I just saw my first of your videos (4 days in the Tetons) and now I know what you meant when you said that you missed having all the stuff you need in your Jeep. Compared to the 944, it's HUGE! ;-) Tip; don't spit on your suction cups. Wipe a thin film of vegetable oil instead. It won't dry out and lose the seal. Also, tie a piece of paracord around your suction mount and just tie it off to something; door handle, roof rack, wing mirror, anything to keep from losing it. Funny enough, I've been thinking of down sizing from my old school Defender to maybe a 924/944 Safari for long distance expeditions in Africa. Really paring it down makes some things easier. Not crazy enough to go motorbike pared down though!! Cheers from over here!
Idk if you’ve tried this, but I’ll use a magic arm and mount it to the top of my camera cage and attach it to the headboard of the middle seat for that back seat shot 🫡
NIce one dude, thanks for taking the time to do all these. Nice one. I do a lot of car indoor shooting preparing for my second channel coming up. For the car mount, I use Ulanzi SC - 02 mount. pretty powerful and sticky !! For the outside mount, I used a magnetic double or triple mount stand instead of the suction. It's more stable and reliable.
ncie tips and I also shoot a ton of automotive content, I really find that using a decent action cam like the newer dii ones with an ND is much more stable (no ibis on) yes it's not my fx3 but less shake, less risk of damage and I have 4 of them to go on all over or inside the car at any one time and takes as much time as 1 dslr setup. Sorry not preaching, just thought I would give my learnings from over 200 odd car shoots. (90% of the image quality with less shake, less time and much more mounting options is a winner for me at least)
The problem is for everyone watching on a real ultra wide monitor. Obviously you don't have one. Your hard baked black bars makes the entire video boxed with black bars 😭@@JonnyRoams
@@uhtyler this isn’t the place for you then :) as I primarily film with anamorphic lenses I’d rather show the entire frame in 2.4:1 than conform to a 3:2 aspect ratio.
Shooting RUclips videos on an fx6? Come on man give us a break.
@@Burritosarebetterthantacos ok pal 😂😂😂
Guy at the skatepark yesterday was shooting a RUclips video with an fx6.
Why not?
@burritosarebetterthantacos Nice username, mate. 😂
noticed the car seat - wow the fact that you're doing all this while raising a kiddo is very inspiring! Keep it up, my man!
really appreciate that thank you! He's the best part of my life!
Been waiting for this!!!!

What’s up Kofi! love your vids bro!
Late to the party in finding you on YT, Jonny, but glad I did! Awesome vid. And great to meet you this summer.
I belive the shot with the tripod in the back seat is giving a more immersion with the shake
Thanks for the tips really great advice!!!
Such an inspirational video! The colours throughout are gorgeous 😍🤩

Good informative video pal, get yourself a tether cable for your suction mount, like a redundancy cable?
@@Trident_Media7104 at 1:36 I say I should use a tether 😂 I have a bunch now
@ I didn’t catch that bit 😂 I know all the SmallRig ones come with wire cable tethers now. Always worth it as you don’t want to run over an FX6 🙈
Love to see the process bro .. .defs one of the better videos out there showing how to! Also realise I need to do more mount shots in the future

So so good, those anamorphics are sweet, and those drone shots were👌, you’re a big inspiration Jonny, from a fellow Brit🙌
Awesome video man. I can really appreciate a lot of this like scrambling to get the shot before the light changes. Thanks for sharing. New sub
I use tethers to my suction cup mounts. That way if they come loose they just hang on the side of the vehicle without hitting the ground.

great video. if you may ever need an editor let me know. I like how you know the angles and use them.

Man this is awesome. One quick question from a new videographer... do you keep all your footage? do you delete unsed ones? How does that work?
