Bea Arthur was always my favorite. I’ve named every car I’ve ever owned after a Golden Girl, taking care to match the personality. My first was Bea Arthur and I cried when that car broke down. Rue was next, and Estelle was my last car before I got Betty.
One of the greatest characters ever written for television and Bea Arthur was the only actress that could pull it off so convincingly. Absolutely perfect performance for the entire duration of the show.
I remember watching The Golden Girls as an adult with my Granny. We've ALWAYS watched the Originals, but back then I was a little girl. I asked her which one I was....she instantly said "Dorothy". I asked why, and she said because I've always "told it like it is".......my mother backed it up saying that I "shoot straight from the hip" lmao......R.I.P Granny, and also to my Counterpart Ms. Authur ..... One of the good things about being raised by TV is that sometimes we’re lucky enough to get our sense of humor from someone truly hilarious.
There's something to be said for that. I still even today look for opportunities to quote Dorothy if I can!
And if your parents weren't lazy failures, you could've developed a sense of humour on your own. :)
