  • Every Beekeeper eventually has a hive perish. In this video I take you along as I inspect a hive that died (deadout). This hive in particular has symptoms of both Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) and Parasitic Mite Syndrome. However, both of these disorders, in my opinion, are caused by the same thing - Varroa Destructor.
I also attempt to give a brief synopsis of the major culprits that contribute to hive deaths. The idea is that if you can find out what is causing your hives to die (of course this takes a few hives dying) that the good steward of the bees can take steps to prevent such deaths, which also represent investments in money, time and emotional attachment. In future videos I will attempt to teach different methods of handling CCD and Parasitic Mite Syndrome.
