Here’s the idea, Nick dresses as the MC of his weeks Miyazaki, and Danny dresses as the villian from his weeks scooby movie and you fight it out, see who really wins. I’d pay for this
"How many scooby door movies can there be?" My grandfather used to buy a different scooby door movie on VHS weekly for us to watch, there is indeed many! The ghoul school was also one of my favorites
* GASP * The Lupin slander!!! 😱 Lupin originates from France. There's like 17 novels and almost 40 short stories. The character has got around over there years. 😂
You need to watch Lupin. The films are all stand alone epics. The only thing you need to know is that the characters are all friends and who they are, which you now do.
They've been saying that this season is boring, but they don't know about elusive Samurai and wistoria Wand and sword I wish more people knew about those anime

You guys should definitely watch Grave of the Fireflies, easily one of the darkest movies he's been a part of, and this and Totoro releasing around the same time is a wild concept
I'm gonna be 100% honest, this is probably one of my favorite episode's because when you guys have no anime to talk about, it becomes so funny. The Saw bit had me cackling, even the whole Nick keeping an audience hostage got me good. Love this podcast man 🤣
The creater of FMA Brotherhood has another anime called Hero Tales, also @DannyMotta Hiro Mashima has another manga int the works called Dead Rock and an old one called Monster Soul. Also who wants to see Danny's Fairy tail manga out of curiosity?
Lupin the 3rd and its massive iconic influence on the history of anime and pop culture make it feel like must-watch content for any anime podcast host, but that's just my opinion
On the Nausicaä ending abruptly thing I would like to mention that there is a Chinese/Japanese/generally asian story form called kishōtenketsu that doesn’t follow the western 3 act structure, so if it ends in a way you feel is abrupt it could be jarring because it follows a separate structure narratively than the one y’all are used to
That's crazy cause the only Miyazaki film I've seen is Spirited Away and that was like a year ago, but this past weekend I decided out of nowhere to start watching all his movies so I watched Princess Mononoke and imo it's way better than Spirited Away. But I'm getting the feeling that it might be his best work, hope not though. So I'll be watching these movies on your guy's pace
For the Hex Girls, there are 2 movies with them in it. The first is Witch's Ghost and probably the one that Nick was talking about as an awakening (felt). The second is Music of the Vampire
I feel like the cat returns would be a great reaction movie for Danny. Sense there are hot cats. Also Danny you don’t need to watch whispers of the heart to watch the movie
You guys should add Pom Poko to the Miyazaki list. It’s not him but I think he was involved somehow and it’s a very similar style and very good. Could be fun to discuss
You know, I feel like this is a good time for you guys to catch up on shows the other has seen. Like I think Nick could catch up on Bungo and talk about it, and Danny can catch up on Naruto/Boruto (At least the canon stuff) and do that ya know? Or if there's a big anime neither of you have seen like Gundam or something idk. Make this a catch up season!
Castle of Cagliostro is so good!! You don't need to know about Lupin the third to enjoy it. Gorgeous animation, a fun mystery, cool fight scenes, fun and interesting characters! And here's a fun fact about Lupin the third. Monkey Punch did not have the rights to Lupin's grandfather and got sued. But the french Lupin books did not have the rights to Sherlock Holmes and also got sued. And now we have Herlock Sholmes in the Ace attorney video games because of that.
How are they starving for content with Elusive Samurai, Wistoria and Shoshimin all coming out right now. All three have incredible animation and so far the stories are pretty good.
Could also change the pod name to “Scoobied Away” or something. Never thought I’d hear scooby doo and Miyazaki movies discussed at the same time but I’m here for it.
I feel like doing multiple movies in a row might get a little stale. I'm here for it, I'm just hoping that you touch on some contemporary shows or maybe some big ones from a few years ago that newer weebes might be less familiar with Just to clarify I do love his movies bow wow and have very similar theme / archetypes
I'm definitely interested in the Miyazaki and Scooby doo talk lol but i also think it would be fun to see you guys go over an anime you usually wouldn't. There's a lot of good anime out this season but most of it isn't what yall would usually talk about.
Anybody else watch this after Trash Taste's episode and wonder how these are the top two "anime" podcasts we get? Also, yay, an excuse to watch my favorite Ghibli movies again, as well as the ones I never got to see. Brb, gotta watch Naussica now. Okay, back. Let's do this. It's a good, weird movie, but you clearly can tell how he got into his field with his unique style. Love it. So looking forward to the next two weeks since Totoro is my favorite and Spirited Away is a second fav. TOTORO IS NOT ABOUT NOTHING! It's two girls grieving the loss of the their parents, and the eldest (the protagonist) finding her ability to have a good, wonderful life after such a terrible loss, and her and her younger sister bonding again. IT IS NOT ABOUT NOTHING! I've never had to the urge to correct you Nick, but I can't stand for this slander. Also, Totoro and Spirited Away have probably the most "deep" protagonists, but even it's not that deep so I get it. But the music and tone of Naussica does make it really relaxing in the first half. His musical scores go so hard. I totally agree. But dang Danny, you got a VOICE. How do you not have an album out? Also, that Cain joke killed me. For someone who's not a believer, you seem to have a decent handle on what's in the Bible. You even got the authors' names correct. Luke was a doctor. Nick, you're right. It's SO fun to hyper-anaylize something. Clearly why I enjoy your content. Also, as an English lit major who teaches, I'm a little hurt but sorry you didn't have good ones. But tbh, at the end I was like "how is Teto still alive? This thing's been thrown so many times.". I've never seen Monoke (yet going to with this series) but she would win because Naussica would be all peace-making. Ponyo would get so beat up. Love Ponyo but yeah. Haku would probably work with Naussica tbh. Yes Stank. It was like listening to my students all over again. And having lived in both Florida and the midwest, you'd so die to an aligagator before you'd lose to a bear. I've liteerally seen both irl. Aligators are fast for their size, both in and out of water, and they're so much more vicious than a bear. A bear will be scared off, a gator would not be. Tbh though, I stopped caring about Marvel after Endgame and it makes me sad. I love Wolverine though and I'm not even going to see Deadpool with him in it. Spiderman movies are literally keeping me invested. Scooby-Doo and co. in an anime like AoT or Kaju No. 8 would be WILD. I love that idea.
At least Trash Taste acknowledged basically from the beginning that they're not really an anime podcast. OA is far more anime-centred so them writing off this season is crazy.
@@TheGentlemanVox have to agree there. But they don't like what's out now and that's their opinion. I don't mind them doing something else if they're genuinely more interested in that.
