- Did you know that you can belt without tension? Belting is a powerful way to sing; however, most of my newer students find themselves being able to belt impressively for only a short amount of time before they start to feel like they're going to lose their voice. Have you been there? In this video, we'll explore what tension free belting should feel and sound like accompanied by some vocal exercises to help you belt with freedom.

I'm here after so many failed attempts on singing hamilton's take a break
Same, u would die of laughter hearing my failed attempts at Elizas part in the harmony lol
You do not know the amount of times I’ve tried say not no this
y’all can reach those 😭?
a mix also works well for that harmony!!
courtney, take your break-
Thank you! I've been using this for "Dead Mom" from Beetlejuice The Musical, and this is helping a lot. Considering I'm 12, I was very discouraged about my belting, but this helped so much!
Kaitlyn Kenney be careful with singing dead mom she sings in a way that could hurt your voice be careful and don’t strain it! I’m a year older and working on belting too
WOAH WAIT IM 12 AND IVE BEEN USING THIS TO SINGING DEAD MOM OMG
im doing the same exact thing this is crazy!
Wait wtf why is everyone doing the exact same thing at the exact same age.... like me....
I have found my people...
I CAME HERE FOR THE SAME REASON!!
(I'm 13, can I still be part of the club?)
I want to try belting so bad I've never even screamed or yelled (I'm a quiet girl) but my parents are always home. When they do leave my brother is home -_-
I’ve never been able to belt correctly. I’m going to a preforming highschool for freshman year and I wanna be able to belt!
No idea why someone would say 'the channel is dying'. I am a teacher myself and I know that for teachers in all genres and all fields, if they are able to teach even just one person in the whole world, they have done their job. So guess what, keep it up.
Thank you so much for your kind words, and thank you for watching 😀. I agree with your thoughts, and I appreciate your perspective. I hope you have a great day.
This totally works! I’ve be struggling with one note but as soon as I tried the hey thing I sang it with no strain at all
Wow. You are a brilliant teacher! Never have I belted a note that high! I actually did it!!! I subscribed and tapped the bell❤️
So happy that this helped you right away 😀😀😀😀. Thank you for subscribing and welcome to the family ❤️♥️♥️.

Dude, I better hear some of those on your Instagram! I always say to my students, “Whoever said sing g was pretty was a liar!” Lots of funny noises to help us make the pretty ones 😀.

That’s so encouraging! Thank you so much. You have no idea how encouraging this was.
this is really helpful for me, as i started out with dead mom from beetlejuice but that was almost the peak of my vocal range for chest voice, but i REALLY wanted to try to do world burn
I know I'm late, but thank you for this, i have to sing some Kiss songs at school and i was really hurting my throat. This helped so much.
I used to be able to belt very well and I started choir this year for school and now I can't do it so I'm here to learn again
I love this, thanks
You’re awesome 👏🏻 thanks for being so positive and encouraging xx 🦋
Such a helpful vocal coach! Some other vocal lessons I watch on RUclips don't help me, but this video helped a lot. Thank you!

Really loved your vibe in your explanation. Thank you for your work, especially the bit about oversinging.
Liked & subscribed! I'm a 37 year old mom of two and I want to feel that powerful freedom when singing. Im 100% sure I sound like a trapped mouse when belting. I will binge watch all of your YT vids and learn more! Thank you for sharing. Love and Light

