I agree with a sleeker Batman. We’ve never really seen a live action Batman who moves and fights like a ninja. A physical comp I’m thinking is Chadwick’s Black Panther maybe a bit taller..Batman should be built like an NFL wide receiver.
Aspects of Bale Batman had the Ninja thing...but certainly no where choreographically close to a ninja haha! But i'm not against a HUGE Batman. I keep seeing people against it!
There are too many different versions of Batman..people loved Robinson when he a emo boy so everyone has their taste so hopefully Gunn likes Arkham Batman 🙏🙏🙏
I think Delroy Lindo, Luis Guzman & Paul Sun-Hyung Lee would also be great as Perry White
Honestly, I don't want Superman to be jacked to all hell. He's a midwest boi and his power comes from the sun. Let him be big and beefy but he doesn't need to be jacked/sculpted.
Glad the homies suggests that Batman should be looking like a martial arts/ ninja fighter for James Gunn’s dc universe. Along with the sick fight choreography we should expect to be sick.

I compare Superman: Legacy and the DCU to The Incredibles universe. The Incredibles and the sequel have quite a few superheroes appear, but the focus of the story remains on the Parr family. This is also how the DCU will operate. The focus of Legacy will be on Superman.

I think Superman: Legacy is exactly the character and tone to start with. Superman is a bigger scaffolding to construct a super-hero universe on. You start with Batman and you have to scale up from a street-level fighter who operates in the shadows most often as lone vigilante. Superman is a public, overtly optimistic character who can serve as an inspiration to others and draw other people to him. In addition, he's a powerful character who can work within a broader range of threats from evil inventor to alien invasion.
I think there's a self-limiting danger to leading with the dark loner character. Doing so with the X-Men almost immediately limited the franchise to "Wolverine and his supporting cast." Every story, villain, or threat was designed around what worked well for the character of Wolverine. I like that the first new X-Men stories in the MCU will be X-Men '97 with Cyclops as the leader and all the characters sharing the stage. In that case, we stand a much better shot of getting great stories from Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm, Nightcrawler, etc.
A new DCU that starts with Batman as the cornerstone is going to hedge in favor of Batman scale threats. One that starts with Superman could go in any direction.
The new animated Superman and Lois has a superman symbol that looks pretty much like the Kingdom Come symbol in the red and yellow color way
This might be controversial, but if they did go with the Geoff Johns/Gary Frank Brainiac, I would love to see Dave Bautista as Brainiac. I think he would nail the cold, calculating, computer trying to become human by absorbing knowledge throughout the universe. Plus he would be a great physical match for Kal.
About the Rocky Horror Show, it really stood out at the time, and even now, because you really don't get very many loudly queer films. However, even I didn't love it the first time. In my experience, people tend to bounce off the first time and then love it the second time. It's like mold. You gotta give it time to grow on you. I also highly recommend seeing it live on stage. Once you do that, you'll really get it, or at least why people like it.

Rating a movie is such a double edged sword. The worst movie can be someones fav movie. Just look at RT if every reviewer give a movie 6/10 it will get a 100% score, which is ridiculous
But that just means 100% of the reviewers rated the film positively (6/10 or better). It also provides the average rating, which could be 6.0/10. All the information is there beyond the basic RT score.
I will argue that while Marvel's MCU is at its lowest point, it's still has higher quality, storytelling, and comic book accuracy than ANYTHING in the DCFU (DC film universe). Wonder Woman 1 may be the outlier

I strongly believe Hector and I are cut from the same cloth. I completely agree with your perspective on review different genres and kinds of movies. If it's a movie I can rewatch and enjoy and get something new each time. That's gonna rank higher than a film that makes me ball my eyes out and I never want to watch again. Nothing bad about the movie but rewatchability is integral to the high tier status IMO. Loved this week's podcast!

As far as movie tastes go, I think dj hit it on the head. Timing is a huge thing. If you saw rocky horror when you were 13 at a screening where everyone was into it and participating in the scenes or shadow casting....you will not forget. Now I see what people dont like about it but it's nostalgic for me. And the music still slaps. I don't think it's a queer only film, it's a sex comedy for teenagers. Also, trainspotting was a movie I didnt love and then saw it two years later and it's one of my favorite films ever. Timing is everything

I’m personally on with partially CG suits because of how often the actors and stunt doubles talk about how difficult it is to get in and out of them everyday (inclusion going to the bathroom) and how ridiculously hot they can be. As long as they look really good on screen and you can’t totally tell I don’t mond
and to Adobe I say their program now sucks real hard. The guys from Corridor ranted about it on the their podcast
I had a super similar experience to DJ when I was a kid. I played a lot of my Super Nintendo in the early 2000s, and I would hook up the cables and set the channel settings and everything, but one night I went to set up the system and when I turned on the small TV in my room, there was a small child who was drugged running from a tall, terrifying man and that stayed with me for a long time. I was too scared to move for a bit, but also too curious to look away until finally I forced myself to change the channel. Took about 15 years or so before I found out it was Wes Craven's New Nightmare.

Those are interesting thoughts regarding a potential Nightwing casting. God I hope we get him in Live Action in this new DCU. I'd also love to (if they do bring him in) have them kinda hint at a budding brotherly relationship with Damian since comics-wise, the Batman/Robin pairing of that era was moreso Dick as Bats with Damian!
Cavil can't play this role. not just because of ACTING - but because he is in his 40s.

I am not a fan with CGI superhero suits, I hate SPIDEY nano suit, I love practical masks ….but I love the realness of the original Iron MAN film…the suit felt so real and anyone can touch it

His new suit is thicker because he doesn’t have his full powers yet until later on.. Gunn definitely adapting that for his own and he’ll probably have god like power by the end

I've always liked Superman, but the Superman & Lois series (I'd also include the Supergirl series) made me love Superman. I think James Gunn will do a great job, so I'm personally pretty optimistic about his take. Also, I absolutely love Princess Mononoke. It is my favorite movie of all time.

Oh hey, yeah I forgot I was gonna ask you guys would I know the Superman suit is already set in stone already but I always wondered why the suit wasn’t more like a battles suit I think I can remember man of steel all that well, but now, after all this time, I was stinking to myself how come, the Superman suit is not a space suitunless it was a space I don’t remember anymore to be honest with you and I am I’m actually not even in the mood to go watch the movie again because it’s too depressing. I agree with DJ about the trunks. To me, they look so goofy on these superhero suits in live action. 🤷🏾♂️

Too much too soon can be a major problem. But Gunn has shown success in balancing out characters in the same story and sticking the landing with it.

Btw I disagree with Hector on wanting a smaller Batman. We already have an average body Batman with Pattinson. I don't want to think I can take Batman in a fight. I wanna see a Batman that's physically imposing. To each their own tho. I just want Batman to be good regardless.
I agree with the Batman take, I always love the animated Batman because that guy is already jacked, and I want to see that one time in live action.
