Thank you for posting this - your video saved me about $500. The dealer wanted $700+ to swap out the heater. I bought the part for $190 (incl shipping) and my son and I swapped it out in less than 2 hours. The hardest parts were rotating the internal canister (@ 6:00 mark) - I used a pliers and then seating the top piece making sure the gasket wasn't pinched and getting the ring to thread correctly. The dealer replaced this once under warranty @ 77k miles and I'm now at 175k miles, so I expect to do this again in another 100k miles.
Very informative and great video! I will be replacing my heater element canister today on a 2014 Cruze Diesel and referencing this video. I had no DEF System warnings on the Dash, only a check engine lamp lit. Using a code reader I had "P21DD." Much appreciate your time and video Carter!
Nice video. My first one was covered under the extended warranty. Now at 186K, it failed again. Not supposed to happen with the new and improved GM part, but it did. Have code P21DD but no reduction in power or speed.
Is that heating element the only component in the def system? Mine says service exhaust fluid system 95 miles to 65 mph. Is the heating element the problem?
P21DD code. I watched your awesome video and had the job done in under 90 minutes including clean up. Thanks. Easy to follow video and saved me a lot of money!!!

Can you upload a video of it running and driving listing the mods and performance upgrades you have added?
Was the car saying ( service exhaust fluid system ) ??? Or was it a check engine code??

You do know this was covered under a extended TSB .......
I know and I think that is a good comment so everyone knows
Carter Anderson I assume You're out of warranty. Mine went at 50 k miles and gave me the countdown very rapidly.
@@haywoodjablome234 Dealership told me they wouldn't cover it because DEF got below 33%
theTYTAN3 should have called GM......
