i'd like to see a grounded banjo use all wonderwings every stock and abuse it as a banjo main should and see if the MU will be any different. wonderwing is so good for catching landings, but admittedly quick attack lets esam recover for free sometimes. tweek's back throw into wonderwing off stage almost clipped pikachu at 58% at one point
You're probably right, but I wouldn't base that conclusion on one match involving a week-old Banjo as a secondary versus the best Pikachu in the world.
All I know is Banjo makes the game a lot more fun. Never played his games but he still gives me old school game vibes. That's also the reason I want Crash Or Spyro. It would make it the ultimate smash game forever in MY opinion.
OUCH in that final game, last hit last stock for Tweek, he had his second jump still but panic directional airdodged and lost the recovery. Banjo is too new for players to remember that second jump on recovery, especially since its weird he even has one, from character design.
I like tweek going for banjo because if he can make banjo his equivalent to mkleo’s joker then he can climb the ladder on the back of character that people barely understand.

I'm not sure about him being like Wario, but he definitely has faster versions of several of Ridley's moves: Backair is a faster Ridley Forward Air, Down air is the same as Ridley's, his forward tilt is the same as Ridley's, his jab spam w/kazooie coming out of the back is the same as Ridley's, etc.

Might be a dumb question, but are those red arrows that show where Pikachu is about to move in the base game, or added for tournaments? What's the point of telling your opponent which way you're about to move?
It's in the base game, and is more or less there for clarity. You know exactly where you're going to land, with the trade off being your opponent does as well.
Banjo is like one of the 5 characters in this game who's unable to do decent damage from a conversion so 30% for him is like a hard read or an easy to airdodge combo.
Kinda sad how nobody's giving Tweek any credit at all here and hardcore just Esam simping, sure Esam's a good player and put in a good game, but Tweek put up a helluva fight, especially with a character he's not extremely experienced with.

I kinda like Banjo, he exerts a lot of pressure with Neutral B and Down B, causing mixups both on stage and off stage because of their long range, neutral B is low risk because you can just cancel it by snapping onto the ledge, and Down B is his 2nd best move outside of Side B. Also his recovery is better than I thought, though it can be gimped, it has a lot of mixups. High Tier for me right now.
Tbh not that bad in disadvantage he gets 5 get out of jail free cards with side b to come back to stage, 3 jumps to mix up your landing and bomb lifts you up a bit when you use it plus you can b-reverse it. I guess what you meant is that he gets comboed super hard because of his weight but thats about it. Tweek has been practically using banjo this whole tournament and got to winners semis, thats something to say when the character hasn't been out for a month

Seriously Banjo can't kill. He can't rely on ww all the time, pika will heavily punish him. What's surprising is that tweek is fantastic at landing. Esam knew he has poor landing, so he doesn't chase him as high as he usually do, yet tweek used upb to mix him up twice. It's pretty great.
Of course can he kill, he can kill with throws, he can kill with fair, he can kill with ww, he can kill with eggs at the ledge, he can kill with smashs. So what are you talking about?
@@Teaker7 I think what he means is that Banjo doesn’t have many reliable and safe kill set-ups. With most characters like that in Smash we tend to say “-blank- can’t kill.” It doesn’t mean that they don’t have strong kill moves, it just means that those moves can be easily avoided, or cause the player to take some unwanted risks. WW is Banjo’s strongest moves. It can take stocks mad early. It also has humongous risk, and a longer start up than any of his other moves. lol So it’s great online when people can’t react, but in person with good players it’s a different story. If they’re all up in your Kool-Aid like Pikachu with fast attacks, you will get knocked out of it during the 16+ frames of start up where you are vulnerable. If the opponent is camping (like Pikachu with T-Jolt), then it will get slowed down by the projectiles, and the opponent has time to react with shield (which leads to a big punish), or to just jump away. An example of this is…basically the entire set. lol WW only actually connected a few times. All of Banjo’s kill options either have a similar weakness (they are situational, and thus the opponent will constantly try to avoid the situation), or they just require a straight up read, and high risk (like a smash attack in neutral). The combination of these factors means that Banjo “can’t kill.” Banjo’s still a good char in my opinion, but he does struggle to find kills against opponents who are aware of his game plan. And the game plan is often rather simple.
@@mjskillz23 yeah, he has as many kill moves as Ganon. And how useful is that in high level play? The only ones that matters is dthrow set ups, and ww on tech chase. The rest are all read options. His ledgetrap is fantastic, but his non-fair have poor knockback, he will struggle to put enemies off stage. Tweek need to get the opponent to 140 constantly in order to kill. Just look his match with Dark wizzy, 3 kills based on reads, 6 stocks needs to be 140+, and 1 ledge trap. And this is mario, a character who has a poor recovery compared to top/high tiers. Edit: and sure, he has f16 upsmash oos. How often tweek landed it? Everyone knows it's his best move, and that's why he only managedn to connect it on characters like Pika, because it's the only characters who can't space on landings.

WW is Banjo’s strongest moves. It can take stocks mad early. It also has humongous risk, and a longer start up than any of his other moves. lol So it’s great online when people can’t react, but in person with good players it’s a different story. If they’re all up in your Kool-Aid like Pikachu with fast attacks, you will get knocked out of it during the 16+ frames of start up where you are vulnerable. If the opponent is camping (like Pikachu with T-Jolt), then it will get slowed down by the projectiles, and the opponent has time to react with shield (which leads to a big punish), or to just jump away. An example of this is…basically the entire set. lol WW only actually connected a few times.
All of Banjo’s kill options either have a similar weakness (they are situational, and thus the opponent will constantly try to avoid the situation), or they just require a straight up read, and high risk (like a smash attack in neutral).
The combination of these factors means that Banjo “can’t kill.”
Banjo’s still a good char in my opinion, but he does struggle to find kills against opponents who are aware of his game plan. And the game plan is often rather simple.

The only ones that matters is dthrow set ups, and ww on tech chase. The rest are all read options. His ledgetrap is fantastic, but his non-fair have poor knockback, he will struggle to put enemies off stage. Tweek need to get the opponent to 140 constantly in order to kill. Just look his match with Dark wizzy, 3 kills based on reads, 6 stocks needs to be 140+, and 1 ledge trap. And this is mario, a character who has a poor recovery compared to top/high tiers.
Edit: and sure, he has f16 upsmash oos. How often tweek landed it? Everyone knows it's his best move, and that's why he only managedn to connect it on characters like Pika, because it's the only characters who can't space on landings.
Esam is pretty good
