I'm really missing a friend who passed away last year and this video brings me back to a time we would sit in the back of class and watch these videos he downloaded on his ipod. He would show me all your THA and Parkway Drive covers while we shared 1 headphone each. Rest in Peace Dayne, love ya and miss ya brother.

    @KillrBuckeye for anyone who challenges if this song is real or not, it defonently is im good at catching bs'ers. but its not really a hard song...so who cares, but flawlessly played. you should learn some black dahlia or some bodom. i could see your playing take off from there learning more technical riffs. and no this isnt the only video of yours ive watched. so theres the good and the bad :D rock on

  • @tennismaster007
    @tennismaster007 14 лет назад

    @jattymaniac try using this... alternate pick on the 5 7 and 8th frets on all strings... start from the 6th string all the way down to the 1st string and back... once you get a little faster, try using hammer ons and pulloffs and slides... ull build up speed... once uve mastered that... try playing the solo to afterlife- a7x... u should get enough speed from there... and remember,,,, PRACTICE!

  • @olheiser01
    @olheiser01 15 лет назад

    its a pinch harmonic or also known as an artificial harmonic. you bend the note while sort of scrapping your thumb of the pick hand across the string to get a sound like a harmonic. i just hold my pick normally and sorta lift my hand up a bit to get my thumb in the pick of the string. when you try it make sure you got good distortion and some good pickups cuz your tone will affect the squeal of it. i can do them really easily but some amps/guitars make me sound really bad.

  • @MrSandman004
    @MrSandman004 15 лет назад

    After reading the argument between you and Killrbuckeye, i looked at your page expecting to see like Necrophagist covers or something at least. I mean for you to say Killrbuckeye has simplicit (which isn''t a word ) riffs, then I was dying to see what you can play, but you have nothing.
    And his song The Rising, at least, is very musically complex. I'm certainly not very good, but I''ll get there in time. Don't knock what you don'have.

  • @busterboxer86
    @busterboxer86 15 лет назад

    the intro to this song kinda has the same feel as the rising at 54 sec into it i know its completely different just bits are the same trust me i am not disrespecting u i get all your tabs and just recenty got a pod x3 cuz u got such a good tone wit it and recomended it oh just a side note did you happen to get the live version? i dont think u mentioned if you did or not just wandering how you do the volume swells without it or do u use an affect to do it?

  • @djmay71
    @djmay71 15 лет назад

    on the intro lead, the part where you pick after 1:00, the man riff is where i tap, but your playing with one guitarist. see when i play, i play with another guy, and what we do, is we alternatively play lead at different parts of the song, and the other harmonizes with top chords, but it sounds good to us when we play it (& our bassist taps the entire bass line as well; don't ask, i have no clue how he does it), but i'm not putting yours down dude, stellar work!!

  • @ttlyfucked

    I think you'd like darkest hour, as a lot of your covers seem to be metalcore, darkest hour is plenty metalcore, they have one of the greatest guitarists in the genre IMO. I also see you cover AILD- sound of truth, if you like AILD may I suggest within destruction, I struggle to think of a harder/funner AILD song.
    And yeah I've listened to both of your originals, I really like the Rising, bought it off youtube
    Give within destruction a listen, you may like it

    music is not for sale it's an art and I'll be more glad if I know that the whole word enjoy my music than if I ear some dollars from it! you will say how much you will earn is going to tell you how many they listen to your music but, I'll earn money from something else

    ooh, noo.. I know. The EMGs do a fine job for like .. clean stuff in metal songs or hard rock, but they're not the best for like, really .. clean .. stuff. Like you wouldn't want to get EMGs if you were just playing like ... rhcp, or .. something.
    ... nevermind.
    I can't make it seem to make sense. I donno', what I'm trying to say is that yes the EMGs do make a nice clean tone but not like .. single-coil clean.
    .. that's kinda obvious though
    i'll just shut up though.

  • @Lordof0blivion

    I replied to your comment but I don't see it, so RUclips may have just glitched or something.
    Anyway, thanks for the speedy reply, I was just wondering which was the most difficult because I just started learning guitar a few months ago, and all the stuff you're covering seems so far beyond what I'm potentially capable of. But I guess it gives me something to strive for.
    I figure if I keep at it, maybe someday I'll get it.

    Hey man, great cover, you've even inspired me to learn it myself. But i'm having a huge problem: what tuning is it in? I can't really tell whether it's in Drop D, Standard E, I have a hunch it might be in drop C#, and Drop C is my last guess.
    Long story short, What tuning is it in? I'm sure a LOT of fellow guitar players would thank you for an answer.

