My father went to Fordham University, Class of ‘41. It was a real Catholic University back then. He served in ordinance in the North African Campaign. He could do anything, plumbing, wiring, changing the oil, putting new mufflers on a Volvo. He was brilliant and humble. He had a devotion to Saint Joseph. I was truly blessed.
Father Ripperger in the chapter titled, "Primacy of Reality," in his "Shop Talk" book: "You suffer a lot less when you conform to reality, instead of wanting reality to conform to you, which makes you suffer much, much more."
I am a blessed women. My father and grandfathers work with their hands. My husband works with his hands and he taught our son to work with his hands. I only know strong Christian men.
@@tonyale749 Maybe you should be nicer to those men. I am a man and I didn't have a father either, I lost him when I was a toddler. It's very common, ever since they destroyed the nuclear family with No Fault Divorce in the 1970s. I had to teach myself everything. I can imagine a lot of other men who have it even worse.
@@AmJusSaiyan I just got out of a marriage. Both of his parents are still alive. His mom run the family, she dislikes me since day 1. When we were married, my ex was fine by help me with house chores and take care of the children. But once his Mom and his sister talk daily: phone and/text. He is a different person, hates the children and I. Many times, people thought these children don’t belong to him. He even told them to die, w*, b*, all they can do and will do is w*. By the way, he told one of our child “you should die “ on her death bed, she went with God a few weeks later. Now, talk about financial situation. We worked, he keeps all the money, we both earned over 100k. He got us into 1 bankruptcy, almost another one after 10 years. when I decided to keep my 1st pay check, he took all children with him, filed divorce demand child support. The divorce took more than a year because he was milking every penny out of child support. Took me that much of life to realize the male around me are not much man, of course, my ex sure stand out. I never had a chance to marry someone and raise a family, the time passed me by, but I'm sure glad my dad taught me as a kid on the farm. He is/was a millwright and we lived on a farm dirt poor and my whole entire life has been fixing old machinery and welding/fabricating needed items. I'm rebuilding an old combine right now, and I find it quite satisfying to take an old derelict machine and breathe new life into it and give it another useful job. I work draft horses farming and logging, and also find it very satisfying, something symbiotic about working with my hands, and working with horses, and building the relationship, and the fields and woods. I'm content while working. Always appreciate Fr. Ripperger's thoughts.

I like your talk about fixing things. I am a widow. We moved to Hawaii from California, then he died. I try to fix things by myself and cry out of helplessness. As a widow, please do not forget to help the women around you, despite if you have a jealous wife, because widows suffer so much without being able to fix little things. And in the world, there are dishonest thieves and perverts who will take advantage of any naive and unprotected person. The people at that church use every last crumb in my cupboard for themselves and all their family and friends and have nwver offered any help to me, who they know is a widow all alone in the middle of no where. I am a single mother, does it make me a horrible Catholic because I have to take control of my household and not only do my job as a mother but also as a father? I would love to hear Father Chad’s take on being a single mother.
You fell victim of a feminized, self-indulgent man. God made man to protect, defend and provide for women and their children. That man did not protect you from sin, he did Satan's job and desecrated you, then, he failed to protect and provide for you and the innocent child. You fell for a spiritually dead man. As a son of a single mother. Parents separated around age 11, right when a boy *really* needs his father. You're never going to be a good father. You're just not made by God to be both a good mother and a good father figure. In my opinion, the best you can do is if you can't find a solid external father figure for your sons like a mentor type. Your best bet is to encourage them to build themselves up with your help and youtube. Theres alot of stuff on youtube now. Much if it is garbage, but if you can guide their interests towards being upright men of God. Things will go much better than yelling at them to go do "manly things." The best Father for your son will be God, the Father. The best brother is Jesus. Ask the Blessed Mother to help you raise your son, if she can raise Jesus. I am sure she can help us. Also, don’t forget St Joseph. I am raised by a single Mom. I am a train wreck because my Mom doesn’t know much , now going through a divorce. But that is okay. The moment I recognize my Father, Mother, Brother, and my best friend-guardian is always with me to help. Things are a little better.
my Parish Priest was raised by a single mom from the age of 10 (his father passed away) and he always says the best thing his mom did was give him a spiritual family. He is also an only child.
Some of the strongest people I've ever encountered were raised by single mothers, and single mothers are arguably the toughest people out there. My take might not hold much weight but for what it's worth, I think this makes you the exact opposite of a horrible Catholic.
I am from the Philippines. My Dad worked in a multinational company. He had a degree in mechanical engineering from the top university in the country. He was involved in WWII guerilla 'warfare'. He published short stories, and poems about the war. He told us bedtime stories, took my siblings and I to beaches, parks, to the cinema. He helped restore the Ford Escort which was a family car and I used it until it reached 18 yrs. He was not a perfect father, though, but I think men like him are hard to find nowadays.

