As a fellow magic mouse user: the charging port being on the bottom was never an issue for me, since in 5 minutes it charges enough to run for hours and the computer warns you when it is low on battery. That being said, it is actually shameful that such an expensive mouse has such poor ergonomics and the precision of the mouse is borderline a scam, it is barely usable if your work require to be precise in your clicking.
Tbf if you want to make a hybrid trackpad/mouse, it probably should be flatter than most other mice (I've never used the magic mouse, but I kinda get why they went for this unergonomic design)
For one, there's no middle click. Also this mouse was designed by Jony Ive, the same person behind the puck mouse for the original iMacs. You discovered a way to use it without hand pain that the creator probably didn't know about himself.
Oh, you poor thing. You must be so confused. The Magic Mouse isn't designed for you. It's designed for people who appreciate innovation and design. It's not a traditional mouse, it's a masterpiece. The charging port is on the bottom because it's sleek and beautiful. The ergonomic design is perfect for those who know how to use it properly. And the alien ship? That's just the Magic Mouse's way of showing you that it's from the future. So go back to your boring old mouse and let the rest of us enjoy the Magic Mouse.
my biggest problem with the magic mouse is the lack of a middle mouse click, the missing button locks me out of so much functionality when it comes to stuff like 3D software, the sensor is also annoyingly inaccurate and has high latency, i tried to force myself to use it for a few weeks, but the relief i felt going back to a logitech mouse was too high to go back i will defend the charging port though, it really isn't as big of a deal as people make it out to be and makes the front of the mouse flush
The charging port argument is a bit silly because even from previous experience I need to charge it for 20 minutes and it will last me about 1-2 months.
What I hate about Magic Mouse is how uneven the cursor speed is. I don't mind charging port placement, I don't care about it's shape or size. But I want my cursor to move same distance on screen that I move in real life. I know it's apples thing, it's mouse acceleration. But I don't have any problem with mouse acceleration with my MX Master 3, I use it with acceleration as well. I 've used acceleration of mac os since forever, and on windows too. I don't turn it off, I prefer acceleration to be on. With any mouse but magic mouse. For some reason this particular mouse moves in very unpredictable ways. And I tried multiple different ones, so it's not broken or anything. Even guys at LTT tested magic mouse and said it's movement is different each time, a bit random. How come? What do you guys think?
My desktop mouse at home is a Razer Viper Pro. I never use it plugged in even though you could, I always just charge it every few days when I see the indicator light go red.
you sound right but im still just gonna get a regular mouse anyways since its cheaper and most of them feel better to use anyways. Magic mouse just feels like an extra option for people if they want it or not, unless if its imac because then you already have it with it. But i do find it cool in many ways because of the gestures and stuff. I have been watching your content for a year now, just because your the only youtuber that i like that talks about apple tech that i love. Hope you get popular
As a recent magic mouse user, I get the complaints about the ergonomics. However, there are two points that make it great for ME. First, my hand is small, so I don't really feel discomfort while using it. And second, my area is music production, so the horizontal scrolling is a GODSENT to me, that and 360 as well, the gestures (specially the one to go from desktop to desktop), all that really improves on my workflow. Also, the charging port at the bottom is such a non-issue. You can leave it charging while a bathroom break and you'll have battery for the rest of the day AT LEAST.
Literally everybody is incorrectly understanding the charging port issue. I would argue the charging port placement is terrible, even with the argument of the mouse charging really fast. Think about it - why did Apple put the charging port in the bottom of the mouse? Engineering reasons? Absolutely not. Apple, the world's richest tech company with numerous high-class engineers could've easily solved such a problem. The truth is, Apple _wanted_ people to see the magic mouse as a "bluetooth-only" mouse. Why? Because its more "premium" to have no cables. Apple wanted people to use the magic mouse out in starbucks cafes and wow the people on how there were no cables dangling off. Now the prblem is, people want to charge their mouse while also using them. Apple however, chose to use their customers as marking tools ("check out how cool the mouse is - it has no charging port or annoying cables!") rather than give customers a better tool. That's the reason why I hate the charging port placement.
The mouse's sensor is the horrible part. Not evem 120Hz. Literally won't keep pace with a MacBook Pro. That, and that the mouse refuses to work while charging. We could work around the ergonomics and weird charging bullcrap isf it didn't turn off when plugged in.
Charging on the bottom sucks nothing we can ever really do about it I still think it's cool that Bluetooth is built into the boot up process of the Mac . So once it's been paired to the machine before you can get it to recovery via Bluetooth keyboard that's crazy
I own a Magic Mouse myself (1st gen for the batteries) and I loved the fact that it had gesture support, but it just wasn't for me, as I'm not using the mouse for average productivity use, I'm more on the gaming side. I don't want to buy another mouse, so I just use my built in trackpad. Somehow, I can do something in FPS games on my trackpad. Anyways, I just would prefer a normal mouse with a scroll wheel, as the keyboard is much more powerful than the mouse in terms of things like shortcuts in speed anyways.
4:06 at that point just use a trackpad. If you can't use trackpads for whatever reason, just get a 3rd party mouse dude. You don't have to defend a bad product man, i mean by that use methed it's not even a mouse. It's a narrow + elevated trackpad with bad charging and an apple logo slapped on it. Enjoyed the vid tho, keep it up
tbh, i really like the magic mouse, it gives the functionality of the magic trackpad in the form of the mouse. i havent really had any issues with it other than it right clicking when i was trying to left click
You say the port is too much to deal with? Have you ever tried plugging in a regular mouse? It's like threading a needle in the dark! At least the Magic Mouse has a port you can see.
Yeah why such a big deal on the charging port on the bottom it’s not like the mouse takes hours to charge it just takes five minutes for hours of usage plus you get a chance to take a break from the screen while it’s charging if you used a different mouse you probably wouldn’t have gotten up and just used it while charging 💀
No way bro is actually serious with "You have to use the mouse as a trackpad" . The only magic things are the $80 disappearing when you buy this garbage

You can get middle click with better touch
this ^
Reason why people hate the magic mouse:
1. Stupid charging port placement
2. Ergonomic nightmare
3. The hell is that alien ship

i wonder if he will do an ipod video! sounds like a pretty fun idea looking at older vids, as well as the product itself, cool channel and nice vid!

I think the location was. . . Inconvenient? 🤔 it also looked funny while charging

If you think that mouse is horrid, you should see the state of your keyboard. It's probably got more crumbs and dust bunnies than a haunted house.
So the title, in Defense of the Magic Mouse” was not a clue?
Yeah it’s in the title and the mouse is in the thumbnail😂
I have a mouse that shaped roughly like the magic mouse, ive been using it tilted to the left
The port is too much to deal with
