    Если кто здесть понимает русский язык. Р -39, Р - 40 истребители произведённые в США в период второй мировой войны были поставлены в СССР около 6 000 экземпляров и отлично себя зарекомендовали. Хотя их забраковали в Англии и лётчики США вообще боялись на нем не то чтобы воевать, а вообще летать из -за его трудного управления и склонности к штопору. Но русские пилоты летавшие на таких же строгих в управление И -16, полюбили самолёты фирмы BEL по нашему Аэрокобра. И вставили нацистам по всем параметрам. Русские ассы: Покрышкин, Речкалов, Гулаев и многие другие даже после того, когда промышленность СССР выпустила более совершенные ЛА -7, Як- 3 и Як -9. отказались воевать на наших истребителях и оставались верными самолёту Аэрокобра. Спасибо простому народу США. за поддеожку и помощь нашему народу. Мы это никогда не забудем. И пусть будут прокляты все эти политики, которые нас хотят посорить.

    The P-39 and this P-63 have the sleekest lines of all the U.S. fighters of that time frame. Great looking planes. Wish there were more of them both.

      @GOMER PYLE Under the lend lease program 4924 P39 Airacobras and (later in the war) 2421 Kingcobras were shipped to the USSR. The latter aircraft came with restrictions that it was not to be used to fight the Germans but left in the eastern part of Russia for use against the Japanese. However there is widespread evidence that the Russian authorities breached this agreement.

    Very cool and unusual aircraft, the location of the engine and the resulting balance change. Must be an experience to fly one!

    • @AnthonyJones-ib3dw
      @AnthonyJones-ib3dw 6 лет назад

      Dad flew the 39 in WWII. As for balance, he said if the prop was removed, the mech's had to hang a bunch of sandbags in it's place to keep it from flipping back on it tail. He said they lost a lot of students in flat spins because of balance. He also said there were tales of pilots getting out on the left wing to get it down into the air flow to recover , but he didn't believe it.

    • @leneanderthalien
      @leneanderthalien 5 лет назад +2

      nope: balance is exactly the same as a conventional aircraft:this need only a specific design...its much simpler to have a good balance in flight with such aircraft because the engine was over the lift center (and the CG) and not far forward like the other fighters...

    Although there were some design issues with the King Cobra/ Air Cobra line both served a useful purpose in their respective theatres of operation. The Russians were quite fond of both. The King Cobra as I understand it was one of the first all electric airplanes. The two weaknesses of the King Cobra actually three were the performance of it's V 1710 Allison above 15-21,000 feet fell off drastically due to the supercharger, it was a relatively short ranged aircraft due to on board fuel stores and, you DID NOT want to enter into a flat spin with this airplane as it was said to be unrecoverable and the pilots manual suggested bailing out. I have to wonder though if dropping the landing gear was tried and if that would have been effective. The lines of the King Cobra in particular are quite pleasing to the eye. I like the cockpit layout and the idea of having that big Oldsmobile produced 37 mm blaster in the nose coupled with a pair of M2 Browning 50's would have made for a good ground support platform.

    I wonder if the merlin could have transformed the P 63 like it did the P51?

    • @topturretgunner
      @topturretgunner 3 года назад +1

      It certainly would have produced better power at higher altitudes than the Allison thanks to the Merlin's better supercharger. Interestingly the Merlin was used in the F model P-40 to good effect. The V-1710 Allison was coupled with GE-Moss TURBOCHARGERS in the P-38 Lightning giving the airplane good high altitude performance. This set up I'm told however was finicky and increased the pilots workload as it required a great deal of monitoring due to overboosting the engines which brought on detonation apparently this was a more prevalent problem in the cold skies over Europe as the cold air of course is more dense. The V-1710 Allison was in it's defense a good and reliable engine. It was used to power later models of the F-82 Twin Mustang and did a credible job.

    I wonder how the P-63 concept would work as a CAS fighter with a turbine engine. Put a large gun in the nose, maybe a smaller GAU?

      P-59

    • @topturretgunner
      @topturretgunner 3 года назад

      Piper Aircraft actually did modify a couple of P-51's with a turbo prop configuration as a ground attack aircraft. The concept was arguably a good idea but was never accepted. I believe (if memory serves correctly it was called the Enforcer. Some of the early testing was done nearby me in Lakeland Florida.

    I understand that in 2019 the u.s.millitary is looking for slow speed fighter to take over the warthog is this a warthog ancestor?

    • @PLUSHAIRPLANECARPET
      @PLUSHAIRPLANECARPET 5 лет назад

      not really. the the p39/63 were supposed to be high altitude bomber hunters but they could never get the turbo/supercharger to work reliably so they adapted it as a low alt plane any exported most of them to russia

    • @solstar4778
      @solstar4778 5 лет назад

      PLUSHAIRPLANECARPET - exactly the warthog is not the high altitude fighter but the low altitude tank and personnel fighter the millitary is searching for!

      Effective engine cooling i would assume.

    • @jaygee5693
      @jaygee5693 5 лет назад +2

      Main benefit would be more power. Exhaust systems with mufflers are restrictive and reduce power output.

    • @christianmotley262
      @christianmotley262 3 года назад

      This zoomie type exhaust only works with a supercharged engine, it's exactly what the doctor ordered.

      Super charged Allison V-1710-109, 1,425 hp, 1,800 w/ water injection.

    • @danzervos7606
      @danzervos7606 7 лет назад +5

      All USA WWII fighter aircraft had superchargers. The P-63 had two superchargers in series. The first supercharger was driven by an engine power takeoff through a variable speed hydraulic link. The second was engine mounted. Instead of an intercooler they used water injection between the two superchargers. For some reason top speed for the P-63 is almost universally given as about 425 mph while Air Force tests indicated speeds in excess of 440 mph. The Air Force had little use for the plane as its range was short and its performance about the same as existing models. The difference between the P-63 and P-39 is that the second supercharger added about 18 inches to the plane's length. The cockpit was moved forward and the engine backward with the length of the fuselage increased. The tail was increased in height to handle the increased torque.

      @@danzervos7606 Nice comments...
      I didn't think the P-39, P-40 or early Mustangs had superchargers. They all had the ubiquitous Allison.
      This is a beautiful bird!

  • @paulbizard3493
    @paulbizard3493 4 года назад

    Why was this beautiful aircraft hated by the US pilots?

    • @topturretgunner
      @topturretgunner 3 года назад +2

      Short range was an issue. The P-39's performance was vastly inferior against the Japanese Zero, recovery from a flat spin was said to be impossible and exiting the aircraft was recommended in the pilots manual which was problematic in itself when egress/ingress was done through an automobile type side door. The canopy was not jettisonable.
