    Good choice John,
    I also have one the same No 482 in Western Australia, picked it up just over a week ago. I am 61yrs old, ridden all my life and this is my first ever Harley and I am loving it.

      Thanks Wayne. Now that you have experienced the Motor Company's products at its best, you will NEVER look back. Also, on a side note, I have owned several GTO's over the years, including a brand new "Pontiac" (Holden Monaro - 6.0 LS2, 6-speed) that was a blast to drive. I currently have a completely restored black on black Pro-Touring 1970 GTO with 480 hp LS3 crate and Tremec 5-speed through the dealership that I am employed as the Sales Manager. www.RKMotors.com

      Yeah, the torque that V twin produces is awesome, just getting used to the different riding style. My GTO was a HSV (Holden Special Vehicles) GTO V2 had the LS1, great car all Chev running gear with an Aussie designed and built body.

    Thanks for making this video. You've made a superb job of modifying your Fat Boy... and inspired me to build one as similar as I can. I found a used one the same today and put a deposit on it without riding it... so hopefully its as nice to ride as you said! The only Harley Ive ever tried was a Fat Bob... which was fun to ride, but the Anniversary Fat Boy just looked so much better. Cant wait to get one! Such a helpful video. Thanks again for making it 🙂

      Thanks Chris! I made my videos specifically to help people like you. If the bike you are buying is anything like mine, you will LOVE it. It is the PERFECT "convertible" motorcycle with great looks, functionality and with the stage 2 kit (high torque), awesome performance with no sacrifice in smoothness or reliability. Happy to help!

      Hi John. I'll hopefully find out tomorrow if I can get it... but your video made it a much easier decision. I think your bike looks beautiful... brilliant choices of upgrades, and great advice too. Fingers crossed I can get the bike and make it the same as yours. Who'd have thought a cruiser like the Fat Boy would have made a great tourer too! Im buying it out of my retirement money with a view as single person bike to tour in Europe. Ive got a BMW GSA 1250 for when my wife want to go away too. The Bmw is a great tourer, but doesnt have the same kind of Harley soul... not such a good cruiser neither 🙂 Maybe the Fat Boy will be the perfect second bike. Thanks again for your time and excellent video!

    How did the bags hold up? Just bought the 30th anniversary as my first Harley. Did you have to relocate the turn signals? TYVM for the video, your set up like I want, a light highway bomber.

      The bags are still like brand new after over 2 years in both appearance and function. However, my bike has never been in the rain and miles are still under 2,800 so it is well preserved overall. I had my dealer install all of the accessories prior to delivery but I don't believe that the signals needed to be relocated. Last, you're welcome for the vids...hope you love your bike as much as I love mine. Set up with the touring accessories, it will be, as mine is, the perfect light highway bomber.

      Hi Fred! Congrats on the bike.....I see the videos on the Jekyll and Hyde exhaust and the concept is similar to the electric cutouts on musclecars. Haven't seen any American distributors yet though. I would be curious to hear how they sound on your bike and if you have dyno numbers with the Stage 2 cam, that would be awesome! I am contemplating going further than Stage 1 but not if it's at the expense of smoothness, like I'm sure the horsepower cam would cause. After all of the talk on my video about how I intended to leave my bike alone, I just couldn't help ordering a set of Vance & Hines Eliminator 300 slips ons and the Harley Pro-Street tuner! Listen.....ah...music to the ears!

    Hi Karthik, I added the engine guard to protect the bike in the unlikely event it goes down. Frankly, I didn't care about what it looks like, although I happen to like the way it looks. If the bike goes down, it would get all torn up so I'd rather just replace an inexpensive engine guard. Much cheaper and potentially far less heartbreaking!

    Hey John
    Which is a better bike
    Fat boy or Fat Bob
    I live in India so riding is very different here . Broken roads, sharp turn, crazy high humps/speed breakers.
    I am gunning for fat boy but also have the fat bob in mind.
    I currently ride a street rod

    • @marylandmotorhead-johnonei6038
      @marylandmotorhead-johnonei6038  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Soham and thanks for the question. Anytime I can help a fellow rider, I will.
      I personally chose the Fatboy over the Fatbob not only because I like the styling better but also because I HATE the forward controls on the Fatbob. Floorboards (such as those on the Fatboy) or mid-mount controls are just ergonomically more comfortable and give you better control of the bike, in my opinion. They are also far more comfortable than pegs. However, the Fatbob is set up for more aggressive cornering (which is probably safer on your roads over there) so you will just have to test ride both to see which one you are more comfortable on. It's a tradeoff. With the roomy floorboards and a 240 rear tire, the Fatboy is more at home in a straight line (but still handles great) whereas the Fatbob emphasizes performance in fast sweepers.
      Whichever one you choose, buy the 114 engine instead of the 107, if in fact it is available in India. More torque equals more performance, even if the difference is not huge. Hope this helps!

