Very interesting. This looks very much like the version we do in swedophone Finland (probably Sweden too, possibly also Finnish speaking Finland), except our peasant version is usually 2/4 or 4/4 and without the stride. Some call it "marschpolonäs" (march-polonaise). Very different from the more choreographed ballet-y versions I find on youtube, where there seems to be much more interaction with your partner. I was trying to think how we got to our version from the staged performance-y versions I was seeing, and not finding many elements in common. But for this version I have certainly danced all elements seen here (and quite a few more - we usually include a galopade and sometimes even a polka about midway through) at some point. For us one of the few dances we still have where the leader actually determines how the dance goes. Usually the dancers don't know in advance which elements and in which order they will be.
