Hello, new subscriber here! I saw the topic of this and had to watch bc I'm OBSESSED with this genre of frags. I so badly want to try so many of these, especially Bora Bora. My fave tropical florals lately: Kim K Kim K (dark purple bottle, the most amazing darn cheapie, Leah's tropical to my nose and it gets compared to MKors but I like Kim K better!! Others: Choo Rose Passion, T Kalotinis Jasmine Of Athens, Ava Luxe Demimonde (indie version of Blanche Bete, freaking gorgeous and performs really well), Yosh Ginger Ciao, Amarige. Thanks for a great video!!

Video #4....woohoo, I wasn't lying lol! BoraBora is beautiful and actually I adore their body lotion as well, it's on my nightstand and I use it nightly after shower. Wish more companies did perfumes in lotions to change things up. Need to get my nose on Ylang in Gold!

Great lineup Anne! I still own 4 from your list (bora bora, oud Jaune, coconut sun and malachite) Prada le feme is really very made scent but I have since decluttered. Ylqng in gold I was so excited about but was very under whelmed by a couple of years ago. Goes to tell you how subjective the experience is. I would add KILIAN sun kissed goddess, Soleil blanc/eau de soliel blanc, zaharaoff coco loco, Guerlain embruns d’ylang to the list for me. Mind games Lionora is beautiful for summer so effortless.

Hey visually impaired viewer here & gotta tell ya your voice is wonderful to listen to, it’s clear, warm & calming & your descriptions are too good! Um do have a favor to make things easier is there a way that you are price categorize the perfumes like high, mid, lower or actually give approximate prices with the name on the screen? Just a thought…like when makeup YTer state this is luxury priced or high end etc. Just a thought that would help me so maybe it would be useful to others. Anyways love your channel! 😊

I feel like the note is well known but I’m struggling to find recommendations on fragrances that are lily prominent, I absolutely love lily of the valley and its qualities, would love your input 😊
That's true, it's a note that's not as talked about! I will admit, I do struggle to find fragrances that I love with a prominent lily, I'm quite picky with that note, but I'd recommend trying Nasomatto Narcotic V, Frederic Malle Lys Mediterranee, Armani Prive Vert Malachite, Guerlain Lys Soleia, or Histoires de Parfums This is Not a Blue Bottle 1.2 :)

Anne absolutely KILLING IT with the content lately, HOLY 🤯 Does anyone know if any of these are in the same ballpark as "Orchidee Rouge" by Sora Dora? I wouldn't say Orchidee Rouge fits under the "tropical" category necessarily, but it sort of fits that creamy/yellow floral/suntan lotion-y vibe and I love it so much, and I'm still searching for something that makes me feel the same way

Can you please do a video on the best “airy” perfumes?! AND best layering combos in your collection?! … I’ve recently had a reaction to a particular vanilla note … I’m crushed!! The vanilla in Vanilla 28x the guerlain one and Note Vanille .. all make me nauseous now … it’s horrible!! Vanille Antique has the same type… I use to looooce that note!! Well shoot, Anne, four videos in four days might seem overwhelming… yet here you are addressing one of my top favorite categories of all time. Ylang in gold is my reserved “Disney vacation” scent (I enjoy creating a specific scent memory with specific occasions) and oud jaune intense was my bday gift to myself last year (but end of August purchase so delayed gratification). I actually thoroughly enjoy gardenia and tiare, so both white and yellow tropical florals hit for me. Pacifica Tahitian gardenia was a love for me over a decade ago. That let me to adore yves rocher Monoi de Tahiti. From there I sampled montale tiare and Comptor sud pacifique aloha tiare. Clearly I have a loved fragrance profile. Fdb oud jaune intense felt like the epitome of my love. I need this season to truly wear it fully and determine my thoughts. My brain automatically protests the cost (value) bc I am generally frugal. Fragrance and cars seem to be my exceptions… but yolo? 😂

