FR, even if her commerical was a flop it was on par with Gottmik, and Gottmik had a worse runway. It should've been Utica vs Gottmik or Tina vs Gottmik if they really wanted Tina to be in the bottom before the last 2 comedy challenges (which she had the potential to do well in)
Sue me, but Kandy should have been in the bottom just for the runway.
@@LightestKing The thing is... there was no way Gottmik survived that lipsync. At that point of the season is was more a matter of pruning out the queens they didn't want in the final, and those were Tina and Utica, so whichever of them lost, production was okay with that. But yeah, I agree that this was their best moment to take Tina out.
I think by this point Symone and Gottmik had their spots in the final pretty secured, Utica and Tina were pretty much out, and Rose, Kandy and Olivia were in contention for the two remaining spots. Olivia did poorly in this challenge and then bombed the roast, so she got herself out there, and I feel that was part of why Kandy won the roast, because she did good and it was necessary for her to have at least one win going onto the finale.
I think production actually would have preferred to have Olivia and Kandy in the finale instead of Rosé and Kandy, but Rosé kept exceeding expectations, doing really well in the roast and winning the third challenge, while Olivia underperformed in both, so eventually Rosé won her spot in the finale instead.

The thing is, Tina wasn't doing a bad job, she was slaying too. It's just, Utica was in a gown, looking like the lady of the night ready to suck your blood, and you kind of want her to. In short: Tina was fun, Utica DEMANDS your attention.
I hate that Tina was almost looking at Ru or the judges the entire time as if she was saying, look at me.
Not to mention Tina forgot to lip sync half way through

Great example of that is like the final lip sync for the crown between Yvie Oddly and Brooke Lynn Hytes. Brooke was all over the place and doing soo many power moves and death drops. But Yvie is just hypnotizing like it's impossible not to look at her. Also another example is the lip sync between Latrice Royale and lil Kenya Michaels. Kenya was doing some ballet, splits and taking off her wig but Latrice really showed emotion and i still believe she got possessed by a real Pregnant Woman at that lip sync. Even tho Tina is a great lip sync-er , Utica showed that it's not only the power moves that wins. It's always emotion and Utica definitely showed Emotion by her facial expressions in the lip sync
Utica tapped into one of the main underlying themes of this song, the seductive power of women. She performed it like a Villainess hypnotizing an entire town of people to do her bidding.

I don't think this was an intention here. They just wanted to get rid of Tina. The next challanges were going to be roast and acting challange, in which she would probably excell in. This was the last chance to do it. She deserved to be safe and then literally won the lypsing. But lets be real- would you really like Tina in the top 4 over Gottmik?

The most impressive thing about Utica in this performance is that she turns it in a restrictive dress and crazy long wig when most queens in similar outfits woulda stripped down to nothing so they could do some splits.
Tina is great in this, but Utica did something completely different and off the wall and yet it worked SO WELL. She should have been rewarded for that.

Utica is perhaps the most mistreated artist in the whole show. The producers and the judges lacked taste this season.

It was so frustrating seeing them raking her over the coals for doing the quirky character when she isn't the first one to do that. BenDelaCreme, Vivacious (Ornacia's vehicle), Tammy Brown, even Valentina were all playing characters and never really got called out on it but they CONSTANTLY ridiculed Utica for it.
The winner of the season was correct but half of the top 4 was wrong. Gottmik should've been in the bottom at least twice and would've been sent home by anyone in the cast and Kandy literally lost a lipsync and just got to stay because Ru wanted her for drama. Top 4 should've been Symone and Rose + two others that weren't Gottmik or Kandy. Denali (who got sent home because Olivia was bad), Utica, or Olivia would've all made sense in some way of being top 4.

Honestly, Tina was not bad at all, if this lip sync was against anyone else she would've won, the thing is Utica has a lot of artistic views and she added her own twist, which usually gets you further in drag race

@@DanGamboa this isn’t against Kandy but we knew she was biased to Tina as they were friends and the mean girl crew. It’s not bad but I think it’s clear from watching Kandy would always favor Tina because of that connection. I don’t think this is necessarily bad but it’s hard to deny.
Kandy should’ve been in the bottom for that runway alone. Shouldn’t have even mattered how she did in the challenge. That runway was a slap in the face to everyone there.
I mean they were technically 2 total different types of lip syncs , I love Utica but I was scared that she was going home , but she played off her look so fiercely ☺️
she may not be having the best run for the crown, but she's winning in showing her stuff to the world. she said, "it looked terrible on the screen, but i had fun." im glad shes learning how to express her unique style in new conditions on the show, and i hope she can just channel her campy energy with anything she does.

I love how Utica always addapts her performance style based on the look she is wearing. In the Rumors one, she had a fun outfit, so did a silly performance. In the Fascinated one, she was wearing a leotard, so she danced a lot and was a little bit sexy. And in My Humps she is dressed as an evil villain and that's what she was giving in the performance! A truly talented and gifted artist, she always put me in a fantasy when I watch her perform, it always makes sense (at least for me)

@@geckohunter123 well it really depends on HOW you do it. in this case I completely agreed with Ru, Tina started great but fizzled out and was more predictable while some of her lipsyncing was very questionable and some of her moves... awkward. Utica kept getting better, was more original and her lipsyncing was 100% on point. a much deserved win.

I thought Utica clearly won. I've heard lots of "Tina murdered her", but I saw her trying way too hard in comparison. I was not impressed with the running and jumping around. Utica's was done through the character she was wearing, much funnier. I loved the "nono drama", that's when she slam dunked it for me

The only thing she didn't do was acrobatics and death drops, which are kind of overplayed and tired now.

@@EricLeeLeBeau oh haha they're not in literal cosplays though, but i made this joke since kingdom hearts is basically a hybrid of cartoony, whimsical characters (tina) and dark, edgy ones (utica). if you are still seeking for some references, IMO tina reminds me of Ursa Circus (or any dream eater really) while utica has the whole Heartless/Dark Hide/Xehanort aesthetic going on + Ultimecia (from final fantasy).

It’s not just that Utica was wearing a gown for this and won: it’s a form fitting *fur* gown with a train. She also uses the fur muff instead of throw away the obvious constant obstruction on her arm. She kills the performance without stripping a single thing off and to a super high energy song. I come back to watch this all the time as it’s so iconic it drops into my mind all the time from just being that exceptional a performance ❤

When I saw the song was Humps, I thought Tina had it in the bag. But throughout the lip sync, I was drawn to Utica more and more, and I think Tina became desperate by doing all those crunchy moves. When Tina did that random slip ‘n slide across the floor, that’s when she lost me.
I couldn’t agree more tbh, I’m a Tina fan but when she slid across I was like “what was that” I was constantly drawn to Utica because she took it in a different direction. Tina did what was expected for this song!!
Yes!!!! Utica also has a unique way of lip syncing that i think the judges find very refreshing. We expect what Tina might do in a lip sync, with Utica it is never the same.

For those who thought Utica wasn’t giving as much, y’all ever heard of the term “Giving Face”? Sometimes when you have natural stage presence, you dont need to do splits or cut a rug. Now Tina had it from the start, but along the way especially around 2:34 she got too excited and lost the rhythm and timing with the lyrics while Utica never lost control from beginning to end.
Ppl dont understand lol in a stage there will be always the energetic ones, the gymnasts, the dancers, the blah and blah, they expect every queen to do splits and funky moves.
