This was one of those sets where absolutely nothing went right. I went into it feeling pretty confident, which is not always the case for me. I do feel like my prep was very solid in this one, and I *basically* got the matchups I was looking for. Unfortunately, the games themselves could not have gone worse. Jumpy had pretty much the perfect responses at the perfect times. If there was a decision to be made, he made the right one, and I made the wrong one. Luck did not favor me in these games, but I can't say it mattered much at all either. Regardless, I had a great time playing in this tournament. Being featured on this channel and reading everyone's comments on my games was great fun. GGs everybody, good luck to Jumpy and everyone else.
After watching the lead match up in game 1 I walled away with a few conclusions: - Drill Peck Zapdos is the answer to most of life's problems if most of your problems come exclusively from a bug/fighting funny little guy - If you have God and Anime on your side, Rock Slide and Megahorn are 100% acc moves.
Kollin if you're reading this you have been my favorite player in this tournament this far with some really zany and fun teams. Proud of where you got to and what you brought to ADV Revival
Is boom turn 1 ever the play? I feel like using boom that early when you have almost no information about the enemy team is just silly. And zapdos often uses sub turn 1 to scout/ try for a miss.
In general, no, but I suspect this was a play Kollin had specifically prepped for me. I have been spamming Tar lead with Skarm in back so I'm sure he planned a Houdini lead based off of that. Also, the only Zap lead team I'm known to use doesn't have Substitute (or Protect, naturally). Unfortunately for him, this was a new team--and I respected Kollin's prep too much to be weak to Tar counterleads.
I wanted Kollin to go so far... The first 4 turns of game 2 I was SCREAMING at my computer screen "KOLLIN! AHHHH KOLLIIIIN!" I've been well and truly Joevered today.
That’s a viable strat called Houdini where you boom turn 1 because you lure out Skarm. Protect is also uncommon on zap. So the play wasn’t as bad as it looks
@@beam5655 Personally, I think Blisey is to blame for Baton Pass not being banned yet. Probably if the fat lady leaves, baton pass will too. But the fat girl is very broken. She takes Meteor Smash +1 without problems. She has access to any type of recovery. Calm Mind+Boltbeam+Seismitoss. It's even unpredictable. In generation 6 I always thought that the problem with Mega Sableye working so well in stall is Chansey eviolite. She stops any special moves. Sableye lost against a lot of things, but thanks to the fat girl, she made the task easy for him, and the other 4 members. I would have banned Chansey+eviolite in that generation. Here it is similar in 3 gen. If Blisey is banned, Chansey is still there. You could try removing it and see how things work. If after 20 years the metagame continues to be modified, once again it wouldn't bother anyone I guess. And by the way, Jirachi is another one that is well Broken, the only thing that limits it is Dugtrio+Blisey. Although Chansey could deal with him too. Jirachi more than anything is broken because of his stats, type, calm mind and HAX.
Blissey holds this format together. Necessary check to special threats with many ways to pressure and take advantage of it. Blissey gives players more control and creates better gameplay overall
@@jimothygaming Blissey has always been pampered. Proof of what I say is that Blissey is still useful despite the power creep in generation 8, without any change, not even in movements. And other pokemon are not even used. Now, about the 3rd generation Blissey is so OP because physical attackers rely on moves as hidden power, or have weak stabs, or both. And she can resist them easily. She is so powerful that she can easily beat any special attackers 1v1 even at +6.

Such a humble comment! Loved watchig your sets!
great performance!
"Unfortunate" doesn't even start begin to describe my series...
Hey man if its any consultation you were the peoples' champ
Protect zap in the second game was gut wrenching

You are very kind, thank you
As an amateur Colin/Collin/Kolin/Kollin main-personally-this is insane.
Thank you Jimothy. Thank you Zpanther. Dome Ace with some heady plays. This is insane
Like this video to stop Mariah Carey from terastallizing into an ice type and ruining the Pokémon competitive holiday season
Huh. Pretty insane actually

@@jumpy23 So I played against you on ladder today and got outsmarted pretty hard.. this level of prep makes so much sense, I love seeing it.

It's the dome ace
Jumpy looking incredibly dominant in the face of Crash Bandicoot Speedrunning Legend "Kollin7"
to see here a fire emblem LTC beast vs a crash bandicoot speedrunner facing of in a gen3 showdown tournament
This is insane
We're gaming folks. This is insane.
there's a nonzero chance I would've instaquit after the beginning of that g2, the Toxic miss just rubs salt on the wound
Sane & well played games
lead heracross? this is insane
Insane
This is insane.
Is kollin the Charizard trainer? If that is the case then he lost because he did not bring his ace / mascot red version.
You should stream the top 8 or at least the finals live!!
Absurd, if you will
Oh hey I just played against jumpy on ladder with this account. Pretty sure I got messed up.
Who booms at turn 1? 😑
Poor play by Kollin

kollin got insanely unlucky both matches tbh
Kollin did not play well. Unfortunate.
Blisey is broken. It should be baned. Wall all pokemon without choice band, or stab fighting. Is insane.
Blissey is crazy good, but can be exploited. Banning Blissey would probably make special offense overpowered.