Im not sure how often you take requests but i was wondering if you could cover Stream of Consciousness by Dream Theater. its an instrumental by them. im sure you could play the whole song but i wanna see if could do the solo. that will be awesome if you could cover this

  • @finchster013

    First off...i learned this song cause of you, its badass. Second i was wondering about your guitar? is that the 202 or the 600 series kh? cause i picked up a 202 and played and it just felt like plasticy, perhaps thats a bad word to describe it. I was wondering if you could just comment cause it looks sweet and for the price the 202 is nice.

    so yeh and hope you finally find some time to work on you original songs =)

  • @xxmcpxx
    @xxmcpxx 14 лет назад

    @gamer111 dude i never said that the pickups dont make any diffrent but for example the wood , what type of neck and all these things and not just the pickups , of course make the pickups a strong difference but thats just not the only thing what changes the sound and if u compare a strat and a les paul with the same pickups then they would sound diffrent

  • @juanoftheabyss
    @juanoftheabyss 14 лет назад

    The ESP he has right now has active pickups. Thats what makes them more.. sensitive to pick up sound. Epiphones, as far as I know, usually have regular pickups wich sound different than active pickups. And, its true that its not just pickups that make the tone. Amps, effects, and the material the guitar is made of add to it.

  • @todor991
    @todor991 14 лет назад

    ye ur owns songs are awsome! I think that when you (in general). play an instrument you should focus to play a certain style and learn it then move on to other styles, not just play a song here and there. Its much easier to write songs when you learn diffrent style and to develop your "own" sound by mixing it all together.

  • @kbristow06
    @kbristow06 15 лет назад

    I just have never met a real guitarist who doesnt want to further themselves. Im just wanting you to admit how much more there is for you to gain. Haha i guess your ego will stop that from happening. Have fun playing your simplicit stuff. And on the complete opposite side of the arguement, you still have amazing sound on the vid. Later

  • @kbristow06
    @kbristow06 15 лет назад

    As a guitarist and teacher when it comes to metal it is about talent. I don't play metal with simple riffs, and catchy choruses. I play metal to expand my guitar technique. I play it to think outside the box of 4/4 time and cliche key sigs. Your covers are good, but are of songs that are only the surface of anything with skill.

  • @Shadowjak101
    @Shadowjak101 15 лет назад

    Excuse me but I listen to metal guitarists all the time, and most the songs that I like by other bands this guy has covered. I think its safe to say he's just as good as those players since Killr has even written a couple songs himself that are very good. Seeing what he can do in these videos, I can't think of anyone better?

  • @guitaraddict077
    @guitaraddict077 15 лет назад

    Honestly, I saw them live and didn't really enjoy it. I don't know if they just had an off night or they are just "one of those bands" that doesn't sound good live. This song is amazing, I love it, but I couldn't get into them when I saw them live. I saw them with All That Remains, 36 Crazy Fists, and Trivium...all together it was a great show.

  • @jee5678
    @jee5678 16 лет назад

    Choke up on the pick, and then hit the string first with the pick and then with the side of your thumb in the same strumming motion. You have to just lightly tap with your thumb or else it will just mute the string. The harmonic will sound different based on where you hit the string (usually right behind the neck pickup is the best place, but it differs).

    metalcore is a mixture of hardcore and heavy metal, often apparent in the presence of "mosh riffs" and breakdowns, and such, but also containing solos and melodic lines that were present in meetal, but not hardcore.

    The reason why he said "D standard" is because sometimes people confuse "D" with "Drop D" on metal covers, seeing as Drop D is used frequently in metal songs. Go back to middle school and learn how to spell.

    I have a question, I'm a guitarist ane I'm having trouble with my little finger (pinky) which is half shiorter than my half finger, it's very small, does it ruin my guitarist career ?

    I noticed this exact thing when I first heard this song...it took me like 3 days to find out which song it sounded like and then I finally came across the In Flames song. Insanely similar.

    they say english is THE hardest language to learn. theres so many different english words for 1 thing. and slang. and so many variables on grammar it makes it really hard to learn.

    First I see your cover of The sound of truth, then I see this, along with Parkway Drive and ATR. Your music choices are awesome. Amazing cover, I've never seen one this accurate.

    As always, love your covers,
    one thing though,
    i think you should use less treble on your clean tone,
    i personally think it sounds way to trebley.
    other than that,
    perfect bud =]]

    try hitting your harmonics in different postitions along the string it alters the tone and youll get better ones in different places on the string on different guitars dude

    It's skipps cause he doesn't do the song in one run, it might be because he fucked up but i kinda doubt it, in one of his videos it explains this, not sure which one tho.

    very clean!
    as always. your probably tired of me saying that haha.

    you're either badass..or you got badass sound quality on the record.
    but tbh it sounds like you're just playing the record and you don't have your guitar plugged in :P

    cool song, great playing! sounds metalcore-ish, but I don't hate it, which is rare when it comes to 'core. I like the chord progressions, in particular. thanks for sharing