  • @nevillegreg1

    I have a 2018 Low Rider, the stock seat is very good - for the rider. But crap and very uncomfortable for the passenger - my wife is very critical in this regard. You didn't mention this aspect of the stock Fatboy seat. Higher up on my list of 'must haves' is handling and cornering clearance, hence I went with the Low Rider. If you say you haven't scraped, then I am not so sure you are riding spirited enough to suggest that the 240 rear tire is not a compromise by HD on looks over function. Reviewers who have actually pushed the Fatboy on mountain roads have a different opinion to you on that fat rear tire. That said, congrats on your bike, it not only looks great, but is very versatile and practical with those accessories. I have done the same to my Low Rider, except I went for the Memphis Shades Road Warrior faring (which I colour matched to the bike) and with a 17" screen for the highway. Of course, I replaced the stock seat with a Sundowner to keep the Mrs happy.

      Hi Greg and sorry for the delayed response. Admittedly, I don't ride as aggressively as I used to but honestly, the 240 rear tire has never posed any handling issues for me. While I love a nice handling machine as much as the next guy, I prioritized acceleration and responsiveness and have no regrets.

    • @marylandmotorhead-johnonei6038
      @marylandmotorhead-johnonei6038  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks for the compliment. No, I didn't test ride a new Road King because I wanted the bigger 114 cubic inch engine, which is unavailable in the 2018 touring bikes from the factory. I have ridden a 2017 Street Glide Special with the Milwaukee Eight 107 and found it to be a huge improvement over my old 110 cid '07 Road King in every possible way except high rpm response. The ultimate hp, according to my "seat of the pants" dyno, felt about the same. However, the bottom end and mid range torque of the 107 was superior to the old 110 and was MUCH smoother to boot. I just had to have the 114 after I test rode a couple (a Heritage and the one I bought) because it offered even more power and torque and that is my hot button.

I am leaning towards the chromed Bassani Road Rage III system, which looks bad ass, sounds even better and will boost torque even further. My Stage 2 high torque cam and auto tuner will compliment the pipe perfectly. My bike is already a rocket but I expect the Bassani will elevate performance to the next level.

      Hi Ken and thanks for your compliments on my Fatboy. I love the Heritage too but in the end, there were several factors that swayed me towards the Fatboy. First, I think that the styling is AWESOME; particularly the wheel and tire combo and the satin nickel / brushed aluminum look on the rocker boxes and exhaust system. The Heritage just looked a little "frumpy" to me with the skinny laced wheels and the same old chromed hub in the front of years past. In addition, I noticed that the throttle response on the Fatboy was lightning fast while the Heritage (maybe it was just the example I rode) exhibited a more tame (slower) demeanor. The Fatboy definitely had crisper throttle response and superior power, even with the same 114 engine (or IS it the same????) Anyway, 56 years old, 58 years old; none of that matters, as long as YOU like what you bought. I didn't buy my bike to impress anyone other than myself!
      Anyway, your Heritage is an awesome bike too and if you're ever in Charlotte, look me up and we'll do some riding together!

      I bought the 114 but wondering what is the difference?

    • @marylandmotorhead-johnonei6038

      The difference between what? Mine is a 114 as well. Do you mean the 115th Anniversary package?

    • @DONMAZ7
      @DONMAZ7 6 лет назад

      yes, what is the difference between a regular 114 Fatboy and 115th Anniversary Fatboy?

    • @marylandmotorhead-johnonei6038
      @marylandmotorhead-johnonei6038  6 лет назад +1

      Mechanically, there is no difference. Cosmetically, there are numerous differences. Every 5 years, Harley celebrates their anniversary with special edition paint sets. They will only be manufacturing 1,100 Fatboy Limited Edition 115th Anniversary bikes, which mine is one of. They are serialized (mine was the 261st built out of the run of 1,100) and tend to be more highly sought after as the years go by, especially when they limit production like they did this year. Mine is Legend Blue and Vivid Black Ltd. Edition example while the other choice for the Fatboy Ltd. Edition is the Legend Blue Denim (the dull blue finish) with the "tattoo" graphics instead of the brass eagle medallions on the tank. Limited Edition paint or not, the 114 Fatboy S is one Bad-A and beautiful machine! (The S is the 114 engine option, which is the only engine available with the Limited Edition paint.)

    Iv'e just bought the Fat Boy, I was keen to see what you have done. Good review and information, ... camera work is shocking! to close all the time, shots of the road, you talked about the windscreen, but it so close it didn't give a good view? Sit through the video?

    • @marylandmotorhead-johnonei6038
      @marylandmotorhead-johnonei6038  6 лет назад

      Barry, the problem was that I held the camera vertically instead of horizontally and I had a professional marketing guy reconfigure the video. Check out my brand new video that I just posted this AM entitled "May 13, 2018 Mother's day Ride" and you will clearly see everything much better. Live and learn, right? Thanks for the interest.

      What about the bike? I have shared all of my feelings about this bike! It runs, looks and rides better than any bike I have ever seen, ridden or owned. Does that answer your question? I am in love and highly recommend this particular motorcycle and everything I have done to it. This bike ROCKS!

      It's nice to finally see one kitted out. I've also been a big fan of RK Motors, they've always had some great '70 Chargers (way out of my price range, but they look and sound unbelievable). It's definitely a great place to spend a Powerball Jackpot. ;-)
