all of his shows have been a departure from traditional irish dancing, he has pushed the boundaries of the art to new heights and i don't think the millions who have seen his shows are too bothered, if it was so much of an issue the show would have been a flop.
some of you still say that there's a story behind Celtic Tiger. What should that be? Probably: " I was young and I needed the money. And the millionaire Michael Flatley with the golden legs (and gray hair) said if I didn't strip I could go home"? Great story. Well done, Mr Flatley.
Hard to believe that this is the same man who helped to create the beautiful and CLASSY Riverdance. Now all of his shows seem to feature at least one segment with a dancer taking her clothes off. These shows were supposed to be about the beauty and magic of Irish culture. Somewhere after Lord of the Dance in 1996, his creativity started to deviate towards more sexually explicit shows. Long live Riverdance !!! The original and still the best !!💕
this shows how the Irish felt at first in the USA, very awkward, not knowing what to do. But then they get used to the new world, and the removing of the outer clothes showing the USA underneath shows how they have become part of this new culture, free to express themselves, like she's free of her original self.
Act 1 The Heartbeat of the Tiger Dancing in the Dark St. Patrick The Sleeping Tiger The Vikings Celtic Fire The Garden of Eden The Red Coats The Famine Four Green Fields Bloody Sunday A Call to Arms The 1916 Rising The Banshee A Nation Once Again
Thank you !! True talent does NOT require you to get half naked !!! His shows became a combination of a Victoria's Secret exhibition and Chippendales ( in later versions of Lord of the Dance). When are people who create shows, t.v. and stage, going to realize that not everyone is entertained by sleazy and sexually explicit content? I feel sorry for the people in the audience who cringed at this, thinking that it was going to be fun and tasteful.😮 I would have walked out, especially if I had, had children with me.🫣🥺
So...can anyone tell me the name of the song that plays when the guys come out? I know it's an actual instrumental song, I hear it on the radio but they never say what the name is!!
Act 2 Freedom A New World The Last Rose Celtic Kittens Capone Forever Free Cowboy Cheerleaders These Colors Don't Run Yankee Doodle Dandy Celtic Fire II The Celtic Tiger
I can understand how you feel. I'm usually not a big fan of seeing people strip, either.I am, however, a big Flatley fan, and I confess to having a crush on him. In an interview several years ago, he stated that he loves women and he loves sex, so that's probably why he likes to feature scantily clad women. I just hope he's not cheating on his current wife, which is what he did with the first.
And laso, in case you didn't notice, he's making fun of the male sterotype as weel. Men in uniforms? Hello? THAT'S something for the ladies I can tell you! :p And by the way, Im going to Hamburg in december to se he's comeback as The Lord of the Dance, and he is as amazing as he has always been.
No thank God !! Riverdance is still CLASSY and tasteful and there are other shows, not created by Flatley, that go back to focusing on the beauty of the music and dancing. One such show is called:' Rhythym of the Dance. 'Very beautiful production.
Okey it looks like a LOT of people don't understand this scene at all! This is about when the Irish moved to America and it is done with a LOT of sence of humor! This is a total stereotyping of America!High heels, stripping, and the USA-bikini.He's makin fun of his own country! You DO know that he is born and rased in USA? I've seen this show live, and it's nothing offensive at all with this. It's just ironic! And I've ben a Michael-fan since -94 so don't you call him perverted! That is just stupid.
My interpretation of this dance is that when Irish immigrants came to America, at first they were innocent at first (traditional Irish dance), but over time they cut loose all inhibitions that may have had from the Old World to the Freedom of the New World. The Right of Free Speech and Self Expression however raunchy is guaranteed by our Constitution (hence the striptease dance). Note that she wears US colors on Summer two piece bikini. Is this how other nations see us? Raunchy? Bawdy? Decadent?
@HungaricusDominatus "The problem is that a stripping scene does not belong to a show that is based on Irish and Irish-American traditional culture." Actuallu it does, stripping is quite common in AMERICA.. And that's was this scene is absout.. "But if I buy a ticket to see Lord of the Dance, I don't want to see boobs." And you wont, 'cause this is Celtic Tiger.. In case you missed that part..
I'm an American citizen and I was raised with Biblical morals and values. Just because the entertainment and fashion industries use sex to sell everything, doesn't mean that "everyone does it". The Bible says that a woman is to dress MODESTLY and her beauty comes from her personality and love of God. They save themselves for marriage and any sexual behavior or dress, should be seen only by your husband in the privacy of your home. My sister and I were trained in ballet. I love dance of all types but strip dancing is a perversion of what dancing was mean't to be; art and a form of worship and celebration.
Apparently you guys missed his other shows. There is always a number where the galls dramatically and to thunderous applause strip off their dresses and dance. Sheesh. Get over yourselves you prudes.
umm, i get the plane freedom part... but what the heck does taking off your clothes infront of thousands of people mean freedom? yeah... she is free off her clothes but ... i doubt the meaning of stripping is justifiable when your talking about Americans. Need some help getting my head around this however i do respect Michael ... for his dancing atleast.
i agree! lord of the dance and feet of flames was awesome! this is nothing but patriotic shit! and what the hell happened to him? he used to be so cute. he looks like he's had plastic surgery or something!
This seems like variations on 'porn culture' ... not genuinely irish or American or European ... but something degenerate that counterproductive elements have been peddling wherever they can for about a century now. Maybe this 6 minutes isn't representative of Flatley's production, or doesn't convey his point out-of-context. But this , by itself, looks really unworthy of him or his people.
aww come on people lighten up, I'm a woman and i don't find this offensive at all i mean she only stripped to her underwear, costume underwear at that, next you;ll be saying you find the Victoria's secret fashion show offensive.

