    I'm so glad that you talked about Valiant. I've been following their stuff on and off since the relaunch, but I've started following them more regularly, and they really are a breath of fresh air in the superhero market and deserve more attention. I started with Shadowman then moved onto XO Manowar and Bloodshot, and started reading Unity. Highly recommend all of those books plus the ones you mentioned.

    Came here because I'm new to Bloodshot! Love that hes a mix of Wolverine and Punisher and kinda Cap too with the whole super soldier side of him as well. He's quickly became one of my favorite characters.

    I jumped into Valiant earlier this year with Faith and with Divitiy. I bought the Divity TPB. Loved it. And got the Divinity II single issues. It did not dissapoint. It is a mini series so no need to read anything from Valiant. There are small cameos but I didnt feel lost. And it is SO pretty, so trippy, so well paced and so emotionnal, I recommend it to every (hardcore) sci-fi lovers. Anyone else read Divitiny I and II and enjoyed them? Or is as excited as me for Divitiy III ?

    I loved Harbinger and Ivar the best. I really, really, really want some more Harbinger especially. That series was great! (I'd say I want more Ivar too, but the ending was so perfectly symmetrical, I'm sure it's probably supposed to just be a one shot, and probably better off left that way.)

    Thank you so much for making this video! I've been really interested in Valiant lately but I'm just recently getting comfortable with Marvel and DC's universes, so jumping into a new one was terrifying, but I'm probably going pick up a few of these titles next time I order comics. Also, I've been hearing a ton about A+A but had no clue what it was, and it looks fantastic!

    i don't get why people might not have liked the first series of bloodshot from Duane Swierczynski's run. It felt like an action movie to me and dinesh described it specifically like schwarzanegger's movies. I'm sure i'll like the lemire run when i pick it up since he's one of my fave writers (loved his green arrow run) but i like to start things at the beginning and the first run from Swierczynski was pretty kool

      +IronSilverMan I think there's a superhero universe in it tho. like the has invincible, spawn and like some others too such as savage dragon. so like the image superhero universe is what I meant

    I love the Valiant Universe. It's seriously my favorite comic universe (DC is slowly catching up with Rebirth and every time Marvel gets a leg up, they shoot themselves in the foot). I recommend to my friends that they read The Valiant mini, since it's a great event, makes you want to learn more about the characters, and gives you a good taste of the Valiant characters.

    My first taste of Valiant was X-O Manowar. It was so good I immediately went out and got the next two volumes. From there I branched out into Rai, Quantum and Woody (so funny) and Ninjak which might be my favorite. Can't wait to get more!

  • @PatriciaCross

    Thank you for this!
    I was a big comic reader as a kid when Valiant first came out, but it never really worked for me. None of the characters really seemed all that interesting.
    But seeing your review of Faith really made me want to read Faith; and I wanted to start with Harbinger so I could start with her beginnings. I just brought Perfect Day home and I must say it is one of my favorite series I am reading right now.
    The core designs of the Valiant characters has this kinda weird blandness to it. Hey here is a Ninja from Britain..so Ninja + Union Jack??? Ninjak! Here is a generic Wolverine/Deathlock standin named Bloodshot! Etc. Plus the weird reboots/inclusions of a bunch of old characters like Turok and Magnus that just seemed dated.
    But the new series has these old weird characters but written so well. Valiant almost feels like the Marvel Ultimate Universe in a way; only done properly, written well, and consistent.
    I am still looking forward to starting Faith when I reach her chronologically. Valiant needs more female driven titles. There are way too many Bromance books. Part of why I kinda go "meh" at Quantum and Woodie and Archer and Armstrong. The Bloodshot parts of Harbinger Wars when I read it didn't inspire me; but I still enjoyed it more than I tend to enjoy similar styles of characters (ie he is better than Punisher, who you compared him to.) I never really looked into the backstory of X-O Manowar and thought he was just an Iron Man ripoff; but you made him sound pretty cool so I will likely start picking that up.
    Harada feels less like Magneto to me and more like if Professor X was also Lex Luthor.

    Great video thorgi. Only discovered valiant comics early this year and I'm hooked now. Started off reading harbinger, which was a great induction to the valiant universe. Now collecting bloodshot and unity. Also brought divinity and book of death deluxe edition. Which were both excellent. And 4001 AD this summer event was brilliant. Now collecting monthly issues of generation zero. Looking forward to savage and bloodhsot USA and harbinger renegades.