High hopes. My 11yr old grandson got the control arm changed out on the family car.😮. One of my son was 12 he changed the house from 60amp to 200amp. My Nurse anesthetist son (in clinicals) did diagnostics on the family car and replaced the #3 ignition coil . Runs great. Another grandson did the alternator in a mini Cooper. Very proud of these guys. Grandpa Hill of Grandpa Hill's True Stories. Interesting most mechanically capable son is the one most drawn to TLM?
As a Captain for Troops of St. George has been great to developing young men and specifically my young son. Hiking, outdoor skills, camping and praying the rosary. Such a blessing 🙏
What a blessing is Fr. Chad Ripperger. Thank you for this wonderful discussion of learning, trusting, design, logic, truth, diagnosis, and healing. Doctors, nurses, lawyers, engineers, teachers, fathers, mothers and priests - we all follow the same path towards knowledge, truth and God’s will. ❤
Wow this conversation is so on point. A man that can manually fix things and do a good job has become a rareity, mostly now the older generation. As a single woman I have learnt how to fix most things myself rather than be helpless. The throw away consumerism has a lot to answer for. The tool shed in the backyard has become a thing of the past.
Thank you Father. Real men follow Jesus. I'm a grandmother encouraging my son and daughter in law and my toddler grandson on a daily basis. He's a Godly dad. 😊 There aren't many around. Agency and Godly discipline are the keys to raising our hope for the future.
We are designed to sense pain. Pain, in every form, is your soul saying “This is not Right” Imagine the Pain of Jesus with billions of those He loves doing “that which is not Right.”
Haven't listened to entire discussion but it's interesting that you both have knowledge of mechanics/auto repair. Shop classes in many US high schools were phased out over the last 30 years or so resulting in the further effeminacy of many young men. Then they'll have to get into debt enrolling in a "tech" school to learn the basics they should have learned in 10th grade!
When Fr. Ripperger uses the statement "that's not how this works" he literally means an observation of the function of reality. When modernists and GenZ use the same statement, they mean with all obnoxiousness "i'm incompetent and don't care about doing whatever it is right".
Thank you this is wonderful, We have 2 sons although one is special needs (autistic) , and 3 daughters. Would love to hear about these two subjects in future episodes. Raising special needs children and daughters ❤
Our culture is messed up. Here in the Netherlands there are so many rules and disincentives to do anything yourself. Can't change your oil of your Volkswagen because you loose the dealerships insurance. Can't install airconditioning without being certified etc etc. I built three modern high tech off-grid cabins by hand in an other third world country, but can barely do anything in my own country.
Unbelievable this stuff is healing my nervous as I hear it - and I’m a woman. I feel like doing all these things to feel productive and feee and happy!
It's not just some men who lack basic skills. I work in online shopping where we pack stuff in boxes, and we make the boxes ourselves. I'm surprised that men/women in equal measure do not know how to use scissors, they are awkward and the boxes they make are just "ugly"; another supply we use in boxing orders are sticky packing tapes - the boxes end up looking like they were packed by 4-year olds - just not thorough, smooth; unprofessional-looking...this is after attending training sessions and being taught in the actual workplace. No wonder robots are taking over. Very frustrating...but i use such situations to practice patience (sanctification).
Wow, I am surprised but I believe it is true. Kids are taught to be lazy and self pleasure. I guarantee to you, u give them the computer or phone. They will be a different person in a split second. But “labor” they are technically challenged. Sad to think, those electronics are controlling them.
Robots are taking over because they're sophisticated enough to do so. Machines displacing human laborers has been a thing for over 300 years and it's not about to stop anytime soon.
I absolutely loved this video 😊 the eloquence of words my husband and I always seek to teach our boys but you’ve put this together here so well. 👏 I pray my husband will watch this too after I send it to him and that it will resonate deeply with him and each of our boys amen 🙏
PATTERNS yes, as a geologist,( armchair type these days), its sll about patterns in locating sites, same for archeology,...and for me, teaching also has its patterns Patterns have a sort reassurance toward life and living.
It's lovely to hear a dad that uses Media also has time to use their role as a man to teach his son. It doesn't help when a father will never be or change into that expected father to son role
Father - Elk hunting? Fishing? Diesel mechanic? You could have a show like “Dirty Jobs” or an Outdoorsman show with a Spiritual Exercises element…. Love listening to you.
We are so far from reality that we can't even see the truth. I pray for everyone including myself, that by the help of the holy spirit we may be able to grasp the concept of reality.
