I can't imagine myself being the only human in the world, I wonder how lonesome george felt
play mine craft lol, ignore the villagers
+Osama Bin laden how are you alive
+Muhd Naufal I was never assassinated, it was all a big lie
+Osama Bin laden tell me, was obama your brother all along
Yeah, how did you know?
My eyes got real teary watching this. Knowing that how these animals were once so plentiful that the idea of them being wiped out is beyond comprehension; and now just seeing a FEW dead specimens of them on display in museums chokes me. Humans tend to be ignorant and take things for granted, and it is very often too late when we realized as they are gone.
Like the planet with global warming.
Tim Banch I agree buddy
Sometimes is not out of malice. Even early humans have proven to be too efficient a predator for some species.
Tim Banch It's even sadder knowing all this happened in just a few decades.
Even without humans animals go extinct this is how the planet and its nature works, so stop crying about extinct animals
that Lonesome George is one sad story.
BangTango yes it is, that story got me so sad 😭
what do you mean.. all of them are sad
I know I was just crying because of George the whole time
They found new tortoises of his kind.
Ohozelot Lol
I can feel the sadness in his voice.😥😥
I feel it too
his voice and narration was so moving
I will be sad for five days
really hit me when he said how humans are so effective at driving a species that was once so plentiful, into extinction. Because that is the truth.
This is sad. We take, take, take and don't even care to notice.
Not all of us take
Not all of us notice
Over harvest
Zaheed Chapman we ALL take. sorry to tell yo but even you do and you dont know it
mochalexy The more you take, the less you'll have...
Rest in Peace George
you're not alone anymore :)
Rip :(
BigBadWolf that was deep😢💔
George waited 52 years
Well theirs no afterlife and if there was I’m sure animals wouldn’t be a part of it. so yea he still is. :)
Vod Kinockers Well isn't someone ignorant. What makes you think only humans could have an afterlife?
See how taxidermy can serve as both a record and memorial of the world's threatened and extinct species.
It is sad to have these animals that are extinct to be extinct because of mankind. But, I just realized the benefit of taxidermy in preserving what these animals looked like while alive. So, taxidermy is like a lot of things in life--both negative and positive!
extinction is sad but as a learning tool these preserved specimens are invaluable. and maybe help stop the mindless killing of other species
:(
I just can't help but to think that it is sad to mindlessly kill an animal but if it is dead, it may carry on future knowledge (the only thing positive).
😢
Just imagine, many years from now (or maybe _not_ so many) people will look back at this time we live in and say, "back in 2015 there were still some elephants in the wild" or "there were still some rhinos roaming free." Because at some point there won't be. There will be specimens in captivity or they will simply not exist anymore...like in the movie *Bladerunner*
Not Pulverman lmao not always, recently a species of rhino went extinct, also that was just an example
Actually it was after the black rhino was declared extinct that mass amounts of people and organizations started to help them,. And yes they are slowly increasing in numbers but not fast enough to be declared not endangered anytime soon.
Im crying
I don't get it, people hunted these animals down and only care about them when they're now extinct!
@@jajah07 typical human behavior, sadly
I haven't heard this perspective on taxidermy, it's interesting and refreshing. I normally associate taxidermy with dusty museum decor and novelty roadkill squirrels.
FeloniousAngel umm k
I think of bates motel seems with Norman lol
My takeaway in these trying times, "How effective humans are in a destructive of a species that was so plentiful"
You can just hearing his heart breaking in his voice. You can tell he really has love for what he does in trying to educate people to not repeat the same mistake and remember the species that are now gone.
This is a really beautiful and respectful application of taxidermy. I really like this as an opportunity to learn and be educated. It's so sad to see so many beautiful creatures lost forever
I got to see lonesome George while he was alive in the Galapagos. I also live in NY so when the exhibit opened i went to see him again and it felt like a funeral. So sad but they did a very nice job preserving him.
This is a bit depressing... One second there a thousands and next thing you know there are none left anymore....
They were here first. We invaded there space not them invading are space.... Humans are selfish creatures....
If you believe in survival of the fittest, than don't complain about it.
fluffy leaf *cough** *cough** *when animals go extinct it effects the whole ecosystem. It can also effect us. So the saying survival of the fittist has two different veiws.*
John Gill That's like saying "if you believe in [sic] anatomy then don't complain about Hitler".
It makes no sense.
What a wonderful, short but eye opening video. Natgeo - your my fav. Thank you 🖒
Thank you for showing this
Thanks for the great video !!😎
Good info thanks
We humans are wretched things.
Joe Biden's Shotgun not all of us kill animals do we? Blame the poachers kid
bruh them birds blocked out the sun for 3 days
Umm your a human right?
Zaheed Chapman no poachers dont kill as much as industrialisation that destroyed their habitats
c o m m u n i s m how's that even possible?
