HI LAUREN! Liked and subscribed. Question: many teachers (on and off of RUclips), seem to emphasize (over emphasize?) specific strumming patterns (and picking, etc..) when performing a Cover. Personally, I believe someone can pick and or strum a song any way that they feel comfortable doing,. I've been playing for so many years, that learning another picking/strumming style seems a bit like re inventing the wheel. But its a Conundrum that I find myself in when learning covers because I feel "Lazy" (or whatever) and guilty (etc..) when I feel like I "MUST" learn it in that particular style , etc.. (like this song). But That is what makes a cover more "you", then the original artist, etc. What are your thoughts on this subject? Thanks much.

Great Video! However, there were not tabs for the chorus, so as a "beginner" that's where I got lost.

There is TAB in the lesson around 6:41

You play with your pick between thumb and middle finger!! I’ve never noticed that..

Seems the Buffalo S version changes chords early on much of the song. This give it a very unique sound.

Yes, I call that hopping the rhythm. Pushes the music forward.

@@LaurenBateman Thanks for replying Lauren. Do you have a lesson that teaches this. I think that is part of the magic in For What It's Worth but don't really have any idea how to make it work. A friend referred Me to LaBamba and I hear it there also.

Oh, the memories...we did this, "House of the Rising Sun" (who didn't?), No Time (Guess Who), Open Up Your Door (Richard and the Young Lions, Proud Mary (CCR) and so much more!
Those were the days my friend.....we thought they'd never end. We were young and strong, we were immortal!

Hi John, Sounds like you could maybe use this lesson:

You may have tried to learn too much too early. I would highly recommend my guitar course to get you on the right track: laurenbateman.mykajabi.com/course

I am struggling on the strumming pattern for the song Stumblin"n

Hey Ken, let me see if I am able to add it to my list. I get lots of requests so I cannot guarantee that I will get to it. But thank you for this recommendation.

Don't forget the E and A harmonic notes played by Neil young. Thanks.

Simple lesson. Simple lesson. Harmonics are not beginner level 🤣

@@LaurenBateman I disagree. Harmonics are easy to play and, in the song For What's It's Worth, the harmonic notes are an essential part of it. Thanks for your effort in making the song easy for beginners.