I agree that there is a strong lack of morality in the West, and America is no exception, although many foreigners actually think Americans are prudes. I've seen clips of television shows and commercials from other countries, and they make Americans seem innocent.
The first part of the show was lovely. But there is no need to wonder what was on his mind for this bit of foolishness. But geesh, the early Irish immigrants didn't come to America on JETS!

I get what it means……but idk! But it doesn’t work this way……this is just cringe 😬……..Irish dance and this type of cheesy shite just don’t go hand in hand
She is absolutely gorgeous.

@LightningEidolen I think it represents the shedding of the old inhibitions from the old country. I think he could of done it another way though.
2.00-2.50 is the sexiest part for me 😉
Kinda jams bond-ish O.O
@Dagonet0471 This is why Flatley left Riverdance Productions. He felt he should be bare chested and that the girls should be scantily clad.
So sad that a man that had such talent and creative genius, turned out to be the dance world's version of a pimp !!😮
jean butler never needed any of this crap, she was just awesome all by herself.

@Dagonet0471 I think he has done a great job with things like Lord Of The Dance, but this I do not like at all!
i agree with you. this scene really was not needed.

No thank God !! Riverdance is still CLASSY and tasteful and there are other shows, not created by Flatley, that go back to focusing on the beauty of the music and dancing. One such show is called:' Rhythym of the Dance. 'Very beautiful production.

I agree 100%. It makes my skin crawl but i am aware It's the theatre world and the same rules don't apply.
Celtic Gangnam style ?
Btw spiderwebbie people all around the world take off their clothes lol not just americans
😒 Come on Michael. I thought I was going to see Celtic dance. Not see a strip club reenactment.
I agree that there is a strong lack of morality in the West, and America is no exception, although many foreigners actually think Americans are prudes. I've seen clips of television shows and commercials from other countries, and they make Americans seem innocent.

US flag bikini, neat.
And considering the Americans has the greatest porn industry in the world, once consider this as homage to them.
I'm American and I was born with Biblical morals and values. The Bible teaches that Godly women are to dress MODESTLY. This is total crap, if this comes to the US I will not see it, I love Lord Of The Dance, but this is a joke
Eugh.
@buckeyegurl715 So...being american means taking off all your clothes?
Nope.I'm American and was raised with Biblical morals and values. Godly women are to dress MODESTLY and tastefully. Just because the entertainment and fashion industries tell women to show off everything, some of us still believe that the only man who should see your body, is your husband...in the privacy of your home.
I'm not crazy about the striptease, but is something wrong with being patriotic? Since when is that bad.
Did I come here for stripper action or irish dancing...What happened?
O.o what the heck, that was just terrible
This is awful! What happened??
I’m sorry but Breakout was better
I get what it means……but idk! But it doesn’t work this way……this is just cringe 😬……..Irish dance and this type of cheesy shite just don’t go hand in hand
