I was just going to go buy it because I was looking for something like that. I love ride paths! This video isn't even an hour old but the link is a dud already?
So maybe its a difference between Florida and California versions, but since this was one of my babies when i worked at DCA, a few notes: The canopy is pneumatically (pressurized air) not hydraulic (pressurized oil) controlled. Scents are done by a beaded filter material with individual tubes going into the squirrel cage fan each seat has in the canopy. The carriage itself has a single park air connection that runs the brakes, canopies, and scent air, and restraint unlock. When we ran IMAX 70mm film our goal was always to get 10,000 cycles before having to replace it. We did this 5 times before we replaced the film projectors with the 4 christie laser powered 4k projectors in use now. Also a fun fact: the DCA version of Soarin over the World was supposed to approach over DCA before turning and flying over Disneyland. This was all shot (with World of Color on the pier and the Red Car around Cathay circle) but was cut due to time as the extra 5 seconds would have dropped capacity.
@@chuckdillingham Oh gone are the golden days when the People Mover was called the People Remover because it took care of stupid guests like that... forever.
Just went on at Epcot. You woulda swore it was the first showing of over California. At the end everyone cheered and chanted bring it back. I cannot agree more..
These videos are so the opposite of Tick Tok. They make us all smarter while still being really entertaining. I am so glad you were able to post a new one. It's been a long time. (Though I enjoyed the Charlie Brown stage show videos too).
Thanks, yeah I try to make things palettable with ride tie-ins 🙂 Also, the Jelly of the Month Club is back performing for Halloween so I'll probably have another few videos of them some time this month.
I'm from Camarillo so seeing our little town make an appearance out of nowhere in Disneyland (with the best scent of the whole ride -- oranges) was always so exciting, so the California version is far superior according to my biased opinion
We’ve got a similar attraction up here in Minneapolis at the Mall of America called “FlyOver America”. The ride mechanism is very similar to Soarin’, but it loads on three levels and then each rider section slides out like a drawer toward the screen. Doesn’t have the ‘wow factor’ of Soarin’s take-off lift, but it’s still a good ride. In fact, I like it a lot more than Soarin’ Around the World.
I am glad that Soarin' Over California is back at EPCOT. Around the World feels more computer generated, while California seems less. The score is also better from Over California, IMO.
100% agree that California is better due to fewer obviously fake "photogenic" scenes. The only really obviously fake thing in California that I can remember is the golf ball. (And Tinker Belle/the fireworks at the end, but I don't find that as egregious as the constant "a polar bear dives off an iceberg in front of you and then an orca leaps and splashes you!" or "an airplane flies right at you!" or "an elephant throws dirt at you!" or "a kite dives right at you!" that World has.)
This is interesting even though many people are curious about how Soarin' Over California works. It's been discovered that if you sit in the front row with your family, friends or acquaintances, all of you are likely be lifted higher.
I saw a similar concept with two sets of seats connected by a diagonal bar so one set can be unloaded and loaded while the other end is in the attraction area. The somewhat similar ride at Legoland has only one row and rotates around a wall to allow for loading and unloading during the cycle as well.
I'd really love to see a video about Epcot's original Universe of Energy ride. The Kinetic Mosaic pre-show, the turntable system, and the traveling theater are all things that fascinated me.
Yeah they went really quick! I'll definitely be restocking soon. RSR is a really neat idea for one. I'd love to make a big board one too so you can see the cars going.
Just spent 3 days at Disney world, first time out here and I will for sure be back. You’re videos are awesome and taught me so much. Thank you, if you don’t mind me asking how do you film such great videos at Disney I know the guardians one today told us no videos and I know it’s hard to record some of the others.
I wonder if the redeveloped ride system where riders are lowered into place is as much fun as the original system. The sensation of being lifted up really adds to the illusion of the flight, such a great way to start the show.
Okay I’m dying to know- do you, or have you ever considered, selling or releasing the 3D printing files you use to make these ride models? Or if you’re getting them from someone else, would you share the source? I am changing my upper elementary classroom decor theme to Disney, with an emphasis on Tomorrowland and old school EPCOT and patent images and a general focus on the “keep moving forward” and creativity and engineering side of things. These would make an INCREDIBLE thing to put on shelves and such.
I was surprised that the new avatar ride didn’t manage to fill in my peripheral vision as well as Soarin does. As a result Soarin succeeds more in a feeling of flight
What would you call these types? more than 4D but less than a ride characterized by fixed individual ride vehicles moving in sync to a shared main projection (flight of banshee, soarin, BTTF but Simpsons)
I remember this attraction at Disney's California Adventure and I love it. But it's called Soarin' Around the world. I think this narrator should know that before people get on this ride the gentleman that voiced Kronk in the movie The Emperors New Groove and that movie is on Disney plus. By the way, the man I'm talking about is Patrick Warburton.
Love your videos but this one seemed much harder to understand how it worked? I think it’s worth mentioning that if the video and movements don’t sync 100% it induces extreme motion sickness. See Harry Potter and the forbidden journey
I've floated this to both parks before of having them use coaster chasing drone footage over all their parks along with a small flying theater (which is very well priced), but no interest sadly.