Ylang ylang and tiare flower has been my jam ever since I discovered Guerlain Terracotta Le Parfum!! It’s been a love ever since! To me and this is just my opinion, Terracotta is superior to Tom Ford Soleil Blanc OR Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess which both got a ton more hype. Love tropical floral perfumes! Love this list!! 😊❤
If you love Terracotta, you gotta get your nose on Bali Ha’i 😉

Thank you for reminding me to check out Bora Bora. I don't do 'tiare-frangipani-sunscreen' fragrances as they don't work for me for the very simple reason that they don't remind me of anything intensely nostalgic and exciting in my memory vault. (I don't live in, nor go on holiday to, areas where those notes are naturally in the air as summer scents so the fragrance 'genre' just hits hits a neurological brick wall when I sniff them; there's just nothing in my memory to vividly evoke). It's very interesting to make enquiries into the combination of notes we individually react positively to to when it comes to vividly evoking memories of terrific long summers from our past (geography, culture and all the rest of it counts for much of this). I will definitely give Bora Bora a go as it may not be exactly as I'm anticipating-- a wonderful surprise could be waiting for me and I don't want to write a fragrance off just because the listed notes concern me. Your description of it was terrific! 😃💯💯 I'd love to know what other people crave as a proper 'summer smell'.
I don't think BoraBora will be your cup of tea if you don't gravitate towards tiare, the tropical florals are thick in this one 😊 I'm also so curious to know what smells and notes you associate with summer!
@@AnneLauren Suiren by Parfum Satori makes me think of holidays on the Amalfi Coast, Italy in general. What's funny is hearing all these people talk about Serge Lutens 'Fille En Aiguilles' as if it's a heavy wintertime Christmas affair. They clearly have not read the brief given to Christopher Sheldrake when creating it😄🤦♀ . People are either not very imaginative and confident in themselves or they're eager to be directed and very easily influenced by marketing literature and imagery. I really enjoy hearing YOUR personal interpretations of a fragrance; even if something is coumarin heavy and ought to evoke sweet, dusty haybales in the sun, you are happy to describe the olfactory experience in your own idiosyncratic way. I really enjoy your creative flights of fancy because I'm aware how experienced, informed and erudite you are-- so you can indulge your imagination anyway you please. Such fun. So many people are in thrall to marketing and regurgitate the entire 'vibe' that's been sold to them as a description of a fragrance. Agent Provocateur is supposed to be a sexy chypre rose sold by a racy upmarket lingerie brand; unfortunately it smells of pot pourri and urine stained granny pants. In some quarters of Soho or Berlin, I'm sure that combo is considered worthy of fetish, but not in my chaste corner of the Shire, ahem. 'Under My Skin' by Francesca Bianchi is one fragrance that could have been sold in a gingham-lidded jam jar by a matronly woman at a church fete and I would still have recognised an acutely embarrassing recreation of post-coital odours. Some things really ARE what they say on the tin.
Great video. BORA BORA IS GREAT. Utopia vanilla, don't waste your money. Like most perfumes from kayali they don't perform well.

The only small problem with Bali Ha’i is not to use on white T-shirt. Regrettably it does give red stain. (Except when new, however, the new bottle is not see through anymore.)

That would be considered a fruitchouli. Oldie but a goodie for a designer... i own it and wear it in the fall.

I despise all strong white florals, especially tuberose gardenia and jasmine so thank you for warning me that Bora Bora can indeed go terribly wrong on certain acid mantles. I'm going to go in ready for the jasmine overload and if it doesn't happen, then great, I'll enjoy the pleasant surprise. Better a happy surprise than an repugnant disappointment. When I wear it people ask if I’m wearing BR540 for some reason, I don’t think they smell the same but I guess it gives those vibes because of how the saffron comes off, which annoys me a little because BR540 is an amazing perfume but everyone is wearing it now
On me, Musamam White Intense is a bit too spicy to be worn in warm weather. I don’t really get coconut or a smooth sandalwood. It’s just very sharp, making me wish it had more sweetness. I’m hoping that it will get better with more maceration.
Mine is SO SWEET & then coconut & creamy sandalwood. Crazy to think how different either batches &/or noses can be!
