    Insane match! Rublev managed to come back from being 5-0 down in that first-set tiebreak and win it all. I couldn't believe my eyes! Kudos to Davidovich Fokina, he showed such a high level today. 🔥

      Nah not a good guy. He is dishonest. In the 2nd round against Shang he pretended to pick the ball up correctly after a second bounce.
      And that was a very crucial point of the first set

    Fokina is so talented. His variability is insane. In an era of many boring hardhitters it's an enjoyment to see some elegant talents like him or Musetti.

      As with many things in life, superficial "elegance" may be attractive but it's often ineffective & shallow.. especially in tennis, unless they can actually be consistent - which neither of them have proven to be so far

    ADF seems to be physically incapable of winning a tiebreak against Rublev at this point, that is now 13 match points/set points he has wasted against him 😳

    typical Foki-match: can easily keep up with a Top10-player like Rublev but makes bad (and sometimes even comical) decisions during the big points. He definitely needs a good mental coach.

      Bad mental management.. this is what keeps him out from Top 10. He has skills and tennis to be inside the best ones but he lacks mental part.. 😢😢

      Agree, Foki is more versatile than Rublev, but he ALWAYS makes wrong decisions at critical moments. The underarm serve against Rune at deciding set tb at Wimbledon last year is a perfect example.

    Foki was really amazing, he should have won the first set. He deserves to be in the top 10, he seems to have a fear of winning, he looses at the end the very important points

      Players only "deserve" to be in the Top10 once they actually make it and stay there for a long period of time.. Can't say he deserves it unless he actually does it (which he may still do if he becomes consistent & works on his mentality)

    Mr. Fokina, don't try to use drama to win the game AGAIN. There is a hawk-eye system for in or out, unlike double bounce in your last game

      But realistically do u think that ball can be in? Hawkeye will have margin for errors and such very close calls even hawk eye can't predict it 100% right

    ahhhhh davidovich is so useless under pressure. Props to rublev for recovering after such a tough month but if we're being honest this was a disasterclass in pressure management from adf more than a win for andrey

    Рублев начиная с 0-5 это был совсем другой игрок, значительно выше уровнем. У Фоки уже не было шансов. Но, к сожалению, Андрею не часто удается выйти на такой высокий уровень.

    ADF has a legit trauma facing rublev! He had 5 match Points in Doha and lost, last year had 3 set points in the first set Tie Breaker and lost and now this year up 5-0 in the tiebreak and lost again. Not sure when he can ever recover from this it seems really really daunting

      to be fair, by eye, such a ball could easily have been seen as out, since the mark probably is exactly against the line, fully visible without actually touching the line and not on it. Only hawkeye could see it was 1mm on the line ;-)

      Edit-just seen in an interview he said the courts are more slippery than at other tournaments

      Madrid courts are also more slippery than the other clay courts, so some players might end up being more cautious

      It actually bounced on Rublev's side. The camera doesn't show it well, but id you lokk closely, you'll see it.

    The challenge at ruclips.net/video/ePkW7hnBjcs/видео.html shows the problem in tennis even when "hawkeye" is used on clay. There is always a measurement error with electonic means of determining ball position, which surely was exceeded here, thus the ball should have been called out. Tennis needs to decide whether a ball whose landing location can't be determined to better than 5 mm can be called in by 1mm.

    I know for Kina is a choker, so I’m just waiting for it to happen and sure enough if you double fall on Southpoint against them and he’s up 51 in the tiebreaker and you don’t see those points but how many of those did he miss?

      Вот кстати сегодня истерика ему помогла, вытащил тайбрейк с 0-5. Так что пусть истерит, лишь бы это помогало ему побеждать.
