Because he's a real Soldier and always stands on business. He agreed to keep his end of the deal even after knowing homelander is his son. And was ready to keep that deal even if butcher died from mindstorm. Even after knowing homelander's stronger, he agreed to go after him with just the help of hughie. This shows that his bravado isn't a facade, and he is mostly the man he portrays him to be.
My number 1 favourite supervillain of all time. In just a few episode of screen time, they made Soldier Boy one of the most fascinating, relatable, layered, charismatic villains I've ever seen
I liked his word actually means something, when they revealed Homelander was his son i was certain the writers would make him betray butcher and Hughie, but no, he actually tells them immediately Homelander is his son and the deal still remains. Which is sad he got betrayed again by his supposed teammates. Just as an extra rant, i despise MM now, all season 3 he was complaining Soldier boy killed his family and he would never work with him, and in season 4 he's working with A train which essentially did the exact same thing to Hughie, but there it isn't a problem, such a hypocrite
A critique of superheroes, how original. Critique villains, they deserve it: heroes do not have to be perfect, they can be “flawed” and still do their best.
Soldier boy isnt an antihero, he’s just a villain straight up. An antihero has good intentions despite morally gray actions. Soldier boy isnt good, or even morally gray. Again, villain straight up.
Eh, soldier boy is a soldier. Not a very good one though. I guess that counts as villain but when we see him he's on a revenge quest against other bad guys. Thus he is following his own personal goals rather than a moral compass but his actions take out other bad guys. In a show where there are no good guys, anti-hero is subjective.
@@Loreweavver he doesnt have good intentions, and he doesnt do good deeds. Idk how that makes hime an antihero rather than a straight up villain. Have you forgotten why vought kicked him out in the first place? He is sadistic, egotistical, abusive, and out of control
@midnaight he doesn't have to have good intentions to be an anti-hero. You're making up rules that don't exist. Punisher is the quintessential anti-hero and he doesn't have good intentions. His intentions are murder. He just murders other bad guys. Every member of The Boys is out for personal revenge (except maybe Frenchie.) None of them are heroes. They are all either heroes or outright villains. They just agree together that Vought is worse and with that logic they recruit Soldiers Boy. He is a member of the team of anti-heroes. What don't you understand about that?
what makes him so lovable for me is because we get to see dean Winchester being powerful for once. His strengths in SPN have always been overshadowed by sam's powers so when I watched this show the first thing that came to mind was " FUCK YEAH DEAN IS ON DEMON TIME "
There’s plenty of toxic femininity in the boys, but we don’t really need to see a critique of superheroes. I don’t understand why everybody wants to critique of hero critique the villains they’re the ones who exist for that purpose I mean, so what if superheroes offer black and white morality. I actually like that if you want gray morality turn on the news, we live in the world every day it’s a nice escape every once in a while and not one I wanna see constantly replicate it on TV.
For me he is not a Supervillain. He is an Antihero. He has a trauma due to the Soviets' experiments on him. So the explotion in NYC and in Herorgasm place was not on purpose, but because of Russian music that triggers his traumas. He also didn't kill M&M grandfather on purpose since he was fighting criminals in the neighbourhood. As a soldier, he is tough and rough. Even with his peers. But ask any soldier: they must be heartless in order to complete their missions. The strange thing to me is that Vought didn't use him as a weapon in WW2 as it was revealed by the Legend. It is very stupid for me that USA invested a lot of money to make Soldier Boy yet only showing him as propaganda 2 weeks after D-day (they could just simply sent an ordinary actor, it would be extremely cheaper). On the other hand, Soldier Boy seems very high skilled in hand-to-hand combat, so he could had killed a lot of nazis if he wanted to.
True but ironically Solider Boy’s suit makes Jensen look small even though he’s jacked, while Homelanders’ suit makes Starr look big even though he’s small.
“Anti heroes” I hate that word because anti-means opposite so the opposite of a hero would be a villain they’re not antiheroes they’re just not Boy Scouts. I would disagree and say that antiheroes are more popular. I think that trend is pretty much over for the past decade or so, we’ve had nothing but morally Grey nihilistic answer heroes, and I think people are starting to get sick of it is such a thing as too much.
The reason I like Solider Boy is because of how unapologetic he is. I think we all hate how sensitive, and "PC" society has become since 2015 and prior on. I often think of the line that Stewie says in Family Guy, "It's not 2005 anymore, you can't just say whatever you want." So, seeing Solider Boy who's literally from the previous time period openly critique how soft modern-day culture is with no remorse is just so refreshing. Sometimes it's just nice to have someone who's primary characteristic is authenticity.
Let me put it in layman's terms for you mate. We like him coz he's racist, badass and funny. How Captain America would actually be after waking up 70 years later..
-1 point for actually using the term toxic masculinity unironically. Tired of people pathologizing men displaying normal behavior from their sex. PS: Soldier Boy is liked because he goes against the politically correct that's so prevalent in western culture nowadays. He says true things, no matter if it is offensive.

He’s a villain who goes through and antiheroes journey
Eh, soldier boy is a soldier.

He is a member of the team of anti-heroes. What don't you understand about that?
The real reason is because he is Jensen Ackles a.k.a Dean Winchester from Supernatural 😂
exactly. jensen is fucking kool man. i love coming across characters he's voiced in random DC movies.

what makes him so lovable for me is because we get to see dean Winchester being powerful for once. His strengths in SPN have always been overshadowed by sam's powers so when I watched this show the first thing that came to mind was " FUCK YEAH DEAN IS ON DEMON TIME "

Not to mention, Jensen got jacked for the role unlike the dude who plays Homelander who just wears padding

I just love him because it's Dean 🤷♂

anti-hero just normal people with superpower.

Evil goals
yes
I don't tbf
fair enough
It sounds like you're reading something rather than speaking. Hopefully you get better at this with time!
day 1 of asking you to make your perfect super hero
Let me put it in layman's terms for you mate. We like him coz he's racist, badass and funny. How Captain America would actually be after waking up 70 years later..
Not "actually" how cap would be. Remember Cap had a good heart which then became great after the serum... And soldier isn't racist he's sexist
