It's been a long time since we've seen a catfish video from you. You are one of the best catfisherman that I've ever seen. I wish we had blues here in Massachusetts. Lately, I've been catching a lot of bullhead. One of these days, though, I'm gonna head down to Alabama and catch me a big blue.
Stopped in the Nashville Bass Pro to pickup some Hellgrammite lures. They were all cleaned out and can’t keep them in stock. The salesman said everyone says there’s a guy on RUclips catching fish with them. I asked him if it was Richard Gene the fishing machine? He said that’s the one.
Another great video, Richard. Really nice catfish. Your right about the heat, here in North Central Texas it's been running 102 to 107 all around the area. Makes you wonder about going fishing or swimming. Best to fish this time of year, early in the morning or at night. Thank you, Richard, for takin us along with you and all tge tips you share. God bless you and your family. Stay safe on your trips to take us fishing.
From a TN neighbor keep the videos coming. I’m so tired of seeing all the sponsored guys and gals who seem to be in a big hurry and all they want to do is promote the latest gear. Thanks for being a regular guy who just enjoys fishing. Heck most days I’m just happy to be going and if I catch a some it’s a bonus. Blessings to you my friend.
Good to see you out there Mr.Gene, remember to stay hydrated out there in this heat. Awesome video today hooking into some nice bluecats. Stay safe out there and have a blessed day. Aloha from Kansas
This man is a southern national treasure. Been along for the ride a long time. He deserves every sub and more. And ROLL TIDE. maybe one day ill get a chance to go fishing with ya..
God bless and tight lines… my 10 yr old grandson and I watch you often. Thankfully we have a 6 acre pond across our dirt road, after watching you, he often grabs his Ron n reel and runs out to test your methods… but not throwing a cast net, we are both horrible at that! But one day he may figure it out!
I enjoy all of your videos. They are very educational as you explain what you are doing. Adding some funny stuff makes it entertaining. Keep up the good work and GOD BLESS.
Glad to see RGTFM back on some cats! WOOOOO Fish on brother! p.s. try to soak the catfish meat in buttermilk lemon juice and/or vinegar overnight, next day batter and deep fry, sooo tasty!
I think Richard is closely related to Bill Dance! 😂 reminds me so much of him. As a kid I always watched bill dance outdoors on Saturdays . Good old days . This is my favorite fishing channel for sure !! Get in there Elmo!!! Woooo I mean woooo !
I have that cherrywood rod and hadn't really thought of going after big catfish like you did. but sure will now and have that exact situation on one of my primary lakes to get after it on. Thanks as always RG! you are da man.
I use to fish with a 7 inch leader with a baitholder hook tied to main line with a split shot. Then a 7 inch leader with a baitholder hook tied to main line with a bobber and a drop shot and a crappie jig. I use 4 rigs and catch a ton of fish. A wakebait kvd splash and buzzbait in the summer June and July and that's it. Keep it simple. 😊❤ that's 7 set ups I use to catch fish. After 6 casts with no bites I change rigs. 😊
The orange, white and grey colors of that hooded shirt you're wearing sure look good on you!!!!! I knew deep down inside you are a Tennessee Vols fan!!!!!!!
That hoodie looks awesome on you Mr. Gene. Boom looking good and fish on. You are the man. I also have the red Berkley rod and its amazing for the price. God bless more.
Thanks for the info on an easy way to tie a hook using a knotless snell knot. I could probably use the tying set up to tie my own baitholder hooks with a 7 inch leader. Long as i make leader at least 12 inches to start to tie knotless snell knot. 😊
Catfish are typically nocturnal right? I'm guessing it's the time of year that makes for a good bite in the middle of the day. Awesome video and so much fun to watch!! 😆🤩👍❤️🔥❤️🔥🎣
Nice lil kitties Richard Gene! I keep tellin my wummerunn , dont you hear Richard Gene is a tryin to tell you somethin....to go fishin when ye can, cause its good fer ye!! But she dont listen!!🤔😔👎 so glad im able to see you a catchin some, thankyou for the channel !! I give it ---😉👍👍👍 up...
I went to your latest video to tell you this Richard aka..."Elmo" he is your alter ego,the fisherman that rights all wrongs, the part of a person that all try to hide, there is an elmo in all of us, thank you richard "Elmo" for everything you do.and im talkin about woooo! I just got an energy burst and grabbed a turkey feather and tore it up! ....wooooo!
Were you bait fishing next to the feed mill? We used to fish up against those barges. I LOVE CATFISHING AND LOVE UR VIDEOS RGTFM!!! God Bless You, sir.
I went fishing earlier this afternoon and caught a small catfish on a 1/6 ounce rooster tail in red chrome black dots. I always have a rooster tail tied on.
Catfish are not number one in the freezer but we like them. Already got 6 one gallon ziplock bags full of crappie. I’m in 100% throwback mode right now. I use a 6’6 medium action Ugly Stik. Never broke one ever. It’s nearly impossible to break.
Not eating catfish is just beyond my imagination, & I can imagine pretty good.. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🍽 Seriously, though, you ARE the fishing machine!!!!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Have you ever tried using marshmallows for catfish bait. Been seeing some videos on RUclips of people using them and having good luck with them. Mostly they are fishing below the dams. Would be interested in your thoughts on this bait and if possible would like to see you do a video on it. Maybe you and Rocky Drake can get together on it. Thank you for your videos and giving us your thoughts and experiences on here
I was in that same exact spot a few weeks ago where he was casting the net. Man that grass floating around there is bad. Looks like it’s gotten better.
Just wanted to say that I love to eat yellowcat or flatheads. It’s my opinion that they are as good as crappie provided they are trimmed up like they should be. Delicious though if you know someone that knows what to do. And one 20 lber will feed a bunch of people.
Regardless of water clarity, I stick to white. In clear water, I will use smoke blue, which looks like natural bait fish. If in clear water they don't bite smoke blue color which is metallic blue and silver with a hint of white I switch to white. I realized that even at night, white works great. Also, I'll use procure trophy bass. Between the visual presentation and the scent, you will catch them. Mainly stick to 2 colors in certain situations I'll use plumb during the summer and fall for soft plastic with a white light crappie jig head a 1/8 oz or a 1/32 oz us you'd need 4lb line using a good loop knot. Late fall, you want something that is suspending mid column where the thermo cline is. They say you use black but look at this logically if you put black with black, you won't see lure. Now, with white and water based attractant like procure you will draw fish in and they will bite. 😊😊
When Richard gene post we know it’s a good day
Richards enthusiasm is contagious. Every time I watch a video it’s makes me want to go fishing.