I’m here, because I really am struggling in belting higher. I am trying to sing I say no from Heathers and during the chorus the higher notes feel flat and forced. I am like literally in tears, because every tutorial I find it doesn’t seem to help much. I’ve been in choir for years and music even longer. I am a soprano as well so I can sing high in my head voice and well, but I have a hard time belting in my mixed voice. I don’t know how to belt it out without feeling forced or flat. I try relaxing but it feels like my vocal chords tense up anyways. Anything really I am grasping for any help here. I do the exercises and I have good breathe support, but I can’t seem to figure this out. :(
Twin
This was fantastic! Never thought about the diaphragm that way, thank you!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching never stop singing 😀😀😀😀.
Most of us come here to sing Ariana Grande's songs. XD
Yep. I can do the touch it whistle notes but I sound terrible😅
nah man this is for the musical theatre kids 😂
AYO YOUR ADRIENETTE PFP- DID U SEE THE NEW TRAILER OF LUKANETTE-
@@karizmagillespie yesss, I'm so exciteddd
@@urma8720 actually those are high falsettos
thank you for this!! i’m trying maggie’s high note in “at the ballet” from a chorus line and it is HARD. i can reach the note, but i want it to be healthier and sound not so screechy. hope this helps :))))
That didn’t feel like.. belting? I dont know nothing really felt different. My mom always told me she lost her voice when she first belted so i musta been doing it wrong
maybe she did it wrong because she shouldnt have lost her voice if she did it right.
Your mom probably had no breath support and she could’ve been yelling while she was belting. That’s a common mistake, even most famous singers sing that way. It may make your voice sound good, but makes you lose your voice afterwards
if your mom lost her voice then she wasn't doing it correctly.
What having 4 octaves of vocal range matter when I always strain my belted high notes 😭
I feel very comfortable with whistles, so not hitting the notes is not my problem
I'm here for spark of creation for my audition tomorrow but I am still a little nervous cause I didn't have long to prepare. My biggest problem is just making it healthier because it's very strained
Wauuww thankyou so much 🙏🙏🙏 like really 🥺
So happy that this helped! Thanks for watching.
I’m working on being able to belt in higher notes, I feel like at times my voice is too loud. Those who do Kapahaka will understand 😭😂 also learning how to sing with a mic so helpful thank you
Saving this for when I'm home alone 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
4:40: Hey hey hey OOOH I DO I DO I DO I DO I DOOOO HEY!
Thank you so much for this lesson! You're awesome! But I'm always not sure if I'm already belting/ mixing voices, or if I'm still singing only with head voice, because it's loud but not as powerful as I see some singers do, so how do I know? Thank you in advance 😊
😎Halo my friend. Nice video.thx for sharing …… Kjell 🎸
Thank you!
My highest note (which is not too high) is from the Les Mis song “I Dreamed A Dream” and I feel like I try to tell it not sing it and it hurts but now I’m tryna fix that lmao
I can honestly say everything she’s saying about the diaphragm is exactly the same in screaming. If you scream from your throat you will destroy your voice and it sounds weaker. I’m just now learning to sing clean vocals, I’m surprised to see so many similarities.
HELP!!! Im playing elsa in a production of forzen, and I have to belt the majority of let it go. I amstruggling mainly becuase by the end, I am practically losing my voice, and I have to sing the broadway ending which is already almost impossible for me. Any advice???
i’m here for wicked
Du you have any recommendations how to learn to relax and be patient? I'm 46 and still didn't find a way 😅
Me in my room at 10pm heyyy hey Heyyy
Love this!
Hiii. How are you. Your and my childhood verry similar🤩
Hi!!! So happy to see you here today!
Mam how about if the high come should i breath deeply or make a like a big ballon in my stomach?
I have struggled a LOT with this emotional side- my jaws get tense the SECOND I am anxious. I have worked super hard for this- now for 2 years. Trauma therapy, taking care of my mental state & stress levels as well as singing rehearsals.
I wonder what difference does it make if you're contralto? I'm not sure if i'm contralto or mezzo or is it simply the fact that I'm a self taught singer - you can literally hear me belting and making it softer Édith Piaf (big big fan^^) type version while I sing higher notes. You can also see me thinking "up and over up and over relax relax) My latest one is lovely Shania Twain's From This Moment On. Lower tunes come naturally for me but I definitely have in me to belt higher too.
i’m here to sing veronicas last bit in beautiful and dead girl walking ✌🏻
want to join the training
I’m in lessons, so I know I have the right placement and breath, because it feels right. But even when I do this, my voice still sounds covered and opera like. Any advice? it’s been like this for years and I’m slowly losing hope.😅
Could that possibly just be your voice?
•minnie • try removing vibratto, this sound is probably because you’re masking the belt maybe open your mouth a lil more and transition into an /a/
hi I have a song on youtube call I do anything lord I wont to know if iam singing from my throat on this song
i’m here for the ending of satisfied 😎
ummmm thank you so much
i’ve legit tried everything i can’t belt for the life of me 🙁
Is that mix voice, that you are done in the exersises, like zed zepellin. or are they chest voice?
The Led Zeppelin example was my mixed voice :).
i can't relax knowing that i live in a thin wall apartment and others can hear, maybe someday i'll try again when I have a place of my own
Ok I feel really stupid right now but belting isn’t supposed to be the higher pitched soft voice, but instead your like shouting voice but singing, idk if that makes sense but I’m super confused and am not sure which one cause the shouting singing one sounds terrible but the higher softer pitched one feels too high and fake so I really need help.
using this to sing jatp songs since all of julie's songs require belting 😭
