I swear I said the same thing on a discord chat where the album leaked lol. I really think these lyrics could be about/for John. Like it's AK's way of being thankful that John's back and saying "as long as you're writing songs with me, I will give you my best always", in a poetic way. And he did, AK's melody and flow is a perfect match for the instrumentals on this song imo.
I think AK nailed many great melodies and hooks throughout ROTDC btw.

I basically bought a ticket to the Sunday show at London Stadium not realising that they were doing two shows there in 2022 and that my friends were going to the Saturday one. So I bought a second ticket to that one, tried to sell the Sunday ticket, and then found out later in that week that another friend was going to the Sunday show.
Absolutely no regrets in going to both shows.
The way anthony sings The chorus really sounds like The good old Times. Lovely backning by john also.

there's just so much to love it's overwhelming after years of waiting, but i agree it's one of the best, just so hard to choose one.
Absolutely love this, one of the warmest melodies of AK. The minimalist guitar, the subtle bass and the sweet drums, everyone shines,
This album is pretty much more experimental than the last one. A lot of hits in unlimited love, especially radio friendly ones, but this new album is what i think a lot of chili peppers’ fans where expecting in terms of bringing different references, including john’s solo career, and prospecting the directions the band may take from now on compared to what was left over when john left. Hope to see the band experimenting and freely composing even more, towards expanding their boundaries and affecting more people.
Completly agree with you. As you said, possibly UL have more "radio friendly songs" or perhaps it fits better with no-fans (i mean, public in general). But, as a RHCP fan, i feel ROTDC is what i really was waiting for all these years.
UL was for the record execs and masses, but this album is for the die hard fans imo...

This song gave me an indescribable feeling when I first heard it. It made me feel warm and at home, it’s really a beautiful song. Love the chorus especially. This whole album is amazing, more then what I was expecting, and I had high hopes off the tail of UL.

This is the absolute best song on the album and this might be one of their best albums
This is one of the best they've ever wrote imo and I'm a huge fan since 1989. So simple, yet unique and hauntingly beautiful. I wish I had written it. AK's melody is absolutely perfect for the song and the chord progression on the chorus is unusual, but it works so well that it doesn't sound unusual.
John on the final chorus is sooo sick

Utterly gorgeous backing vocals by John as always, especially the chorus. The rest of the band is on fire as well of course, the chorus even without johns vocals is just lovely, but that seems to always be what I gravitate to.

Remember being 20 yrs old and blood Suger came out and Anthony had that rock star look. The early 90s had one of the best explosion of great bands ever in my mind. Saw them in San Jose and fireworks went off above and behind the stage from the theme park across the way during the song (wet sand) what a great addition to an already great performance. I thought it was a new song because I didn't recognize it. Also I'm not sure if they even knew it was going to happen or if it did happen. If so did they choose that song to go with the timing of the fireworks I wonder.
