Ooo bother it looks good! I’ve seen these swapped into Miatas as of recently but never in a buggy! This is awesome 🤘 totally gonna stick around and subscribe. Good work man! Seriously I’m hooked
Jocko Moto yes it will be just as simple and there’s enough room for the engine without cutting much of the body I’m just not sure what I’ll do with the radiator. A friend of mine put one in his bus and actually mounted the radiator inside the engine bay and it got enough air flow with the same electric fan I used on the bug. Another friend mounted his under the bus on its side. Either way seams to work fine
Crawleys garage so cool dude, I’ve wanted a bug for a long time, but without the knowledge to keep it on the road, and lack of space for a broke down buggy. I’ve stayed away, but now I’ve got the space and a small amount of maintaining a vehicle. I might give it a shot some time in the next coming year. 🤞 fingers crossed
Michael Bolton there mounted in the luggage area under back glass near fuel cell. I’ll see if I can look up the part numbers. I know it’s a wix filter and walboro fuel pump
Greetings, I wanted to know if the Ecotec is suitable for off roading, the engine sells quite cheap here and I had it in my mind to use it on my daihatsu rocky.
Mine was done by com and there is no obd2 port.if you can't find it on the wire harness it's not there you will have to have someone add it back in or get a diagram an do it your self
Flame Thrower??? Spark Plug On the EXHAUST???
Thats awesome! I'm currently looking into doing the ecotec swap on a 1970 beetle. Very informative video.
Jose Morales Thanks, when I first toyed with the idea I had a hard time finding much information. Hoping this helps out others
What was the total cost
Who flashed your ECM and did the wiring harness? I couldn’t quite get the name from your video. Thanks
Thanks man! Very cool
What did you do for wiring? I found a company that has a full wiring harness and Ecu already tuned for 500 bucks
I took the factory harness and ecu and had it cut down and tuned by rdm ecotec. They do great work. Everything is plug and play. Super simple
What did you do about your thermostat? I'm starting the same build only adding a supercharger
It’s got a water block so there’s no thermostat. Check out rdm on Facebook he can hook you up
@@crawleysgarage3213 rdm? I looked that up on FB but not seeing anything that I can relate to
Search Rdm Ecotecs. He sales aftermarket stuff for these engines. Everything I bought for mine I got thru him.
m.facebook.com/rdm.ecotecs/
Correct me if I'm wrong ,is there a supercharged ecotech,2.0or2.5?

Thanks! Thinking of swapping one in my vw bus next.
Crawleys garage oh my god! Now your talking 😛 lol think it’ll be pretty plug and play, since you’ve already done this swap here?

pro tip: you can watch movies on Kaldrostream. I've been using it for watching a lot of movies these days.
were did you the high torque starter.? and the adapting plate.? Nice work man.!!
Starter came off a tdi Jetta. Adaptor came from rdm ecotecs on Facebook
Where did you buy the fuel pump and hardware? Do you have a part number for the pump and filter?
Michael Bolton there mounted in the luggage area under back glass near fuel cell. I’ll see if I can look up the part numbers. I know it’s a wix filter and walboro fuel pump
Awesome! Im doing an EcoTec on a sandrail. What serpentine belt did you use?
I just got one today it is K050345 MASTERPRO BELT 17MM X 894 OC
What was the name of who hooked you up ? I herd Ritz ecotec
Greetings, I wanted to know if the Ecotec is suitable for off roading, the engine sells quite cheap here and I had it in my mind to use it on my daihatsu rocky.
It’s great off road.
Who was the parts guy on the adapter plate to tranny ?
Do you have to reinforce where the motor is mounted? I really wanna swap mine into an ecotec
Yes I built motor mounts. I should have that video posted soon.
Nice job, what transmission is it? That’s the 2.3 or 2.0 eco ? Thx !
It’s a 2.2 engine with a 6 rib vw bus transaxle.
@@crawleysgarage3213 how much abuse you think the 6 rib will hold with the 2.2
What kind of radiator hoses did you use? Those look nice.
Keith Wempe there aluminum flex hose off eBay. I’m hoping there a little more durable than a regular rubber hose.
great video. Very informative
Awesome video.
Body panels specifically the declid looking for the on that loos like a scoop
where did you get your wiring harness
Rdm Ecotecs (989)701-0238. All my Ecotec stuff came from this guy.
Haha never mind was trying to add it up from the paper. Saw the total at the end.
What fuel filter is that?
Thanks a lot of good Info
Your very welcome!
Gents, I have a 2.2 ecotec on my sandrail, where do I hook up my scanner in order to scan the engine? I can't find the port
Dorian Juarez should be an obd2 port somewhere in the harness. If Rich made your harness it should be near the fuse box and computer.
Mine was done by com and there is no obd2 port.if you can't find it on the wire harness it's not there you will have to have someone add it back in or get a diagram an do it your self
GM Ecotec Swap a 1974 VW Thing bro....do IT!
I’ve been keeping an eye out for a thing. Had one years ago.
👍👍
I am completely over any love I may have had for the VW bug engine, time for a liquid cooled motor.
I think you need vacuum going to the fuel pressure regulater on the fuel rail
I’m not using it I have another regulator next to my fuel pump
