They will never call out their fellow officers. The only cops that I know of who actually did this, is the 12 cops (Black and Latino) who ratted out NYPD, regarding the practice of illegal quotas. They filed a civil suit against the city, pointing out that they were being forced to violate the civil and human rights Black men, Black women, and Black children, via assault and murder.
I am a Black woman, married, two adult sons.
I was a member of law enforcement, via the probations side...assisting young people who were released from prison, and helping them turn their lives around. I retired from my position as Senior Director for the Dept of Probations, in 2016. My husband is a retired detective. He was one of a handful of cops who were appreciated for treating people with a level of respect and dignity.

What he is doing is making a difference. How many black boys and girls he is passing everyday that think “wow he looks like me” and gives them motivation to get out of the hood. Perhaps. Stop being so negative and focus on your impact and not someone else’s.

I love this statement. It is so true, in fact of any public profession where you have authority over others. As a physician, I frequently think about a statement one of my professors shared with me in medical school: "The posture of service is on your knees". A public servant cannot have an attitude of superiority and oppression, that she is above the community she serves.
Of course, this highlights more than ever that making real change in the justice system will take a change in the culture and mindset of police officers across the country. There will still be difficult situations. Mistakes may still be made where an innocent person might be hurt because of misread signals from a perceived threat. But the point is that the underlying hate, superiority, privilege, ignorance, and even fear can be overcome so that black Americans are not disproportionally targeted by the justice system and met with excessive violence.
We really think those black officers are going to say what they really think if they think the truth hell no they will lose their jobs in a heartbeat
People don't get if cops were more like them, cops would be celebrated, loved & respected. The police dept. needs to mirror the percentage of the community. I rarely hear a black cop shooting unarmed person no matter their race.
I commend you on walking the neighborhood and conversation w/ your community. And I think all officers need to walk the neighborhoods a black & white officer in minority neighborhoods to learn how to treat minority people. It will make a lot of minority neighborhoods better. Well Hispanics and Asians face discrimination in many other ways. But since it's always been a violent relationship between blacks and whites, that the primary nature of the relationship. Other minorities cannot even begin to comprehend the complex dynamics dating back to the shores of America. So they always make an uninformed and adenine comment. I hate it when cops say their putting their lives on the line. They make it sound like they doing a lot of work while most of their time is spent riding around and breaking behind buildings and restaurants. They knew the risks when they took the job and many of them most of them don't want to be dealing with the public. The attitude is so horrible and bad, there should be some sort of police reform. If you that afraid maybe you need to find another line of work. When cops have poor attitudes its our lives that are on the line!

Educational courses on different cultures around the world should be mandatory and scheduled monthly along with comprehensive research assignments.
