  • Hey guys welcome back to the channel. In this video I managed to get my hands on a brand new 2022 Yamaha F115LB outboard motor for my 2008 Double Eagle 176. In the video I review the motor, go over the options, the warranty, talk about the breakin period, and a do a test on the water with it. I did not take the motor to max throttle but you can see how it pushes the boat. If you have any questions or comments please leave them in the comment section below. Please feel free to leave a like or share this video. Don't forget to SUBSCRIBE so you don't miss any future content. I have lots of how to vids on my channel if your interested. Thanks for watching!, and see ya in the next one.

    I ran water through the flush port and fired up the engine. Bad idea! Engine stayed cool but the impeller melted and glued itself to the water pump housing. Then it shattered the next time I fired it up. I'm glad I test ran the engine before heading all the way to Whittier, AK. Dewes in Anchorage came in clutch with parts even though it was closing time.

      I love the new motor. The 115 will be a bit more fuel efficient but on a 19ft it might be better to run the 150 and still get a decent fuel economy with the 150 as it won’t work as hard as the 115. But I love mine.

      I had a 2006 F115A yamaha on my Hewescraft 180 Searunner. It was good most of the time. It was under powered with heavy loads and in rough water. I upgraded to a F150, it is a diferent boat. It is better on fuel in all conditions except WOT. I'd never turn my nose up at a 115 especially the 115 B but for my situation the 150 is better all around.
      With a 17 pich prop at 3500 Rpm in ideal condition I get 5mpg at 25mph.

    If your dealership is decent see if they will lend you some props. Mine lent me some and it was fun to try the different ones. I bought the one was was best for me and it is not the one I would have chose.

    What prop would you run with a Hewescraft Sportsman 200 with this motor?

    • @bigair0176
      @bigair0176  Год назад

      I would test it stock first or if your buying it new from dealer make sure they put the right prop on for you. My dealership did a sea trial for position in the water and prop efficiency. So depends on your preference. The weight of the boat and a few other factors will play into it. Let me know how you make out. Good luck. Cheers!

  • @wolf3907

    Misinformation on the fuel octane, that has nothing to do with efficiency. Octane is used to stop knock, higher compression motors need higher octane. It might be possible for tuners set their timing to where you need higher octane, I don’t think that is scientific.

    Have same size boat with same 90 hp 2 stroke and thinking of replacing with Yamaha 115. What was top speed with your 90 hp ? Interested in top speed comparison between the two motors.

    • @bigair0176
      @bigair0176  Год назад

      I think I was about 36/37 with the 90 and I am about 38/39 with the 115. The 115 gets there way faster. Obviously having the torque of the 115 in rougher water is. Much nicer for sure. In the end the top speed can always be changed. The speed it gets there will be the difference.

      Бери Тохатсу МФС75, затем покупаешь эбу, рестриктор и распредвал от МФС140. Ставишь на свой МФС75 и гоняешь на 140 силах, а налог платишь как за 75.У Тохатсу ещё и рабочий объëм больше. Привет из России!
