Little Garie Shacks

This is a small clip of the shacks at the cove at Little Garie in the Royal National Park NSW, Australia. These quaint little dwellings were made in the great depression out of whatever came to hand by battlers and ex miners and passed on generation to generation. The descendants of those original people still own and reside in these isolated and lovely little houses, far from the madding crowd. I wish I had one. There are also 2 other similar sites at Era and Burning Palms, also protected by heritage listing and built for similar reasons at the same hungry times. Enjoy and thanks for watching. Bretto

Thanks Brett - what a wonderful place to retreat to! I think I might get to enjoy the relative solitude too much and not want to leave - Looks maybe too sandy for gardening [?] but I could live on fish for some time! lol

You can do shack tours in May each year not running 2020 went last year was great people show you though the shacks tour the area have lunch. Have shack protection league they are handed down from family from depression era.
