  • 200 acres and THIS GUY .. just HAPPENED to cross our path as we walked across the South 80 to check on the cows. Chyanne of course was about 15 feet in front of me .. and we had just made our way through the 18 inh tall side Gramma grasses ... and were in the short buffalo grass when she squeeled and jumped back... ( she has yet to learn to speak and identify what has startled her .. I aske "What is it Chyanne??? A Snake and it sonnded like it rattled! So now that it was seconds past the initial fright.. we had to search the grasses to relocate it .. Sure enough we found it .. ready to strike if we had walked past it.. As always, I had the Governor .45/410 on my hip loaded with 4 - 410's and 2 .45' s I shot it once, and it tirned to slither in the grass I knew I had hit it but since it was still in motion I shot it again, it pulled back into a strike pose, and just for good measure I shot it once more.. knowing I had to reserve at least 1 410 shell in the event we encountered another I had not carried a knife out with us, but we had our walking sticks, so I placed the end of mine onn its head , pressed it into the soft wet dirt and pulled removing the head from the body.
We walked a bit more.. the cows were fine, so we returned to the house with our snake... making plans to skin it and preserve the skin.
I had to laugh .. because the WHOLE way back the toes of Chyanne's boots were tapping against the heels of my shoes!! LOL Step for step she walked behind me .. SO Chyanne, that's how it is ... run ahead of me till you encounter a snake.. then put your "Dear ol Gramma" out front to meet the next one ! LOl
Her reply " Well GRAMMA YOU .. have the gun!"

Yes, I saw a poor little kid in Australia that got pricked by the fang of a dead Black Mamba, and the child passed.

Rattlesnakes and people don’t mix. I’m glad you got him. Those that would believe otherwise have never seen the damage one bite can do. Every woman needs a sidearm at all times! Whether you’re in the country or in the city, you never know when you’re gonna run into a rattlesnake.... 😉

Good girl! Some of those rattlers can be extremely aggressive! But the asphalt brings that out in ‘em.
All joking aside, I grew up in East Tennessee. We were loggers and had a sawmill. We had pigs, chickens, cows, goats and any other animal you can think of. I enjoy watching your videos because it reminds me of my roots. Guineas are the best burglar alarms! 😂🤣 If you ever decide to build a bunkhouse and do a rural bed and breakfast type spot that allows people to come and help with farm chores and such, I would love to visit and would gladly pay for the privilege! It might sound weird to some, but it gets in the blood! ❤️🙂