It was nice to hear what they were talking about... tools! I'm a Finnish woman and I like tools too 😅. I am little bit older than Fr. Ripperger and single so I do those little things by myself at home. It is said that we Finns are realists, practical and have a common sense. All this is really true, which those foreigners who have lived here have noticed and shared on RUclips. Even we women can shut out outer world when concentrating doing something...😊 God bless you all.
My 8 and 6 year old sons raise meat rabbits for the family. Still working on diligence in terms of doing the chores in a reasonable time, but they are given a great sense of accomplishment when they deliver livestock for slaughter and can enjoy the fruits at dinner.
What young men (and women) are missing out on today. No wonder they are confused about their gender and identity! Poor children, we must pray for them!!
Growing up, my mother insisted that I make my bed every morning- Then, the Army also required it. I didn't come to the realization, until years later, the significance of that simple task.
I would like father Ripperger to address issues of synthetic estrogen that's feminizing men. The two primary ones are high fructose corn syrup and soy milk.
Dr. Nicolosi had a successful clinic in CA based on childhood trauma. His kids continued the clinic until CA banned this therapy and made it illegal! I think they moved their clinic to Florida, prior to the lockdown.

Well, don't buy a Ford - Fix Or Repair Daily, never a sense of accomplishing anything! The good thing about a disorderly shop, you get to just go buy more tools when you can't find them!
Could you please write a book about what your father taught you? I am sure we too will have a lot to learn from him. Not to say we did not learn from our own father but it is always good to gather ideas.Thank you,Fr.Ripperger
Jesus learned from Joseph the work of a teknon (general contractor, including carpentry). Hands on, skilled work, wide-ranging skills to build, maintain, and repair. Our Saviour was manly, talented, and knew all about the sweat of the brow, working with others, and using tools and materials to get things done.
It seems from this video and a few others that men are supposed just to push past their emotions. Does this mean ignoring them entirely? Example from this video was that it allows men to go to war. Sure I can agree, but now what do you do on the other side when they suffer from PTSD? Likewise, what is the resolution for a man that grew up in a broken (divorced) home? That man should just ignore his emotions and lack of structure? Or should he be addressing them to be a better man? I tired finding videos about this on this channel but haven't found any yet (not that there aren't any). But by my best charitable statement, it is such a problem channel's like this have, as exemplified by there being really only one dedicated ministry to adult children of divorce. This channel seems to be dedicated to just those that have wholesome Catholic upbringing already, which makes it hard to relate to them. Fixing cars and working on them is becoming a technologist's game too with them becoming more computerized, and electric cars becoming more prevalent. Far more difficult to work on than cars of yore. And sad to say I've tried fishing, but it is very, very boring for me.
I'm a simple woman. I see Fr. Chad Ripperger i click and hit the like button. Always xD

I was changing my car lights as they were talking about car maintenance. Good times.
Thank you for covering this !
This may be my favorite Father Ripperger podcast ever, and that is saying something. Kind of like listening to a spiritual episode of Car Talk.
Thank you Father. Real men follow Jesus. I'm a grandmother encouraging my son and daughter in law and my toddler grandson on a daily basis. He's a Godly dad. 😊 There aren't many around.
Agency and Godly discipline are the keys to raising our hope for the future.
Above all, in Fr. Ripperger is a godly spiritual father to millions of people. I am very thankful for his words, work, and example.
GREAT conversation Gentlemen, even if i am not a Blue Collar man. I am so Thankful for the lessons my DAD and Grand Father taught me.
I’m a women but this popped while I was gardening as next video and LET ME TELL YOU THANK YOU love Fr Chad and also enjoy Catholic gentleman as well
We are designed to sense pain.
Pain, in every form, is your soul saying “This is not Right”
Imagine the Pain of Jesus with billions of those He loves doing “that which is not Right.”
Excellent program!! A message so sorely needed in today's times! THANK YOU!❤🙏
Thank you this is wonderful, We have 2 sons although one is special needs (autistic) , and 3 daughters. Would love to hear about these two subjects in future episodes. Raising special needs children and daughters ❤
Ripperger is a legend i love the guy! He would be the best dad .
More should listen to this. ✝️💟
Sending Africa blessings 🙌 ❤
I definitely enjoyed this episode; one of your better ones.
Move....
PRAY, PRAY, PRAY FOR THE TRUE CATHOLIC CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST !!!
@@tonyale749😊
Robots are taking over because they're sophisticated enough to do so. Machines displacing human laborers has been a thing for over 300 years and it's not about to stop anytime soon.
Fr. R. "The best kind of job is when you get to buy a new tool."
Me to my wife: "Each job requires a new tool." haha
True story!
Yeah, I don't know about that. I worked in the trades. I am glad I don't have to go up and down ladders all day anymore.
