Rublev did not speak in russion he said how could you call the ball out.
Never denied calling him a moron. Just not the " f" word. 😅
😂
Well he was a fuckingmoron if he didn't call 2 points out whichw ere clearly out
These refs are a bunch of Woke Betas. Punishing people for cursing. Give me a break
He Actually didn't. He called him a moron, but f## was not related to the umpire. It's like a Russian way to connect the words when you are angry.
Could see saying something but no voice, when asked.
Rublev is a great competitive and a great champion, but his behaviour in the last few months is out of control. He screamed at a photographer in Shanghai, he screamed at an umpire in a UTS event in December and now this. Even if him being defaulted is harsh you can’t go round shouting in people faces like that.
I don't think it's harsh at all, everyone deserve the same respect as the next person so they made the right decision. It's also a good lesson to him hopefully that in the future he will think twice before just going off on someone like that.
Exactly my thought. He is out of control, nervous, and complaining always
@@JR-qb7qt🤦🤦🤦
@JR-qb7qt everyone deserves the same respect but Fils said "f* you" to a supervisor and he went away with that and just a stupid instagram story and so did other players. Double standards.
It's okay to scream to a person at who did his work bad which resulted him to lose points. What, if you were him, you would just accept all mistakes and eat it?
Rublev is a nice guy off court but an absolute psycho on it, and this kind of thing was coming
A psycho disguised as a nice man. Psycho is a psycho
Yes, two different people.
Umm he is not nice if this is his true colors.
Some would say that the court brings out the man's true character, when the "nice guy" act dissolves under pressure.

thats correct, no one should scream at officials, doesn't matter what is said
Just said
fing moron is what he said to the linesman.
I think it's cool, actually. Tennis judges/umps are soft. In almost any other sport in the world, they are expected to have a thicker skin.
Exactly! That's why the actual words he spoke or didn't speak don't matter all that much. His action was very aggressive, hostile, and disrespectful. You can argue and become angry now and then. But making an aggressive move right up in the official's face like that is way out of line. Right decision. The supervisor should have said that to Rublev when he denied he swore. "You're not being defaulted for swearing. You're being defaulted for behaving in an aggressive and disrespectful way towards the official."
Finally...Rublev's inability to control his emotions on court actually bites him, it's unfortunate that the match ended this way but Rublev is an idiot for standing so close to the line judge when yelling
So now Rublev was right and you are the idiot.
Youre words are 100 % true
You're absolutely right. He is known to be and has shown to be very nice off court, but needs to learn to control his emotions on court. He has apologised for it and hopefully it'll be a lesson for him.
Rublev: I swear to God
Supervisor: I don't believe in God 😂😂
Shouldn’t he have gotten a code violation warning instead of a disqualification? Getting defaulted just for swearing seems a bit too much.
he likely got defaulted for getting in the line judge's face, being aggressive, and also cursing

Just like his ball
He did the same against photographer few weeks ago when he played vs Hurkacz. I was surprised chair umpire did nothing about it then. Rublev really needs to control his emotions😮
Why are we so worried about the words he said? That was a very aggressive in-your-face thing he did to the line judge. Control yourself, Rublev.
He was on his man period.😂
And on top of that the ball was in 😑

We're worried because what he said disqualified him. Yelling was just a warning. Comprehension seems to be a lots practice these days.
exactly
As much as I like and admire Rublev, he was definitely in the wrong to be screaming in someone’s face like that. It opens him up to face disciplinary action like this. Had he stayed out on the court and said a few words in the line judge’s direction, fine. But to go up into their face like that is completely unacceptable and he needs to learn to control his emotions.
Rublev did the same thing last year in Shanghai, he screamed his lung out in front of a camera guy, "lucky" for him, there was a buffer between him and the photojournalists, the umpire just gave him a warning.
yup - not the first time. Grow up already Andre.
@@mingthemerciless7225 Don't forget UTS Oslo in February where he climbed up the umpire chair and the umpire had to hold Ruby's hand away from his face. Should've been defaulted for that, tbh. This was the last straw.

There's no good reason why in 2024, the Hawk-Eye line calling system is not implemented at every ATP and WTA sanctioned tennis tournaments.
Tennis is a game of millimeters. It's a shame when chair umpires and line judges are still allowed to negatively impact matches with incorrect out calls or make no calls when the ball is actually out.

I am happy to see them defaulted, they have to learn and not be abusive.

