Im about half way through the new Coffin Storm and i have to say Im absolutely digging this record so far. Fenriz's vox are perfect for this style. This could be my favorite record of 2024 so far! This is exactly what I needed.

What a great video. I loved your comments on chromatic chord progressions and the problems of singing to that. Technical stuff explained with simple clarity. Keep up the great work.

Band name and album title reminds me of a greek black metal band Funeral Storm - Arcane mysteries. They've got a new album coming out in may.

I was an metal fan since I was a kid. My first concert was Megadeth back in the 90's for their Countdown to Extinction tour. I fell out of it for a while but got reintroduced with some serious Big Rig Energy! I heard Kylesa's "We're Taking This" and the volume just could get loud enough.

Listened to Coffin Storm twice though since yesterday's podcast. Really enjoying it, riffs are huge. Open the Gallows definitely my favourite track so far. Fenriz's vocals keep reminding me of early Iced Earth.

Vocals are different than I was expecting, very King Diamond like to me. It is out of my comfort zone when it comes to metal vocals but the guitar riffs are great so I could see it all growing on me. Thanks for the introduction Nate!
On a side note, all I can think of is Coffin Flop from our favorite Corncob TV when I hear the name.

Checking out the Coffin Storm album as I type this. When the vocals kicked in the first guy I thought of was Warrel Dane. This shit rocks!

Holly fuck the 3rd track off 'Arcana Rising' called 'open the gallows' rips so much!!! Thx Nate! Skeletonwitchs beyond the permafrost was the last thing to make me headbang this hard.

Very solid album. I've been missing Fenriz's clean vocals, I dug them back on Underground Resistance but Darkthrone has kinda phased them out.
Lamented Souls put out some decent stuff. Fairly heavy doom, less trad. ICS Vortex was on vocals, so its kind of interesting to hear him in a different context if you're used to hearing him in much more well-known bands like Borknagar, Arcturus, etc.

I had to impose a temporary self ban on Coffin Storm already cause my riffs starting to sound like a cover band- so good
