Funny thing since the Death Battle there's an even more broken anime character who can literally kill anyone even a god who can't die with just a thought as long as he believes he can kill them. You can't even get the drop on him since his powers are also reactionary so the moment you try to kill him you just drop dead. There's a spirits that's on his side that's terrified of him because he apparently can kill something that's already dead as well.
In a statistic sense, I'm kind of nitpicky with whenever DB pitches a character against a Toon Logic character. But in an entertainment sense, this battle was pretty fun. XD

and you wanna know the crazy part? they lowballed popeye. he's actually WAAAAAAY stronger than what they showed
Popeye is still one of my favorite characters in cartoon history.
Was not expecting to ponder what Popeye's spinach refractory period was like today, but here we are.
He tells you. Popeye's spinach lasts as long as the fight requires. As the song says: "I'm strong to the *finish* cause I eats me spinach."
They had to put Saitama against a Cartoon God simply to give him a fight that Saitama would have LOST.
One if the Cartoon gods btw. Since Spongebob was also declared as a god by Wiz and Boomstick.
Now my question is how powerful is Bluto? Cause he scraps with Popeye like, every day.

2:18 After the second fight between Goku and Superman, Saitama vs. Superman honestly seemed like the logical next step.
It is HILARIOUS how vastly you underestimated Popeye. I WENT INTO THIS knowing that he was thousands of times more powerful than Saitama could ever be. Hell, Death Battle intentionally buffed up Saitama for this DB just so it would be even remotely interesting to watch. Fun fact, Saitama actually gets bodied by the majority of the Dragon Ball Z cast, too. He's strong in his OWN universe, but the One Punch Man universe in general scales FAR below most other Universes. If Saitama was to go against half the superheros in DC, it would have been even more one-sided against him.
Even now with the multiversal stuff in the manga popeye can get to 11 to 13th dimensional I believe.
I mean, it's established that if Saitama meets an opponent he isn't _already_ strong enough to one-punch, his power level will just rise until he is.

As it’s stated in the manga by showing a scale of Saitama’s growth continuously increasing as Garou gets stronger, Saitama will immediately become twice as strong and then thrice as strong, when adding in the upsurge in emotions Saitama hadn’t felt before his power shot up immeasurably beyond what could be seen.

This was one of those that was a really bad matchup. Putting a character who despite having superhuman near God like ability is still a mortal capable of dying against a full cartoon character who regularly breaks the 4th wall and laws of physics.
The battle is a bit outdated. The current understanding of Saitama can tie or might even beat Popeye.