    Great video, Prof! I'll admit, I prefer some of Valiant's more sci-fi titles (X-O Manowar, Bloodshot, Ninjak and Wrath of the Eternal Warrior) but their humor books are really good too, so I respect Archer and Armstrong being your fave.
    P.S. Do you think they'll make a War Mother ongoing? Because if so, I am going to buy the hell out of it!

    I loved the original Jim Shooter Valiant line, but I gave up on the new iteration mostly because of the unforgivable thing Peter Stanchek did to Kris in the first issue ~ but after viewing your video I ordered the Harbinger, X-O Manowar and Archer and Armstrong TPBs and love them. But also, speaking of superhero universes, have you read and reviewed the Lion Forge books? Take a look at the FCBD issue ~ the ending will blow you away.

    What Peter did to to Kris put me off Valiant at first, but I'm catching up. Love Archer and Armstrong! Torque sounds like a mashup of Prime and The Great and Powerful Turtle. But hasn't Valiant rebooted since this review? Is the trade deal for $10 still on? How do I order them?
    ALSO, check out the Lion Forge universe. Great shocker at the end of the intro issue (reprinted in the first issue of each title)

    I also recommend the 90s ShadowMan, Eternal Warrior and Turok those were were pretty dope back in the day. The 2010s reboot on SM and EW are really cool too though Turok is not with them anymore sadly.. . .Anyways I'm liking Valiant quality over quantity anyday. *looks at Marvel. . shrugs*

      Vector Freeze5 Yeah, Valiant basically lost their rights to their Gold Keys license characters. But they do have expies that are suitable replacements:
      - Divinity: he is this for Solar, Man of Atom
      - Savage: he is this for Turok
      I have no clue of a character that replaces Magus, but Valiant still visits the year 4001 AD with their characters Rai.

    is the harbinger series supposed to be the armor hunters, the omegas, or the renegades? i have no idea which one to pick from.

    • @BigK13372
      @BigK13372 6 лет назад

      Dwight Keller-Williams Here’s my help with this:
      - The original series is Harbingers which is where you will start reading from beggining to end.
      - Next is Harbingers Omega, which picks right up at the end of the original run and serves as a where are they now situation.
      - After that its Harbingers Armor Hunters, which is actually a tie in to the whole Armor Hunters event (honestly you are better off Google searching for a comprehensive reading order for Valiant universe to know what to read in a particular order).
      - Finally Harbinger Renegades is the current comic in the series which saw the main charcters of the first Harbinger run coming back together.

    • @BigK13372
      @BigK13372 7 лет назад

      21 Swords I won't lie, there are some very violent moments in the books and if you expect the books to not have any depressing moments you might as well skip it.
      But if you are interested in good stories then you don't have to worry about the violence as most of Valiant is story driven and focus more on the characters rather than the action.

    • @BigK13372
      @BigK13372 7 лет назад

      21 Swords Personally I would go with all of them since they are all connected to each other in someway.
      But this video pretty much cover which books you should definitely read. But there are some that weren't mentioned:
      1) Ninjak: Basically James Bond if he fused with Ryu Hayabushi fron Ninja Gaiden. Great comic to read that flesh out the character of Colin King and has some great action scenes.
      2) Rai: Valiant Universe in the distant future of 4001. I like it for its shift in setting, Blade Runner feel and amazing artwork.
      3) Unity: Its basically a more grounded Avengers.
      4) Faith: Pretty good spin off series to Harbinger which focus on the solo career of Zephyr.
      5) Divinity: The spiritual reboot to Solar Man of Atom. Its a really good story which explores the ideas of a man becoming a living god, and how he handles having all this powers. It has two sequel series.
      6) Ivar the Timewalker: Pretty much Doctor Who but went further in deconstructing time travel. Seriously, the first arc basically ripped apart the idea behind going back in time to kill Hitler.
      7) Savage: The spiritual reboot to Turok. That is pretty much it; Turok has always been my favorite Valiant Comic series, so of course I would like the successor to it. Now if only they can do one for Magus (though Rai technically counts as one since he is in the 41st Century settinf).
