    In this video, I demonstrate how better footwork can help minimize early extension. I explain how incorrect pressure distribution, especially in the trail leg, hip, and knee, leads to this problem. I emphasize the need to maintain pressure on the back part of the ball of the foot, avoiding the arch and toes. I also share a drill using a golf ball placed under the trail foot to create a leverage point. This helps in managing pressure during the backswing and downswing, ensuring proper leg and hip movement. The drill aims to provide space for the chest and arms to move properly through your motion and minimize early extension.

    Really like this description, I have struggled with early extension. Watching this I realized I do not extend the back leg as I turn in the backswing, keeping it more in that initial stance position. Feeling that extension in the hip and leg as I turn back really helps me get that increased space and clearance on downswing. Anxious to try this soon.

    One thing that I will add is that for someone who is struggling with early extension (I have before), it is important to realize that for you, proper hip movement will feel like you aren't moving your hips at all in the downswing.

    Wow - Feels like I would get much better hip flection ( and you squat more naturally because your body catches you) which I was told I am missing? Great stuff.

      Thank you! Greatly appreciate it! I hope this helps! Trail hip flexion/ extension is a fun topic to dive into!

    You're correct but if the player has the false belief that the clubhead must or should move as vertically as possible they'll continue to early extend. The understanding and intention of the swing has to change as well.

    • @tsgolf
      @tsgolf  9 месяцев назад +1

      That I would agree with 100%! If the club is working vertically, this would also be a very difficult drill to accomplish. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts! Nice work and input here! 👊👊👊

    15 years ago l left the game and toward the end of last year, l started hitting balls to get back on. When l left l had a fade or slice when l screw it up but l like the fade. Coming back l find my ball flight as a hook/draw. Well, the eyes ain't liking it lol but no it's good l am working on getting my fade back. l still get good distance with my power fade to play well. l think my hook/draw is due to the body stopping and the hands overtaking due to my body not being up to par physically cause l was sore like heck on my hips/core etc but not l had been stretching/strengthening and all good just gotta push forward. l will try that drill because my right side (trail) gets too happy to help sometimes lol.

      My thoughts and prayers are with you my friend 🙏🏻🙏🏻 I had them for nearly a year when I was younger. I finally realized I was standing too close to the ball. My mind-body awareness had become skewed for some reason. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    So both lead and trial leg should be straightening in downswing not staying flexed ? I assume this will help flatten the shaft pitch so you dont bury it in the floor if you are steep. Thats usually what causes it to start with as i understand it?
    Also where does the turn come into this ? Or does that happen due to the movement your making ? As in you dont have to actively try to open the hips ?

    • @tsgolf
      @tsgolf  9 месяцев назад +1

      The lead leg will and can push either through or just after impact. The majority of the turn in the pelvis will come from how the trail side moves from a directional push like this and or the internal rotation of the trail femur/ leg

    Nice.
    I also think people who early extend collapse the right arm and are too narrow on the way back. Which causes them to not be able to turn into the right leg in the proper way.

    • @tsgolf
      @tsgolf  9 месяцев назад +2

      I think this two things go hand in hand. If the leg isn’t extending back as we turn, the trail arm won’t have room to maintain width

    One of my biggest conundrums is; WTH do I do with both my legs? When/where and which leg do I apply pressure throughout the swing? I feel like every video on "Hip Turn" ever made, was missing this key component.

    • @tsgolf
      @tsgolf  9 месяцев назад +2

      Less w/ lead hip and more w/ trail side like this would be my biggest piece of advice. Happy to talk with you if you have any questions! Here is a link if you’d like to discuss:

    no doubts that what you say might be correct but that said , for the average player, it is too complicated Golf is already a difficult sport for the 20 hp player then if he is given very complicated advises then it becomes an impossible sport to practice

      I’ll be it is. I used a golf ball as people have more access to this than a half tennis ball I’d imagine. Totally agree
