I won’t be following along in 3D, but your “how to learn blender” video has been really helpful in self orienting myself and figuring out what I’m actually gonna try to do, timelines, scope, purpose, the whole thing. So I’m grateful for that.
And while this may be an “it is what it is” situation, I’m really sorry about your loans. I really wish college wasn’t pushed onto us during that point in our lives when we don’t have a clear enough direction nor, y’know, the money to pay it off?

I started with Blender when 2.8 was just released. I spent tens of hours learning the basics and another tens of hours sclupting people in Blender. But I never got anything done. I started something but never finished it. I hope that I can finally get something off the ground with blend 365.

As a Swedish citizen, doing a study course is free! Plus you can get free money (A certain amount) from the govt during your studies so you can pay the rent and or buy food. If you need more money, you can take a special loan from the govt and the payback rate is very very low.

been back and forth on using blender since 2020 (still havent finish the donut course yet) NOWs the time to finally do it for real to achieve my dream to sculpt and animate!
I'll give it a try, but I'm afraid my old laptop won't be able to handle the more complex stuff like lights and high quality textures etc. But for now I'll happily join! Maybe it won't be too bad (maybe I will ask my friends to render stuff for me lol)

tbh smeaf, i have been following you around 2 years and yes i love how the way you teach, and I come from India which is 3rd world country and from that also i belong from Tier 3 city, i mean it's really to say , it's really hard to grasp 3d but yes i'm pretty much on the journey.
I’m sort of all over the place, I’m thinking of taking a motion graphics course, and also the new masters Academy drawing course, my interest is in story boarding illustration being able to make some traditional pieces and 3-D modeling. I feel like all the technical stuff of 3-D animation scares me a little bit, so I don’t know if I’ll ever want to do more than 3-D modeling.(but also I’m assuming that’s easier than all the other stuff) but I could be.

this is not the same as doing an art course at any level which can inform your understanding of art and all the things that can be applied to Blender and 3D but yes you can Learn Blender and 3D without doing a course, but there are positives to doing creative courses for their own reasons, do not dismiss it outright! but always look at your options! Good luck with this! :)

The real lie here is that someone can learn on their own and a game company will take them seriously enough to hire them. The game companies only look at your education they do not look at your portfolio that's a fact. If you cannot prove you went to a reputable animation school they will not hire you, and that's a fact of life.
