally impractical....all the moving parts and sealing areas and small holes and ports to clog....WTF ?
It has less moving parts actually but after all these years when I never heard of a progress I think the framing shows it less inpractical than it actually is.
These types of "new concepts" come and go and come and go. The was an "orbital" engine that came out 35 years ago that was going to revolutionize everything blah blah blah. Believe it when you see it in a real car.

Mazdas RX Modelle sind zwar nicht die beliebtesten gewesen, haben allerdings viele liebhaber gewonnen. Ein Kugelmotor hat noch kein Fahrzeug angetrieben... zumindest kein vermarktetes.
@jeppoification There is a slight issue... This engine works for about 2 minutes and "burns out". There is not enough space to create a cooling system. Also the vibration is another BIG trouble. At UNICAMP - Brasil we´ve built this engine (a little modded prototype in 1999) and we ended up tearing all 46 windows of the building. This engine power is outstanding but you can see that it simply does not work (for long :P )
So if it's so great why don't they even have a working model? wtf. They spend time and money building a hand-crank version but not the real thing. Too complicated and requires a huge sealing area. Not practical

The whole power is applied to a few small ceramic balls, which roll inside grooves and make the pistons to reciprocate (in relation to each other) while turning and producing torque. Complex pistons (not cylindricall), surfaces and engine overall, Only if test results will be published incl. stress tests, efficiency, HP etc that prove 2B a LOT better than a conventional engine it will have some hope..

naja wenn es mal im solar bereich was besseres gibt so kann man das dach damit ausstatten so das bei sonne der akku geladen wird und das auto nur durch solar fahren kann und bei bewölkung läuft es gemicht jenachdem wie viel strom das solar generiert und bei nacht nutzt es den akku^^ so könnte man bei sonnen schei statt 400km schon 800+ schaffen oder wen es 100% durch sonne macht theoretisch bis die sonne untergeht und dann noch 400km^^ oder es tut sich was am batterie markt so das ein auto keine 800 kilo batterie mehr braucht sondern eine handliche und diese ist bei jedem e auto gleich dann würd so gehn du gibst deine alte bei der tanke ab und holst dir für 10 euro ne neue und die tanke lädt die alte auf^^ so würd tanken in wenigen minuten gehn^^ (es sollten jedoch genug batterien bei der tanke sein^^^)

Dann besser Wasserstoff. Kommt nur Wasser hinten raus. Besser als die ganze E-Auto-Augenwischerei.

Beim (reinen) E-Fahrzeug hört man bis heute nur eines: Reichweite und Wiederaufladedauer inakzeptabel!

@qp12qp Thats a little bit limmited in view point, the main reason that electricity isn't used in independant transit is as you say storage but also delivery. For example the engin in my car engin produces a peek power output of 110kW, in aproximate electrical terms if the motors work at 1000volts(not very safe in the rain, also above the rateing of common used insulators) it would require 110 amps. That would require min 7mm(probably more depending upon length) solid conductors (DC).
schöne Idee. Vielleicht wird's ein Nischenprodukt aber mehr sollte man nicht erwarten. Verbrennungsmotoren, welcher Art auch immer, werden langfristig von Elektromotoren verdrängt und das ist auch gut so.
First, I thought the kugelmotor is extremely efficient because there are no "up and down" movement of the piston - however, the open and close cycles and division of power vector on the rollers make it too inefficient
or so you think, you can't pull a Tractor-Trailer across the US with electric power only, it is improbable, not to mention it would cost and weight to much. Maybe small family cars will completely switch, but there will not be a true complete conversion to electric vehicles in our life times, if ever!
I would not call the Tesla Model S a small Family car. And Battery technology is improving. Socalled Lithium-Air-batteries promise a lot. You might want to google "IBM Battery 500".

To answer your question 1 it was kindof a joke 2 not all engines can be forced inducted, atleast without severely compromising durability. This could be because the materials used in the engine cannot support the extra combustion pressure or temperatures. The compression in the engine could be too high already and forced induction would cause knocking or detonation. The fuel system could also not be robust enough to support the extra fuel required for forced induction. There are other reasons, but you can reference the videos of the many turbo charged Honda civics blowing up here on RUclips. Before you respond to that know it too was also a joke.

Looks complicated and expensive to build, and the parts most likely to wear and need replacement seem to be things that you'd have to completely disassemble the whole thing even to get a look at. I would think the American auto manufacturers would totally love this-- A car that would cost a lot, run for about a year, and then be unredeemably junk! A perfect companion to the six-month dvd player and the four-month smartphone.

Really cool, and compact design! But the days of internal combustion engines are coming to a close. If anything, this Kugel motor will allow for more space for batteries in hybrid vehicles until we go 100% electric.

Wäre vielleicht was für tragbare Hochleistungs-Feuerlöschpumpen. Der Motor sieht nicht besonders schwer aus.

I get the feeling that this is a disposable engine. Rebuilding it without sophisticated cnc machines would be nearly impossible.

naja wenn es mal im solar bereich was besseres gibt so kann man das dach damit ausstatten so das bei sonne der akku geladen wird und das auto nur durch solar fahren kann und bei bewölkung läuft es gemicht jenachdem wie viel strom das solar generiert und bei nacht nutzt es den akku^^ so könnte man bei sonnen schei statt 400km schon 800+ schaffen oder wen es 100% durch sonne macht theoretisch bis die sonne untergeht und dann noch 400km^^ oder es tut sich was am batterie markt so das ein auto keine 800 kilo batterie mehr braucht sondern eine handliche und diese ist bei jedem e auto gleich dann würd so gehn du gibst deine alte bei der tanke ab und holst dir für 10 euro ne neue und die tanke lädt die alte auf^^ so würd tanken in wenigen minuten gehn^^ (es sollten jedoch genug batterien bei der tanke sein^^^)

Waste of time. The more moving parts a motor has the more they are subjected to wear and tear. And who knows if it outlasts other conventional engines in terms of reliability.