Serena weren't defaulted for literally threatening a line umpire with “i’ll shove the tennis ball down your throat”, so a point penalty should've been more than enough. This is dscrimination in 4k.
She never said she’d shove the tennis ball down the umpires throat, nor did she call him a moron. She called him a thief for taking a point from her and she was punished by losing a game. Let’s straighten that out first.
Do I think he should’ve been defaulted? No I think if this verbal insult did happen maybe have him lose a game. However being that Bublik was up 6-5 in the last set, Rublev losing a game would’ve resulted in him also losing the match. So maybe that’s why they went for a default…
STFU...she was disqualified....she actually lost a semifinal in a grand slam.

As to Rublev - he was disqualified for words which he didn't even say, as per umpires decision. So no matter how it looked, it's pure bs.
for people saying it's too harsh, you're justifying players getting to verbally abuse and scream at line umpires doing their job. rublev had every opportunity to challenge the call, such behaviour shouldn't be allowed and it's good that an example has been made of it
I did not watch the match, but maybe he was out of challenges
I can't believe that this happened. I feel for Rublev and the fans. Did he deserve to be penalized? Yes. Did he deserve to be defaulted? No.
That just shows the inconsistencies of the rules in tennis since similar degrees of action haven't been punished nearly as bad as this or even punished at all. Don't forget that players like Tsitsipas, Serena, Kyrigio, etc, have done terrible things, but they haven't been defaulted, which further proves the inconsistencies of tennis rules.
I understand that Rublo's antics are going to be detrimental to himself, and this was the result. What I don't know is why didn't they ask the ACTUAL person who Rublo yelled at if he spoke in Russian or not, or better yet, check a video feed if Rublo swore in Russian or not.
To default, Rublo, based on Word of Mouth (W.O.M), is ridiculous. Poor decision and poor fans who got their epic swatted away.
People supporting don't get it. When Djokovic after failing to convert a break and hit a ball after play at a lines judge throat. She had troubled breathing for a good minute. Rublev has been throwing tantrums for years. He throws fits all the time. Many of these younger players these days do not know how to handle pressure and allow their emotions to take over and act rude and abusive. The ATP allowed Nick to get away with terrible behavior for years which set a precedent. This is a good sign that things might change and players will know that you cannot be abusive towards the officials on the court.
Thumbs up on the statement about Nick
You can't expect civil actions from Russians. If it happens, great, but you can't just expect them to be civil. Would you expect female dogs to curtsey?
You cannot pressure a linesman like that, get into their face and abuse using bad words. If Rublev wouldn't be DQ, then that linesman would be pressured to call the balls in on Rublev's side even if it was out, because of the abuse he received earlier. It was the right decision. No. A game penalty and a heavy unsportsmanlike conduct fine were probably in order. Why there was no hawk eye replay ????
I’m a Rublev fan, and it seems everyone on the tour says he is a great guy, so I’m sure he is. I’ve also played in countless tournaments (NOT pro) and watched a ton of tennis over the years (live and on TV). I know this doesn’t mean I’m any sort of an expert, but I think a DQ was absolutely warranted just based on how aggressive he was toward the line judge alone - and regardless of what he said, and in whatever language. I’m sick of seeing players disrespecting the judges and even worse, the ball kids. These people (AND children; the ball kids…) should not have to put up with any of this mistreatment. Question a call…sure; no one is perfect. But yelling in anyone’s face the way Rublev did in this case is simply not acceptable. Too bad to see an otherwise great match end this way, but absolutely the right decision in my opinion.

The announcer even said "He'd better be careful..."
that's unfair! why judge didn't check video and why he only trust lineman saying???
It's not about whether the ball was in or out. It's about aggression and intimidation towards an official. This shouldn't be tolerated in any sport, or in any aspect of our lives
I really like it when he yells at the tennis ball while holding it !!! He could turn that into his signature move. I imagine a crowd full of fans mocking him each bringing and ball and yelling at it ( in a fun kinda way of course). Haha 😂 he should have done that here.
And Serena was complaining that men gets away with everything? 😂😂
Problem with this is the lack of consistency in all of these calls.
It's all political.
When someone says "I swear to God" it means they are lying.
Especially when that say russians
Unless that someone is of the Orthodox faith.
@@Basso1 Putin is of the Orthodox faith.

