Wonderful plane & flight! She’s a “beast” in the best sense of the word!! So great to see the pilot TOM so enthusiastic & pleased with his flight!!! It has to be a “flight of a lifetime” for him! Was a great TREAT to be in the “drivers seat” with Tom. Remember those great men who HAD TO FLY these awesome planes “for REAL” in wartime!!! Their “treat” was getting home alive!!! “Ach du lieber, mein schatz”! “Gesundheit” mein freund!
Most beautiful aircraft in the world. The amazing gull wing design, that beautiful sweep, the sound of that amazing engine. I swear, I need a Corsair sound machine to put me to sleep at night. Such an amazing airplane and so few of them left. How many? Like less than 10 Corsairs remaining? I almost feel like doing a water salvage and bringing one back to life. Such and incredible aircraft. The Mustang May have been faster, the P-47 more versatile, but the F4U wins the battle of the sexiest airplane ever built. Some Brit is gonna get on here and tell me the Concord, sure, it’s sexy too, but not engineered and built by the greatest generation to ever live. Thanks for uploading this! Thom is an excellent pilot. So glad to see his hand recovered after his near fatal mishap. Cheers
There's more than you might actually think. There's at least 33 (probably more, that's just what I can count in my head) of them airworthy. (Airworthy meaning flown in the last five years or so) And probably close to as many on static display. Plus several more currently under restoration. I would say there is probably at least 60 or 70 surviving Corsairs these days.
@8:37: Thom Richard Checks Out in the #530 CAF/Dixie Wing Corsair at Falcon Field(FFC): "That is one awesome Beast! - What a cool airplane! It's got no bad habits; many tons of metal to throw around in the sky - delightful! - so: Now my bucket list is complete" ... CAF/Dixie Wing: "Nice! Well, we're welcoming you to the Wing OFFICIALLY now as a Victory Pilot. CONGRATULATIONS!" And Thom says, "Thank you. I appreciate it! " [present: Dixie Wing Leader Jim Buckley, et al.]
Nothing like the throaty, snarlin' sound of a R-2800, pure music! Thom Richard is an excellent pilot also.

The P-47 and F-4U are my favorite WWII fighters.

I rode in your P-40 Warhawk
Great stuff
I watched this vid while listening to the theme to Black Sheep Squadron. :-)
considering a rebuild on a continental is $20K plus I'd guess a replacement engine for this is about $200-$500K
the guy can fly