Ich finde Verbrennungsmotoren sind ohne Zukunft. Daher verstehe ich es nicht, wie sich Forscher immer noch in solche Themen vertiefen können. Das Kapitel gehört endlich abgelöst! Ich sage Euch, Wenn die Inder oder Chinesen auf die Idee kommen, auch alle Auto fahren zu wollen und wir haben immer noch die Verbrennungsmotoren dann können wir uns warm anziehen... denn dann laufen wir wieder!
Mann beschäftigt sich damit weil:
- man sich schon viel zulange auf den Ottomotor versteift hat
- die Akku Technologie einfach noch zu sehr in den Kinderschuhen steckt
- sich zuwenig mit alternativen "Energiequellen" beschäftigt
- die Elektromotor Technologie ebenfalls noch nicht ausgereift ist
- eine Öl Lobby kein interesse an einer abkehr von Fossilenbrennstoffen hat

***** Die Umweltbilanz eines E-Fahrzeugs ist nach wie vor miserabler als die eines reinen Verbrenners. Allein die bei der Herstellung freigesetzten Schadstoffe - da kann man locker nen Jahr mim Verbrenner fahren und is immer noch besser dran. Erstmal muss sich in der Herstellung und Kapazität der Akkus entscheidend etwas verbessern, ansonsten ist das E-Auto keine Alternative. 1000 Ladezyklen und der Akku muss getauscht werden...das ist nicht machbar. Dann besser Wasserstoff. Kommt nur Wasser hinten raus. Besser als die ganze E-Auto-Augenwischerei.
***** Beweisen Sie das Gegenteil! Sie fahren auf E-Autos ab, obwohl die Entwicklung noch bei weitem nicht so weit ist, dass ein solches Fahrzeug Massentauglich wäre, geschweige den umweltfreundlich. Betrachten Sie nicht nur das System welches am Ende auf vier Rädern steht, sondern den kompletten Herstellungsprozess! Da gibt es wie gesagt deutlich bessere Alternativen wie z.B. Wasserstoff als Treibstoff. Über Elektrolyse kann man dann sogar zusätzlich zum Wasserstoff noch Sauerstoff gewinnen, da hier simples Wasser als Rohstoff dient. Über Verbrennungsmotoren gibt es zig Studien zur Effizienz, was machbar ist und was nicht, wo noch potenzial drin ist und wo nicht. Beim (reinen) E-Fahrzeug hört man bis heute nur eines: Reichweite und Wiederaufladedauer inakzeptabel!

@qp12qp Thats a little bit limmited in view point, the main reason that electricity isn't used in independant transit is as you say storage but also delivery.
For example the engin in my car engin produces a peek power output of 110kW, in aproximate electrical terms if the motors work at 1000volts(not very safe in the rain, also above the rateing of common used insulators) it would require 110 amps.
That would require min 7mm(probably more depending upon length) solid conductors (DC).

schöne Idee. Vielleicht wird's ein Nischenprodukt aber mehr sollte man nicht erwarten. Verbrennungsmotoren, welcher Art auch immer, werden langfristig von Elektromotoren verdrängt und das ist auch gut so.

To answer your question 1 it was kindof a joke 2 not all engines can be forced inducted, atleast without severely compromising durability. This could be because the materials used in the engine cannot support the extra combustion pressure or temperatures. The compression in the engine could be too high already and forced induction would cause knocking or detonation. The fuel system could also not be robust enough to support the extra fuel required for forced induction. There are other reasons, but you can reference the videos of the many turbo charged Honda civics blowing up here on RUclips. Before you respond to that know it too was also a joke.

not sure i think this engine would be quite expensive to make with many curved surfaces so dont think it went anywhere.

Seems to be a variation of the swashplate motor. Might be interesting, but going from lab to production can be tricky.
Genial auf jedenfall, aber ist er wirklich einfacher herzustellen als ein Hubkolbenmotor? Die Leistung beim Prototypen hört sich auf jeden Fall sehr gut an.
Laut Wikipedia wurde der erste Kugelmotor 1961 von einem Frank Berry zum Patent angemeldet. Nach dessen Tot 1969 geriet der Motor aber in Vergessenheit.
2002 wollte Hüttlin dann seinen Motor anmelden. Doch auf dem Patentamt bemerkte man, dass da jemand schon vorher drauf gekommen war...
Looks complicated and expensive to build, and the parts most likely to wear and need replacement seem to be things that you'd have to completely disassemble the whole thing even to get a look at. I would think the American auto manufacturers would totally love this-- A car that would cost a lot, run for about a year, and then be unredeemably junk! A perfect companion to the six-month dvd player and the four-month smartphone.

Really cool, and compact design! But the days of internal combustion engines are coming to a close. If anything, this Kugel motor will allow for more space for batteries in hybrid vehicles until we go 100% electric.
How do you lubricate something like that without it blowing oil out everywhere? Look at it and think about it.