As a sportsman you have to be respectful. It is not important if you play for a lot of money or if you play for no money. Rublev is a bad role model. He should tell the truth and say sorry.
First of all, did he swear at the line judge? They didn't even bother to check the camera footage and disqualified him, not fair. Secondly, there should be warning first before flat out disqualifying. I think ATP is so f**king screwed up.
Except he DID say those bad words right to judge’s face
That’s Russia as it is, first doing and then denying! He did speak Russian and it was to hear what he said!
Racism alert
Exactly the same as when Serena yelled at a line judge for calling a foot fault. She should've been defaulted too, but was given a pass for some reason.
If I remember correctly Serena said to lineswoman that "I'm going to kill you." I don't remember what penalty she got from that.
This is not fair. Why don't they review the camera to verify what he said? Secondly, Screaming in front of umpire and breaking of rackets which is better? Everyone deserves a right to express themselves
Damn.... this is unexpected from the ATP script writer for this season.... to write Rublev off this tournament by disqualification!
Very unfortunate… should have checked cameras properly before disqualifying Rublev… disgraceful act by match referee
There was so many matches in the ATP history where a player screamed at an empire or line judge. What is written in the rules ? And what is the common practice ?
Yes he should receive a penalty but why a default. Plus it's not an obvious thing, when a player goes crazy and hurt somebody (willingly or not) which has happened in the past then you can easily prove it but here with all the noise there is no way to be 100% or even 90% sure he heard it right.
ну як, допоміг йому вялікій і магучій?
Conspiracy, that's totally BS defaulting Rublev, like that. WHY not a code violation? I've seen much worse than that. Are we needing some type of VAR system now in Tennis?.
So unfair! .. what kind of strange rules gives 1 person the power to decide who can play or not on the spot..
Line judge should be severely punished for lying if Rublev only said "moron". To those who are talking in a vacuum about fairness, workplace bullying, please review previous decisions by tournemant directors and respond.
In his defense he clearly didn’t saying f@&ing moron, waaay off from what he really said in Russian. What he said wasn’t good and not the best behavior, but it’s soo pathetic by a supervisor to trust another side ref who translated Andrey’s words in a harsher way. Nick had called refs straight in a face much harsher than Andrey just did in Russian. Really bad reffing
Before Taking Such Drastic Action. They Should Consulted The Video. As Requested. 02.03.2024. Dublin.
I love that his appeal got accepted so fast now and that he got all the ranking points & prize money back - he won't get the match back though.
But it makes all the people here in the comments that claim his behaviour caused this look like clowns. Raising your voice has never been punishable, even if it is in someone's face. It's obviously about the words being said and Kyrgios wouldn't have a career if you get defaulted without any warnings just for one insult.
That being said Rublev definitely needs better mental coaching that doesn't focus on: "You win the match or you die."
Wow for him to not check the camera after he requested tell you a lot of how unfair this is for rublev.
Everyone disses him for shouting in the lineman's face but you don’t know how frustrating and unfair it is to be accused that the ball is out when it was in. His anger was valid. Also there was no actual proof that it was out
There is no way Rublev should've been defaulted for that. He has a right to be mad at bad calls. The guy who said he swore in Russian probably just made that up but they just rolled with it and defaulted him. That's pathetic. In professional sports it's ok to yell at the refs for bad calls because the steaks are so high, also peoples jobs and so much money are on the line. To me it didn't look like what Rublev did was even that bad.
He did swore and insulted the guy …
Was it his third code violation of the match, which results in default? Or was he defaulted just for that one incident? And why not review the video? So a linesman can get someone kicked out of a tournament, losing all rankings points and money for matches he won?
"judge Said that we have A russian speaker guy, the match is deafult" what does it men 🤔 why they did not check camera?
Exactly my point.
The line referee must have been Ukrainian I guess, otherwise he wouldn't have gone snitching.
Disgusting racist comment. Made even worse during russia's genocidal war in Ukraine
Bad call by the tournament. Yes, Rublev was inappropriate to do what he did and there should be a sanction. But to default Rublev at this point and time is overkill.
This was unfair. Bublik threw a tantrum after he lost the first game of the third set. He broke his racquet and he berated the chair umpire for several minutes, but he was not penalized on points (and he was not defaulted). What Rubley did was more intense but also a lot shorter. It was bad, but no worse than Bublik’s tantrum.
Both deserved a point penalty. Nobody deserved to be disqualified.
100% intimidation and it shouldn't be tolerated. Rublev is having personal issues.
He isn’t wrong to defend the point. He could’ve spoken softer and farther away but he’s not wrong. The umpire made a wrong call and there’s no consequence for his wrong call? Just give us Hawkeye
Hawkeye is there for challenges. Rublev could have stopped playing the point and challenge. But he DIDN'T. That is his fault.
Rublev did say in russian: "Te dibil" translated "You are a fool".You can hear it in the video.
This is called discrimination, simple as that.
Rublev is his own worst enemy. Not enough detachment and poise at times.
