- I'm doing another Parkway Drive song. This song has a cool tapping interlude. I'm using my pick instead of my finger to get it to ring out more clearly. There's also a nice little solo at the end. The rest of the song is pretty straightforward. Some down picking speed is required for the verse riff though. Note that there is an odd stop/start transition you will hear because it is impossible to go seamlessly into the tapping part from the chorus riff. I transcribed the song by ear and my tab is available on my website or Ultimate-Guitar.com. To KillerBuckeye: It's been 15 years since I first came across this video, time flies. I was already playing, starting out, but you really inspired me to practice, play, and get good in my own terms of sense. I love this song and video, I have rewatched it so many times to learn. I'll admit, I fell out of the music for a long while, but I still get the urge and immediately think of this video. Parkway Drive came on the other day and my first thought was you and to see this, what you're up to. Im 35 now and going back to my moms this weekend where I left my guitar when I moved ten years ago. You re-inspired me again to bring it back home with me and re-learn guitar. Thank you.
I remember watching this and his Frostbite cover weeks after they were uploaded. It was the first time I ever heard Parkway Drive and after that they became my favorite band. If it wasn't for this guy I wouldn't be listening/playing the same music I do today.

@Vaughn Blaylock by the looks of your picture im sure you know how much a kid takes up of your time, and i think that is his first priority which is good. I also have a few kids of my own so my time on the guitar is sacrificed. Anyone that plays that instrument knows it takes hands on time to stay good at it. One day he will come back when his child takes up a little less of his time and ill be watching for him :)

Dude I guess youve never tried to play metalcore before. Sooo much muscle memory required and that takes a fucking while to build up. Plus this guy plays very nicely this isnt exaclty the most technical song that is to say its not August Burns Red but it aint a beginners song either. RESPECT the guitar player bro. Peace.

Linkin, I used to have alternate picking issues badly. Just practice alternate picking up and down simple scales to get the feel. If u start out slow don't get frustrated, it takes time and practice. Try to keep it at a steady pace too while ur doing these excersizes. Also practice technical parts of songs u know or cool riffs and slowly work though them. With some practice you'll get it, I promise.

lol good for you bro! you don't know what a pain in the ass palm-mute at high speeds can be! i used to play master without palm-mute (took me 2 months to make it @ right tempo) and when i tried to play it palmuted took me like 4 months more... it's way harder palm-muted so if you stick with it you're really lucky ^^

same here mate, and been mainly playing metallica... i picked a guitar to learn master of puppets and i could "kind of" play it after 4 months, took 2 years to master and im still not quite there:p this shit is hard
if you think this downpicking is hard go check master of puppets or blackened by metallica where PM is involved too, and trust me it takes a lot more effort to master downpicking while palm muting at the same time....

@holyguachamole the bass is uaually the backup in most cases and i think what he was saying was like the people that play bass dont like being shown up or they like bass better then the guitar. just a thought

no offense my friend but it's not impossible to transfer from the chorus riff to the tapping part, i do it every time i play this song, the ending notes are open so you can play them and get your fingers in position for the tapping part, it takes some practice and a lot of timing but it's not impossible, i'll upload a video of me doing it so you can see what i mean
This is called Tapping noob ahah. JK ^^ This is really easy when you're keeping it on one string like in this song. I mean, some b itches say sweeping is easy but it's f ucking not, THIS is easy. I started tapping with My Apocalypse from Escape The Fate. This solo is really cool too (in the case you don't know it)

this man sounds like one of the greatest unsung guitarists out there today!!! You make it look so easy like a walk in the park, but i need to practice for about another 200 years every day 9-5pm to be anywhere close to this good. (check out my guitar vids. for laughs or if you somehow think i am good) - Jeff (MarkOfSao)
If i can give you some advice, you might want to play some Black Metal, really the best to practice alternate picking and tremolo picking (try bands like Emperor, early Satyricon, early Ulver).
Holy Wars is not really hard but the solos are quite technical, beyond my abilities at the moment :(
Guys i really wish to learn that song, but i cant play it because of 6th string`s buzz. I use 10-60 string on my ibanez rgr321ex bk. I saw people here on youtube playing it with way lighter strings on the same guitar and everything was fine for them. Any advices?

i really badly want to know what you use and record with im using a FlipVid mini HD recorder and its not the best thing to use i want the most cost effective way to record what camera what to play the song out of ect ect i need tips for the best sound quality. otherwise KILLRBUCKEYE your a freak

@StringSchroeder96 just because he uses his pick doesn't mean its the correct technique, using your finger is the proper way to actually do it, just practice with your finger, using your pick is the easy way and lazy way.
