This had to happen, getting the Taycan to the Nurburgring for some laps! However, not knowing how the battery would hold up, the first mission was to make sure it could begin the Touristenfahrten session at 100%. Then it's time to get out there and have some fun, even with the rush hour traffic on the Ring...
I reckon this would have been a bit of a handful in the corners but for long cruises i think this would be one of the best cars to drive! Keep up the good work
Love how they’ve named a corner after Sabine Schmitz, she deserves it and I’m sure she’d be so proud watching down knowing that her memory in the Ring will live on not just for her amazing driving skills on it! Rest in Peace Sabine 🙏🏻
Yes, lets try to make it from now on when Shmee brings a new car to the ring YOU MUST BE IN THE INTRO or even better INSIDE THE CAR. Otherwise, it's not quite an "official lap" lol
@@Shmee150 I always enjoy the videos where you two collaborate and would be happy if there is an occasional cameo appearance from the Apex team. But at this point I thoroughly enjoy Tim's personal track experience. It would not work as well if Misha were in them all. The apprentice is becoming his own master.
When are we going to get Puppi laps? She's been doing great on the other channel might be time she gets behind the wheel on the main channel. I bet if she drove it would get a million views first day. Hope you got to play with pancake while you were there. Great video as always
For me this is your best video yet. I am biased because I have a Taycan Turbo S. That was a terrific drive and your enjoyment and skill was evident. You were cool enough to give a lucid and informative commentary. Excellent.
That was fun to watch. You get a great indication of the acceleration when passing the other cars and watching the side view camera. That thing buggers off.
Dear Tim- this is my favorite Shmee video to date! I love the racing green Taycan on the Green Hell eating up those turns with grace and ease. Once again the three panel sync’ed video is marvelously done. Love to hear your narration. How absolutely boss to have that car on that day on that track. Just so good. Oh what I wouldn’t give to tag along on such a seriously energizing scenario! Keep these videos coming, this is top-rate content 💌💌💌💌
I like how 'Toyota Supra man' thought he could shake you off - until he realised that he could not. 😂 Yes, that massive slingshot speed does come though on the video - very impressive for a two tonne ➕ car. 🙂
I've never driven this course in real life, but I've driven it thousands of times in Project Gotham Racing. But that was years ago. It's eerie seeing a course I know like the back of my hand being driving in an EV. The only EV in PGR was a prototype Ferrari, but the "look & feel" of it was exactly the same back in 2007 as what I just watched. (Yeah yeah, except this mad lad did it for REAL - huge respect!)
It's ironic that seeing the word 'Turbo' on a Porsche used to hold the promise of extra power and high performance; in the EV era 'Turbo' means that your car has enough powerful, high performance cooling fans to stop it from melting. 🤭
The Taycan is equally easy to drive on track than it is in city traffic or on the motorways. It’s a perfect car really. In my experience over 6 full track days just those season in my 4S, the battery manages 3 full 20minute stints before loss of power and you go below 10% SOC. Consumption on track is 70-80kwh/100km. Very planted and extreme confidence inspiring on track🤩
Shmee, this has to be one of your most exciting Nurburgring laps! The car is extraordinarily fast, even on camera. The tension can be felt as the car squeals it's way through the corner hanging on for dear life. It's big and heavy as hell, but it makes for white-knuckle driving! Would be even more interesting to test it on slicks.
Surprisingly good. I am amazed at how quick it is out of the turns. Also continue to be amazed by Tim's prowess on the Ring. It must be a little strange to not have the same sense of speed that you get with gas powered cars with a transmission. But Tim seemed to pass a lot of cars while doing his first two laps in a heavy sedan.
Not sure if you just got the windscreen repaired and then this happened at 13:00, but what an epic photo for the end of the video with you and Puppi going round in the Taycan and the Supra in the background
Got the same atrocious range on my pachyderm (Audi etron S sportback), always driving it on dynamic. Reason why I’m going back to Tesla; too much compromises on traditional car manufacturers trying to build decent EV
That where some great laps... Would have loved to see the speedometer keep up with your pace a touch more. You're not afraid of taking any curbstones diplomaticly said. Great job Tim. You're showing us what this great car can do live tested! 🤟
Never heard any VROOM! VROOM! Tim! Just the sound made from the tyre's. I don't think I could stand owning an Electric car. I'll be doing a lot of walking in my old age! (Keeping myself fit and strong!). I must say Sir your driving is becoming much better. Best regards, K.
Wonderful Golden Hour run around Nurburgring! I think this was faster than the last run I saw you do, maybe because of the relatively silent engine. I love the whir of the Taycan though, much more pleasant than the plastic silence of the Tesla. I will have to plan a trip out there. I am hoping still to relocate to London and this will be my first vacation spot.
Interesting video. Decent pace too. I drove a Taycan Cross Turismo at the Porsche Experience Centre at Silverstone a couple of weeks back. I'd not expected the car to be good on track, I have one on order as my daily, do it all, driver. I approached the track session knowing the car was heavy but was very impressed by the handling and the corner speeds it carried. I'll stick with the GT3 on the Nordschleife though.

Very nice Tim! Taycana are surprisingly nimble cars for its size and weight. Looks like great fun going around the ring in it.
