      @michaelmaye9360 11 месяцев назад +66

      Exactly! That's why the actual words he spoke or didn't speak don't matter all that much. His action was very aggressive, hostile, and disrespectful. You can argue and become angry now and then. But making an aggressive move right up in the official's face like that is way out of line. Right decision. The supervisor should have said that to Rublev when he denied he swore. "You're not being defaulted for swearing. You're being defaulted for behaving in an aggressive and disrespectful way towards the official."

  • @Sports4life8988
    @Sports4life8988 11 месяцев назад +436

    While I agree that they should have checked the footage to try to pick up exactly what Rublev said to the line judge before issuing the default, Rublev really needs to work on keeping his emotions in check. Tennis matches can get frustrating and sometimes you don’t agree with some calls. But screaming at a line judge’s face, whether you swear at them or not, is unacceptable. I’m a fan of Rublev but he needs to be more professional. Hopefully he learns something from this unfortunate experience.

      Serena did the same thing (possibly worse at the US Open), then went on a tirade against the umpire - only to get one point. That's what Andrey deserved - to lose one point.
      Now let's get on with the match.
      Strangely, when the call is wrong - a player can reverse the call in his opponents favour - not here ...

      What the exact words said - and in what language - should not matter much at all. Such curse words are just expressions of anger or frustration, they don't cause major harm. Far more important was the behavior or action itself. The threatening and enraged manner in which Rublev got in the face of that line judge should be ENTIRELY the reason for the default. Not the use of some fucking naughty word.

    • @marcgrondin65

      I understand that Rublo's antics are going to be detrimental to himself, and this was the result. What I don't know is why didn't they ask the ACTUAL person who Rublo yelled at if he spoke in Russian or not, or better yet, check a video feed if Rublo swore in Russian or not.

    I’m a Rublev fan, and it seems everyone on the tour says he is a great guy, so I’m sure he is. I’ve also played in countless tournaments (NOT pro) and watched a ton of tennis over the years (live and on TV). I know this doesn’t mean I’m any sort of an expert, but I think a DQ was absolutely warranted just based on how aggressive he was toward the line judge alone - and regardless of what he said, and in whatever language. I’m sick of seeing players disrespecting the judges and even worse, the ball kids. These people (AND children; the ball kids…) should not have to put up with any of this mistreatment. Question a call…sure; no one is perfect. But yelling in anyone’s face the way Rublev did in this case is simply not acceptable. Fingers crossed he takes this as a clear sign to do some serious work towards changing his mentality while on the court: it's costing him matches.

    In his defense he clearly didn’t saying f@&ing moron, waaay off from what he really said in Russian. What he said wasn’t good and not the best behavior, but it’s soo pathetic by a supervisor to trust another side ref who translated Andrey’s words in a harsher way. Nick had called refs straight in a face much harsher than Andrey just did in Russian. Really bad reffing

  • @MarkBilgin

    Rublev deserved this penalty 1000%. It's about time. He has been acting like a bully for many months. Bublik being okay with Rublev insulting the line judge doesn't mean anything. The one insulted is the line judge, not Bublik. So, that was also a foolish move on Bublik's part. Bublik is not the best character himself.

    There is no way Rublev should've been defaulted for that. He has a right to be mad at bad calls. The guy who said he swore in Russian probably just made that up but they just rolled with it and defaulted him. That's pathetic. In professional sports it's ok to yell at the refs for bad calls because the steaks are so high, also peoples jobs and so much money are on the line. To me it didn't look like what Rublev did was even that bad.

    Outrageous stealing from Rublev He was right to be upset. Obviously the matches are manipulated by empire and those dishonest line arbiters. Beyond the fact matches were arranged to throw out the russian players. The players should stay away from those corrupt locations and fight the dishonest empires.

    • @thumtlnguyen3626
      @thumtlnguyen3626 5 месяцев назад

      Say whatever you want and I'm not sure about the match was arranged not to favor Russian players but the ball was in. I watched it 10 times with very low speed. You can check it if you like. Tennis empires make mistake sometime but it's part of the game's laws and they're final decision makers. If you can't accept it as a law just do not play.
      Finally even if line referee makes bad call you as player has no right to utter abusing word or cursing and shouted right in the face of referee like this Russian player did.

    tbh something like swearing in a different language is an easy crime to be framed for if you so happen to share the language with the accuser and not the other judges, there should be something like VAR or audio recorders if the equal punishment is something as grave as Default.
