My MoM taught me years n years ago how to sew like 35 or so years...she passed away about 5 years ago WELL my newest n greatest wife found out I can sew..YES the big bald fat biker guy can sew..so the lovely gorgeous wife gets me THIS sewing machine for Christmas and now you are helping me remember all the stuff I have forgotten over the 35 or so years...Thank You and if we ever meet I owe you a drink or hug or WHATEVER I appreciate your videos
@J Bigs That's great! My husband knows more about sewing than I do lmfao! Most westerners don't know this, but in a great majority of non-Western cultures, it's actually not unusual for men to make clothes and know how to sew. The West is really just catching up in expanding ideas of masculinity if you think about it lol
Omg! I've had my machine for years and now I'm ready to learn to use it! This tutorial was perfect! I'll make a cheat sheet so I can share with my daughter! Thank you for this awesome video!!
Oh my goodness i've searched all over youtube, & your video by far the best and just holds ss much IMPORTANT INFORMATION, you were very clear, I UNDERSTOOD every word you said. THANK YOU KINDLY.
I received the present 2 days ago form my husband, ♥️very excited and need to learn more, so lucky I found you with clear instructions step by step👍. 🙏Thank you so much I love to learn it more because I used to do in manual, I still little shock with pedal which the speed is very fast 🤭
Thank you so much for making these videos!! You have made sewing fun and exciting for me. I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge with us and making everything so easy to understand. Please keep making these videos on 4423HD!! More power to you!!🦸♀✴
I purchased my machine last year and I moved some of the dials and could not figure what I changed. I was ready to pack my machine away forever. This video helped me tremendously. I am usually good if I can follow along with a manual but it seems printed manuals are a thing of the past. Thank you.
ive been binging your videos. I'm so close to buying one. I've lost interest in a lot of stuff but sewing recently got me inspired since I have a lot of clothes I'd like to repurpose or at least tailor to myself
Thank you!! Very helpful. I use mine for sewing jeans,, thin cotton masks and also papercrafting! I had a lot of problems recently and it was because I used the WRONG size bobbin! Leson learned!! (Had extra bobbins differrnt machine. Husband has a Brother and not same bobbin size!! He was Navy, sews and irons his own stuff!) When our daughter was 2, she'd worn off all the silk edging on one quarter of her favorite blanket called "Silkiy." He ran to the fabric store, bought more satin edgingand fixed the blankie! Was astonished but very tickled and so was she!
Guys always sew! I get a kick out of the Motor Trend TV channel--watching the guys sew the custom upholstery--cool. I still have a lot to learn--these videos really help.
Hi, I bought a Brand-new Singer Heavy Duty 4423. Please show me how to use Stretch stitch on the T-shirt knit fabric or Stretch fabric. I'm new at sewing so your instructions will be greatly appreciated.
Sometimes you need to adjust the top screw that’s flat to adjust the feed dogs for certain fabrics which on knits that are slinky in do adjust..also ppl don’t know that the bobbin and top thread must match if one is thicker and the other thing is thin it’s going to mess up tension
For some reason my needle position was not matching up to my seam width guide. I was going crazy until I learned that the stitch width dial actually could be used to fine tune the needle position.
Thank you for this video. I just got this machine brand new - no book with it. I’ve tried to adjust the stitch type to zigzag and it only sews a straight stitch. What am I doing wrong??
We bought one of these about 6 mo. ago...the only problem I have with it ... is the thread seems to hung up in the thread guide... (on the front coming down then back up to the third guide before coming down again to thread needle)....could you tell me what I’m doing wrong... been doing this since I started sewing with it.... thank you for helping
This is the second machine a bought I returned the first one. The stich won't change. When I change the stitch it only straight stitches. What am I doing wrong?
I want to use this in Ethiopia for my wife to get work. If you have any idea where to get in ethiopia? At what price? Is it the correct selection for all types of cloth sewing including denim?
Whenever I use lightweight or sheer material, the fabric and thread get all bungled together and I can’t finish my project. Any idea why that would happen?
I'm just setting up my machine and I can't seem to get a "non stretch " stitch meaning I put the pattern/stitch dial on the straight stitch but it still comes out as a stretch stitch - has anyone else had that problem? Also, it appears that some stitches are repeated? Like back stitch then forward stitch? Thanks!
Help. I was using my other Singer machine until now. Anyways I cannot get my machine to sew after only less than 2 days of usage.. First the bobbin case broke which was replaced so it fixed the threading issue. The handwheel tighten that got fixed. The pedal would not move, but now it's moving. Now I just cannot get it to stitch. Please help. I rely heavily on my machines to make blankets for the animal shelter.
No reply, so I guess they still don't want to let the public know. how bogus this is They are set to their "optimal setting" according to the company. (Why should I care? Maybe there are locations in a garment where I want the stretch still to be shorter for strength or ease of manipulation of the garment... or I just want to be able to handle the machine on my own.)
My machine doesn't either - mine is a model 4400 and this video is for the 4423. They're identical, except the 4423 has more stitches. Your dial probably has all stitches in black instead of black/blue if yours is a 4400 too. Hope this is helpful.
I've had the same problem as well. I usually just pull out a bit more thread before I cut what I've just sewn. I don't use the automatic cutter on the side of the machine because my thread was doing exactly what you were saying. Just pull out a little extra and use scissors.
Anyone else buy one of these brand new and it wouldn’t do a zig zag stitch straight out of the box???? Mine only does straight stitches no matter what other stitch it’s set on...😩
I am **extremely** unhappy with the fact that you can only manipulate the width-- what the heck was the company thinking? Don't make it seem like the extra stitches are a real option. After reading the rave reviews I purchased the machine-- I can't take it back now-- and I was incredibly disappointed (read, ticked off) that I do not have the ability to manipulate the length of all the stitches. If there is a way, add it to the videos. Once you turn the dial to S1, there is no way to change length. Don't advertise the machine as having extra stitches **without making this clear**. My old clunker's stitches could be manipulated for both length and width. I would not have purchased this machine if I had known, and I would take it back if I could return it. Your engineers know better!
Way too much talking, way too confusing. I ended it halfway through this ridiculous tutorial. Extremely too much talking. We just want the information.

I did not get a needle threader with my new machine

So, if I understand well, there is no way to adjust the stitch length for the "S" (stretch) stitches.
Am I right? Thank you for your answer.

I have already repaired this sewing machine few times to many. Definitely not Heavy Duty. Not satisfied.
