  • (KUTV) Gymnastics teaches strength, flexibility, balance and coordination, and experts say it is something children can begin before their first birthday. The Little Gym in Draper has a parent-child program that kids between the ages of four months and three years old can participate in. Kim Edman, programs director at The Little Gym of Draper says their parent-child gymnastics program focuses on three-dimensional learning, allowing children to develop in more ways than one. We have citizen kid, brain boost, and get moving, says Edman, Each week we do something with the lesson plan that will focus on one of those three categories. Lila Lewis is the owner of The Little Gym of Draper and says having adults in the class allows parents, nannies, and grandparents to bond with their child. It also helps to make sure every kid is getting the attention that he or she needs. Studies show physical activity at an early age will make kids less likely to live a sedentary lifestyle. It is also a positive way to expend the energy of a toddler and promote self-esteem.