Every animal has rights too, just because they can't communicate, doesn't mean they are brainless animals that don't care if they die, us humans are basicly a pest on earth, we even slowly kill our only home in the universe. We even don't learn from our mistakes from history...think of it like this...right now people think wolves as a pest and needs to be gone, In the future, when the wolves are gone, people a will think of them as an animal that once was here and now is gone and we will feel sorry for it. Recently the black rino as been confirmed extinct cause there only one left, people don't realize about things until they are fully gone. We may be the most smart being on earth, but we act like children without proper parenting, it feels we are not even going forward, we keep on living the past...technology advances but people stay the same...
Vincent Zepczyk Animals are no different than trees and plants. You don't complain about the millions of trees "killed" to make toilet paper, wood, medicine, rubber etc. So don't complain when humans use animals for their own purposes. Like plants, animals should be of benefit to humans, otherwise we're wasting their potential usefullness.
DynamicSphinxxx sooo, what your saying is...you don't care for our future generations, u can't compare a tree with another being, a tree is alive yes, but animals have minds and feelings. If you are comparing then u might as well say humans and machines are the same also...we are mindless drones Doing what others tell us to do
Vincent Zepczyk No, I believe he is saying that we should use animals as a resource, much like trees, because everything on this earth is ours to utilize. What I believe is key, however, is the proper management of said resources, otherwise we end up putting species into extinction and causing much more destruction than what is necessary.
KeusFrench thank u!
+Vincent Zepczyk omg i totally understand, wolves were gone in yellow stone national park and the herd animals took over and the foxes grew in numbers, they introduced them back and all the sick and injured herd animals were eaten by the wolves and the forest was getting back to the way it was, the hills and grass actaully grew again making meadows instead of the herd animals just eating all of it and trampling on it, the animals became healthier as well with the sick animals being eaten so only the strong and fit and healthy mated once again, everything was back in order.. but not everyone is happy with this, people want to hunt them again and get rid of them because they think of them as pests when the herd animals ate basically everything on their lands, people are the real pests and the real danger... animals wouldnt attack us unless provoked, harmed, scared or have young around, we do it for fun
I still remember when Lonesome George died. :(
Very profound feelings stirred up thinking about and seeing lonesome George. Powerful and odd dichotomy with taxidermy.
Touching
This got me emotional very deep and touching 😢
We are like terminator to other animals.😔
And that's 100% true. 😔
Dhiman Deka it's survival of the fittest. Human kind is the greatest example that brain gets you farther than brawn
we are a virus
humans are like a virus
I feel so ashamed of being a human and that video made me cry 😢
I love your channel guys
This is why i hate people who made animals go extinct because some animals are fasicnating like the tasmainia tiger
chimeng vang It's Tasmanian Wolf
stfu
Angela Dandelle the guy in the video might say Tasmanian wolf but it's definitely called a Tasmanian tiger but literally everyone in Australia.
The proper name is the Thylacine, most people in Australia call it the Tasmanian tiger. People outside Australia normally call it the Tasmanian wolf
Paleo Motion I live in America and this is the first time I've heard someone say Tasmanian Wolf. I've always heard Tiger.
This video is amazing
WHAT ARE WE DOING TO OUR BEAUTIFUL PLANET? 😞😔
Simple
SLOWLY KILLING IT.
the planet that produced us and we destroy it if it gets destroyed we will too
it's like being born killing your family and then you die because you have no one to take care of you
I surprisingly cried... damn
The music... it's the goddamned music... WHY?!?!
Makes me so sad to think of extinction, just think of it.
Touching, had me at tears.
Its so sad how we are the reason so many glorious animals meet their extinction.
There is an unfortunate bit of misleading in this informative clip. No, the people who created the original AMNH dioramas did not just think “Oooh, the bounty of Africa, let’s plunder it.” No. It was far more complex than that, and it’s a disservice to our naturalist ancestors to think of them in such a base way. Carl Akeley (for whom the African Hall is named) knew that the wildlife and wildscapes that he saw in Africa were under grave threat of being wiped out, and worked to carefully preserve these naturescapes of the past to educate and inspire the public. Frank Chapman used his bird habitat dioramas to help educate the feathered-hat-loving public to stop plundering away these magnificent birds.
It’s easy to look at history and villainize it - DO NOT mislead the public about these beautiful works of art. If you wish to inform yourself further, please seek out the books "Windows on Nature" and "Kingdom Under Glass" for a start.
However he is right with the statement that people had a different view on nature that days. Today people are more sensitive about animals in general.
LadyeStagsleapStudio It is also easy to look at thr present and villanize it too
I can only imagine that for every person like the ones you describe, who cared, there were a hundred more who didn't. Just like in present time. Seems that apathy is the illness of our species.