I find it interesting that there is always a cast member sat in a fenced off area in the theatre keeping an eye on riders.
I can tell you from personal experience around 2008 that they REALLY keep an eye on the riders from that position.
@@matthewfritzOnce you are in the air you are being watched very carefully
Have you met some of the idiots, I mean guests, that visit the Disney parks? I would be keeping a sharp eye on them as well!
@@chuckdillingham Oh gone are the golden days when the People Mover was called the People Remover because it took care of stupid guests like that... forever.
They aren't just keeping an eye on the people. They're also on watch for anything that gets dropped or falls out of the mesh baskets under the seats.
With the 3D printed models and engineering details, you deserve 10 million subscribers! Keep up the great work!
Subs don't make anyone money, views do. May he get 10 million views on all his videos to afford new trips and then new how they did it videos.
I always enjoy seeing Patrick Warburton do the safety spiel.
Crazy my uncle was an engineer on this ride . I had the blue prints for it when i was in high school. I did a project on it for a presentation.
That is incredibly cool!
Great video! Soarin’ is such a cool attraction, and the ride system is fascinating to watch!

California by far. Thanks for the video!

I like FlyOver America as well!
That's funny, in LA and NY, they too have a ride called Fly Over America, you do it by going to LA International Airport or the equivalent in NY.
I love the little miniatures you make 🤣
These models are insanely impressive
I've been to the original California one, but more recently I rode a similar style ride in Pigeon Forge, TN that had a Steampunk Airship theme.
Either California or the World is fine with me. As long as we get Patrick doing the intro, I'll be happy.
I am glad that Soarin' Over California is back at EPCOT. Around the World feels more computer generated, while California seems less. The score is also better from Over California, IMO.
Yes, I wish they could show both and would make the Epcot one feel like an actual airport.

Everybody's mom"s favorite ride!
This Is Holland in Amsterdam is the only IMAX Soarin Simulator I've ever been on outside of the Disney Soarin Versions
GG video, Also a big W on that 3d print!
Thanks, it's one of the largest ones yet. 🙂 Was quite the task to get it to sit still while I filmed it.

Best RUclipsr ever.
The floor moving down is mechanically simpler also. Anyway, the favorite is "Over CA"
My favorite version is "Masters of Flight" at Legoland.
There’s a variant of this ride system in Vancouver called Fly Over Canada, located at Canada Place
Woohoo I can’t wait!
Love the light rides....Too bad they are sold out. How about making one for Radiator springs racers layout. I would totally buy that.
Yeah they went really quick! I'll definitely be restocking soon. RSR is a really neat idea for one. I'd love to make a big board one too so you can see the cars going.
I'm going to have to look again, but I think there is a counterweight system to lessen some of the strain on the system.
There is not.

The music is so much better in Soarin' over California. It's the one I put on in the background while I work.
I was surprised that the new avatar ride didn’t manage to fill in my peripheral vision as well as Soarin does. As a result Soarin succeeds more in a feeling of flight
SOARIN!!!!!!!!!!!!
What about the slight tilting to the left and right? Is this done with a hydrolic piston?
There is no physical actuation, it's just done by a tilt of the camera.
Soarin to Tower!
What would you call these types? more than 4D but less than a ride characterized by fixed individual ride vehicles moving in sync to a shared main projection (flight of banshee, soarin, BTTF but Simpsons)
Where’s the soaring around the world 3d model from? Did you make it yourself?

It's a pretty old History Channel demo segment that's been pretty beat to death even by Disney themselves.

This ride needs to be updated when i went the screen looked so outdated and worn
When people drop things so general dust gets on the screen it's very hard to clean given the extension.
Why can't non-Disney and non-Universal parks have unique flying theaters? I want a flying theater at either a Cedar Fair or a Six Flags park.
