Found the infection AUs to be an interesting phenomenon a lot of fandoms seem to have. Would be interesting seeing one for HTTYD, especially if the older material like the Norse Mythos was more utilized in it. One thing I'll note though is while Gronckle’s use rocks for their ammunition, they get no nutrients from them and still need to eat other food like the rest of the dragons. Meatlug outta be careful, still.
Thing is, its noted how they used salt water to flush Cloudjumpers system. This tells me its through fresh water that the dragons get infected, rather than saltwater. Think of the Grimora situation in RTTE. If anything, any and all saltwater tidal class dragons are as safe as they can be.
@@JuicyGeuce I think the scauldron would be kind of immune, cause they heat up water in their stomach and if there are any parasites in the water they drink the heat would kill them.
@@luckyeight4148 yea. Even if it’s something like a Scauldron then the seas would be doomed. Unless Shipsbane{a Submaripper that fought a Titan winged shell shocker. So he should be probably one of the higher ups of the verse like skrill or death song, and he he should probably have a chance against any large infected dragon.
@@Random_guy12-k9c yeah, I think its also interesting that some dragons are immune (or at least don't get infected easily, like the skrill, fireworms and razorwhips.)

Like the sentinels are most likely in that category, since they have taken care of practically every kind of dragon {not any light fury’s or night fury’s or any alphas.} so they should probably know what to do against a infected dragon. And if toothless is there the sentinels will rip him apart. Since they learned how to defeat toothless the second time he was there {from race to the edge}
@@Random_guy12-k9c I don't know if the sentinels would be able to deal with an infected dragon right away, but I think overtime they would be able to, cause the infected dragon probably still has some traits of the dragon it infected, i wonder if they would be immune just because of their stone like armor? I'm assuming an infected couldn't bite through it.
I like this take on the infected au so much. It feels like a non malicious force of nature that’s just taking its toll and not like a world ending apocalypse. I also like how many of the dragons have an immunity to it (suggesting this isn’t a new occurrence). This is pretty much rabies but for dragons. I also want to add is stormfly not effected due to deadly nadders canonically having the hottest fire breath in the series?
The art looks amazing, I love everything that has to do with httyd (but it also makes me sad cause I love these characters.) And belch looks so sad without barf. I wonder what other dragons (wild ones) are infected.