Amazing video.
This made me cry! Good documentar y 10/10
For all the sad people who are saying that humans must go extent, I tell them this. I assume that you now know the impact of our harmful actions on our planet. Why don't you use your energy to counter those harmful actions, instead of writing meaningless and useless comments. There are a lot of opportunities one can do to improve and protect the lives on this planet. There are a lot of volunteering opportunities out there, and there are a lot of actions one can do in his home that could help even a little, like recycling and many others. Spend your time and energy wisely in doing something which will have a positive effect on the future of our lives, and I wish you all the best.
Ahmad Hamdoun Like getting Trump impeached :)
Ahmad Hamdoun yes exactly. Complaining won't help anything. Be the change you want to see.
I was assuming all of us were doing this xD
Just beautiful ♥️
Just Beautiful.
Amazing
Sad that these animals went extinct.
Mohamed Farouk "sad"? who do you think have caused it? Is there someone to blame?
Boyd Albanna Even if there's no one to blame for their extinction, it's just sad they do not exist anymore.
Boyd Albanna How stupid you are. Go fuck yourself, you little pipsqueak troll. I thought you were a civilized human being, but you turned out to be a piece of junk.
Boyd Albanna oh my god you are stupid
*"Don't it always seem to go, that you don't know what you got, till it's gone."*
i always cry watching videos like this
This video is making me extremely emotional
And cruel human thinking that he is civilized now.
Selfish human
this make me cry i love animals so much
the feels though... made me cry a bit QwQ
Wow it's like the best thing ever!
Listening about the extinct animals was so sad and the music added a lot of emotion
This video made me very sad. Very moving video. I remember reading posts on when Lonesome George died only seems like yesterday. Some people think Taxidermy is gross, i think its very fascinating and may consider tanking beginner taxidermy classes one day.
It’s actually really sad you can hear in his voice that he wants to cry.it’s actually really sad and look at what we have done.
love it😭😭😭
I love animals And this made me cry
What is the song that plays through this video? It is so nice.
Zeek yes! i've heard it somewhere before..
Looking through his eyes even for just a brief second, I felt the longing and sadness of Lonesome George. Now he and his entire species is extinct, we only have ourselves to blame- If only we have done something sooner.
My heart was melted
The music, and the story of lonesome george actually hit me.
George's story made me cry....😢
RIP George🌹🐢🌹
aww. lonesome george really got me in the heart. rest in peace :(
This made me tearful 😢
This video never gets old😭😭
Lol I am still crying
That video made me cry.…...
This makes me so sad. It reminds me of all the beautiful creatures I used to watch during animal planet or nat geo specials. Now they've gone extinct, and no more specials are aired about them..It's also sad to know that my kids may never know/see the animals I've grown up loving.
They're all so beautiful...
id love to visit that museum
Wow, my heart 💔
I just close my eyes and feel the sadness of being alone . Just like George. The pain .. :'(
georges story is so sad.
I feel like balling my eyes out
What's the name of the music in the background???
This is cool
Ugh, such a sad video but good video as well.
got me in the feels
All these beautiful animals destroyed by humanity, very sad. It would be beautiful to see all these animals thriving and running in their natural habitat enjoying life.
Lonesome George made me cry
0:49 I can see you, blood brother. Up the Irons🤘🏼
It's quite sad that a lot of species went extinct by the hands of humanity, but this world is forever changing and everything will end at one point, even humanity itself.
I truly enjoyed this video in a way that I haven't thought of taxidermy before. It is so terrible the way that these species go extinct with hunting being the primary cause. The Lonesome George story had made my eyes water a bit and I hope that this video opens up the eyes of many and that a majority of the human race can take action in saving and preserving animals left on earth. I also hope that we can learn to appreciate these creatures :)
broke my heart
i didnt know my tears r falling from my eyes..😢
why did this make me cry
This was pretty emotional.
Wow
That is so sad 😭😭😭😭😭
What a beautifully sad video
People must learn and wake up now. We have to protect this world given to us
Ok but why did I cry
Fayerise TFM you good human 😊
It's the music in the background.
interesint
I practically cried
Wow the Tasmanian wolf was so beautiful...that broke my heart
Taxidermy is art and history, what is important is how the animal died, never should a specimen be killed by human hands for art, however, natural death can and should become an artistic teaching tool for posterity
I just wanted to cry 😢
The way he speak and the way this video is edited makes my cry
Really touched my heart..wish we could bring all those extinct animals and live in harmony😔
man this video got deep real quick ;-;
almost cried at the lonesome George part...almost
As a Tasmanian it's strange to hear the Thylacine be referred to as the Tasmanian Wolf. I've never heard it be called that before, here it is known as the Tasmanian Tiger.
RIP
This video actually made me cry because humans don't deserve to live on Earth.
