@deadgrass1631 that's your own preference and I respect that Tho if I ever make another cover I'll continue making it echo If you hate it that much just skip the first 5 or so seconds of the video I promise I won't change anything else about the song besides necessary changes for it to work on the system yk
I take it you didn't include an 8th PCM track so that if this had been a real game, Channel 8/Logical 7 could have been reserved for in-game sound effects.
0:36 the channel doing the textured melody (dsp1) is close enough, but the original was a modified sine wave with extra high frequency content, easily approximated by adding a sawtooth 3 octaves up at a very low volume. whether that would be possible to recreate on the SNES, i don't know, but i figured that i'd drop that here. still a great cover nonetheless, a really good recreation.
sometimes it feels like sonic could’ve fit very well on nintendo systems. i know now hes on them, i’m talking about back then. he’s not too far off from what nintendo characters feel like.
Wow, this makes me realize how the CD sounds like an instrument, and the snes sounds like a computer, the snes is more precise and sounds more 8 bit, where as the CD sounds like it draws out its notes more and has a flow with its leads, this is very prominent in the synth solo, this is good, but the CD is more pleasant to listen to
@@Pixel_si Not exactly. They both can sample, and have been used to sample, real instruments or other sounds. A lot of SEGA CD tracks that use PCM/FM have the same sampled instruments as the SNES did.
The best part about your CD covers is always hearing the echoing past at the start

@@Pixel_si and i dont like that part

That’s also how it was for the Sega CD, presumably for the exact same reason
i like how you include the past sign post sfx in the beginning in all of these
Very legit port of the song! This is not just a cover, is a 1:1 conversion into the SNES sound chip!
Btw, what's SMCONV? I didn't knew about it
Its a program that converts IT files to SPC-s!
It's really handy!
nesdoug.com/2022/03/02/snesmod/
@@Pixel_si I've known the conversion tool as SNESMOD and not SMCONV...
Es el convetidor IT a spc que utilizo en la mayoría de mis arreglos del SPC700
El chip original del juego, el Ricoh RF5c68 tiene similitudes con el SPC700, solo que no tiene DSP y comprensión de muestras.

This must have taken so much space from the cartridge

@@Pixel_si Nice. Pretty lean actually.
Always thought this song sounded like Yoshi's Island but ironically this came first so Yoshi's Island sounds like Sonic CD past tracks

biggest proof of that is sonic advance as a whole
NICE
This is such a banger! Would you be so kind to reup the SPC file? mega seems down. I'd reckon github would be a better long term storage

The Sega CD past tracks used the Ricoh sound chip which is similar to the SNES sound chip except it sounds clearer
מעולה... אני די בטוח שאפשר לעשות את זה גם עם שאר הגירסאות של השלב!
Spc file download? One in desc doesn't work
Pog.
The GBA remix does the same thing, starting with the Past speech and Salad Plain begin.
Funny how the SEGA CD soundchip works like a SNES soundchip.
Everything you just said is wrong but yeah.

Yep, that was one of their goals in mind when developing the mega cd.
i dont wanna sound like a nerd, but on closer inspection, these versions sound slightly different
This is amazing! How did you extract the samples from the original song? VGMTrans? 🤔
I found a sample pack with every sonic cd sample in it but it was over 2 years ago and i don't remember where i found it.
@@Pixel_si why not share the zip of the samples in google drive please
@K-Tech OMG YES YOU LEGEND
@K-Tech thanks man you coming in clutch
it's nice to see my community help each other
why was the glockenspeil instrument at 0:36 changed to a guitar? to save space somehow?
I assume it was just a stylistic choice because it was literally just a sine wave in the original song.
is it bad that i think this sounds better than the original?
Can you reupload the .spc file?
...Wow
play it through speakers or cheaper headphones and not even the most hardcore sonic cd enjoyer can tell the difference
Thanks
