- Join us as we go in-depth on the many colors of domestic guineafowl. Guineas come in over 30 varieties globally, and we are here to go over all of them found in the United States. This video goes over the wild group of varieties: pearl, royal purple, slate, and violet. Be sure to check out the Part 2 when released, which will cover the Lavender Group varieties: lavender, coral blue, powder blue, and sky blue

Didn't know how many Variations there are. Can't wait to see more Episodes
Wonderful video and information.
I love how one of the Variants is slightly purple. If they are selectively bred, they can probably get really colorful
This is very helpful. I have guinea fowl in Australia, so a complete other set of mutations. I look forward to seeing your next video on this, thank you. Can you please explain the notation you use for the genetics?
Thanks for watching! Yes, Australia will not have the semipearled, attenuate, dunne, or pied/white genetics we will talk about. You do have the red eye fallow genetics that aren't found in any other country.
There are 5 loci in guineafowl I will mostly refer to: Pearling (Pg, Pc, ps), Lavender (L, l), Attenuate (A, a), Dunne (D, dd, dl), and White (W, wm, wp, w, etc.). For what each of those letters represents, I suggest checking out our other video - Guineafowl Color Genetics - Introduction. About halfway through the video I show on screen what all the allele letters stand for.
Yes but I am in Southern Maryland, US. Can't wait for part two.
Little Pteranodon Birds🙃
I wonder if my favorite Guineafowl Species, the Vulturine Guineafowl is also privately kept😊
And if those also have some special Variants
Vulturine are indeed kept privately! We do not have any ourselves. Maybe one day!
