I was watching the game on TV when Kevin Mitchell caught the ball bare handed. That was a WOW moment. Being a sea-going engineer I caught a ship mid-season and was in Kobe, Japan when the earthquake hit. The TV in the crew lounge was on and even though the announcers were speaking Japanese I could see what was going on. It was very upsetting. Even though I couldn't be there for the World Series that was still a very memorable season.

@MGAF688 in 89 the earthquake was a major distraction for them. Without that I don't think they would have been swept.