I absolutely loved this video 😊 the eloquence of words my husband and I always seek to teach our boys but you’ve put this together here so well. 👏 I pray my husband will watch this too after I send it to him and that it will resonate deeply with him and each of our boys amen 🙏
Thank you! You have my prayers!
Truly inspiring talk.
This was excellent! Thank you!
" Reality doesn't care what you think (or feel)." That is so profound.I want a bumper sticker. Today's young people need to hear.
Yes. This section in his book is spot on.
Definitely! It's similar to Ben Shapiro's "Facts don't care about your feelings!' 👍🏼
So true 👍
PATTERNS
yes, as a geologist,( armchair type these days), its sll about patterns in locating sites, same for archeology,...and for me, teaching also has its patterns
Patterns have a sort reassurance toward life and living.
It's lovely to hear a dad that uses Media also has time to use their role as a man to teach his son. It doesn't help when a father will never be or change into that expected father to son role
Take notes that only the Catholic priests can deal with demons, thanks God for His Holy Catholic Church....
That was drilled into my head put back when you got it!
He is a firefighter i guess that is the reason. Thank you for your help father.
My God and my all ----- Deus Meus et Omnia ✝️💟
Growing up, my mother insisted that I make my bed every morning- Then, the Army also required it. I didn't come to the realization, until years later, the significance of that simple task.
I would like father Ripperger to address issues of synthetic estrogen that's feminizing men. The two primary ones are high fructose corn syrup and soy milk.
And culture. How about turn off the electronics are go outside. That will fix the estrogen issue too.
Now how do you motivate young men to actually become fathers... They aren't motivated at all to get married... It's wild.
Lead by example. They don’t want to because they’ve all had terrible role models
Dr. Nicolosi had a successful clinic in CA based on childhood trauma. His kids continued the clinic until CA banned this therapy and made it illegal! I think they moved their clinic to Florida, prior to the lockdown.
What book are you talking about? I looked in the links below & saw a book, "Catholic Gentelman: Living Authentic Manhood" by Sam Guzman but no books by Fr. Is this the book this episode is about??
Hi @hayleyleitman1252 Thanks for the question. It is in the show notes in the descriptions which need to be expanded. But no worries, here they are;
BOOK: Shop Talk by Fr. Chad Ripperger - sentradpress.com/product/shop...

Thanks for joining us. The book he mentioned is still be written. The book we discussed is called Shop Talk and you can find it in the description! Blessings.
What Bible is the most accurate@@TheCatholicGentleman
@@3f228 Great to hear from you. I am not a Scripture scholar but I rely heavily on Douay Rheims and the Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition. Blessings - John
I learned alo t with this soeech. I am divorced and my ex husband i realized doest really spend quality time with my son. My son is 16 what do i do?
God bless the entire Christian faith
Here's a thought: you can only be a good man by first and also being good at being a man.
indeed😊.
You CAN do so.
I can take car apart and fix houses but I don’t know how to make money and I wish I learned how to make money and had no manual skills, money and business was newer part of my family,if i had my choice I would trade my skills to business in split second!
I'm 55 and now I have to learn how to fix my a/c, oh well...
Father, you should do one for girls to be women. I've found the abuse from women as men, very immature. Old and young. Love Jalaine ✝️💟
No nonsense !
How can I actually write to Fr Ripperger as I need some serious advise
Google "Dolorans Colorado" and you should be able to find the website for his order. There is probably a way to email him.
With today's access to information via RUclips, etc, there's no excuse to stay ignorant.
Fr, your father was in the military, no?
Well, don't buy a Ford - Fix Or Repair Daily, never a sense of accomplishing anything!
The good thing about a disorderly shop, you get to just go buy more tools when you can't find them!
1954
Dad: “Do it now.”
Child: “Yes, Sir.”
2024
Dad: (Who?)
Mom: “Sweetie, would you like to ____?”
Child: “F-ck off.”
So true.
Would you marry a man who didnt like Father Chad?
Could you please write a book about what your father taught you? I am sure we too will have a lot to learn from him. Not to say we did not learn from our own father but it is always good to gather ideas.Thank you,Fr.Ripperger
@nacingnonato3488 Thanks for joining us. Here is the book he wrote just about that - sentradpress.com/product/shop-talk/
Jesus learned from Joseph the work of a teknon (general contractor, including carpentry). Hands on, skilled work, wide-ranging skills to build, maintain, and repair. Our Saviour was manly, talented, and knew all about the sweat of the brow, working with others, and using tools and materials to get things done.
based!
These issues arise when populations are pushed into fewer metros driven by specialization/ efficiency/principles of agglomeration.
Im thinking now about histerical feminists and abnormal hate in relation to men?
