    In America you rarely find Hapkido schools this good. Most of the schools cater towards kids. It's wonderful to see adults do the techniques with such grace.

      I was going to say the same thing, as I was pretty happy with a lot of what they were demonstrating (good locks, kicks, and transitions from technique to technique), but ridiculous acting at 1:22 kind of ruined it for me... ( T _ T )

      It’s both hard and soft martial arts meaning you have to flow like water taking any shape it’s given, but you also have to be hard as frozen water

    I would love to study Hapkido but for now I'll box/kickbox and study Judo. There's no Hapikdo around me but up north a bit there's Aikijitsu which is what Hapikdo is based off of (the fella studied under Takeda if I remember correctly. )

      Hapkido and Aikido have parental lineage in Japanese Jujitsu, but have totally different philosophies. Aikido is to win the fight without getting or hurting your opponent which is a very defensive style. Hapkido is total destruction of your opponent. My instructor is 9th Dan, been doing it for 40 years and is taught from Neal Hummerston, who set Seagal up with his Dojo when he came back to America. My instructor also done Aikido for 12 years, learned it at the same time as Aikido but Hapkido became his main passion , and the answer is obvious why. My style of Hapkido is Cheonma Kwan.

    gracias , veo mucho uso de patadas altas pero que pasaria con gente que somos ya mayores y hemos perdido flexibilidad para hacer esas patadas? estariamos perdiendonos mucho del hapkido? debemos considerar otras artes marciales en vez de esta?

    •  3 года назад +1

      En Hapkido hay infinitud de patadas bajas y para la aplicación las patadas altas no se utilizan demasiado. El Hapkido es totalmente recomendable para todo tipo de personas.

    Didn't see any sparring or training drills against "alive", resisting opponents. Just repetitive technique drilling. You _can not_ learn to fight that way. I get that it's a demo video, but that kind of training is why I left traditional martial arts. If that's what you do, then you need a hell of a lot more than that.

    •  4 года назад +2

      Hola, son dos kwans tradicionales distintos, escuelas de Hapkido. No puedo hablar de Moo Moo Kwan al no conocerlo desde dentro, pero Moo Hak Kwan es un estilo muy directo, considerado tradicional como he dicho antes, pero con alguna modificación por parte del GM Sung Soo Lee, su fundador, para adaptarlo a nuestros tiempos, por ejemplo en tema de guardias y cuestiones similares.

    To fight in MMA, not enough just use HAPKIDO.. you must trained boxing, BJJ or wrestling... for example is Jung Chan Sun or Korean Zombie, he is a famous MMA fighter with 4th HAPKIDO.. ?? But, to fight in MMA he trained kick boxing, judo and BJJ..... he is black belt in Judo and brown belt in BJJ....

    • @gesshugh9976
      @gesshugh9976 6 лет назад +2

      Of course it's not enough. It's called mma for a reason. I'm surprised so many people don't realize this. Just because you do a "complete" martial art(striking, clinching, and groundwork) doesn't mean you can just jump into mma. I consider Kudo a complete martial art, but you would still need to practice specifically for mma before competing in it.

    you also need jiu jitsu, and judo, and boxing, and muay thai, a bit of firearms training... throw in a little krav maga and wrestling... for starters.

    •  5 лет назад +1

      Do you mean, you need hits with the punchs, elbows, knee, thowings like judo ,ground, firearms training and more things?. All these things are in a real hapkido training

    • @hajikelist
      @hajikelist 5 лет назад

      @ I trained Kung Jung Mu Sul for about 6 years, similar in many respects to Hapkido, Brazillian Jiu Jitsu is an excellent way to test the effectiveness of your ground fighting techniques.

    •  5 лет назад

      The way in bjj and in Hapkido is different and the way of ground techniques are differents. Bjj is a good martial art, but if you know really good hapkido in all aspect, you have ground techniques and many other distances. Not all hapkido styles work good in Hapkido, the metodology is very important to can really apply hapkido in all distances.

    • @hajikelist
      @hajikelist 5 лет назад +1

      @ Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Hapkido is an inferior art, I just recognize the benefit of cross training in martial arts that specialize in one aspect of combat, in order to improve as much as possible. Hapkido is amazing, I really like it a lot.
