Here’s the thing Ray, I can tweak my settings to make the cars even more sharp. It’s a rabbit hole for sure. But, that comes at the expense of build time.
@@ScaleModelExperiment ??? But you got the same scale in better detail as you went along (and using a different software site). Are you saying you changed settings on those to make detail better, not that the software provider did a better job?
@ you’re absolutely correct, I changed nothing except the files I was printing. One designer was more detail than the other. Not knocking anyone, but one was designed for a larger scale and simplified for 1/64, other was designed for 1/64. Now I do plan to print the Kei truck in 1/24 someday. It may seem basic at that scale.
Oh wow James, those are some super cool projects! You know I love smaller scales, especially tooned.. and that Hoonicorn Mustang is simply awesome!! Love those 64 scales too, well done 👍🏼👍🏼
For people that suffer from misophonia it's an unbearable noise. I had to skip that whole section of the video. I love the prints though, keep up the great work!
Kool James, thanks for that small look into printing that scale. I have a 1:32 jeep I want to print but was unsure on how to setup the plate and you just showed me. Thanks! LLAP 🖖
@@ScaleModelExperiment It's that free file he gave away last year for free, I think it was the hard top CJ. Aundray, I can never pronounce his name, I speak hill billy... Lol
@@ScaleModelExperiment I was going to print it for Shawn's Small Scale GB in February but I have this 32 Roaster I got off of eBay I was thinking of using. That Mustang you printed would fit right in that GB...😁🖖
Very cool. For my garage diorama I took some of the cars from cults3D and shrunk them to 1/24 scale of a 1/24th scale model to put in a display cabinet. They ended up being ~2mm tall each printed on 2 supports. Quality was of course terrible, but it serves the part.
Fantastic small scale. The reason you got a loss of detail when you scaled down your car to 64 scale was because you scaled down a larger model. If the model is designed to be small you can get way smaller with fantastic detail. You should see if the designer could change the scale for you. If it's done right you should be able to get down to an amazing size. Also, when you scale down you must also make your layer height smaller. Try printing your smallest version and change the layer height to 25 microns, you'll get better small detail.
I totally understand. I did not rescale the files at all. That is the way they were given to me. I do agree that files designed for smaller prints achieve better results. The Kei truck I printed will eventually be upsized to 1/24 for printing. I did not consider changing the layer height when printing smaller. I left it alone at .025. Thanks for watching and leaving me the tips.
One of my clients wanted me to model a small building with a car to go with it that he would print. I told him the car would be about 3mm long and he said it was fine so I did it. Just for fun I decided to print the car myself. It looked good but it was like a grain of rice and I quickly lost it.
Your tweezers reminded me of candle wick scissors. They may be useful to cut through the supports to make it easier to remove them by hand. I may try it.
Hi ! Do you have a link for this Ferrari, I can't find it on Andrey Mezrodny sites !!! That small Ferrari you did, could it be printed in bigger scale ? Thank you ! I really enjoy your videos about resin printing scale automobiles.
For this video I used Elegoo 8k space grey water wash resin. I printed the parts at .025 layer height with 2.4 second exposure time. Your exposure may vary depending on your environment and printer. I recommend running a test verification print. Thanks for watching👍
I imagine you could get some sharpness back if you play with lowering exposure times. The finer the detail the more dialed in you need those settings to be. I haven't used that resin but if you check out some info from people printing tabletop gaming miniatures they often have better info because they are working on tiny things with very fine detail.
@@ScaleModelExperiment I did some experimenting with the normal exposure times with the vanilla 8K water washable. I went all the way down to 1.6 seconds but had the layers separate during curing on a 1/25 scale arm rest I printed. I settled on 2.0 seconds and really didn't see any noticeable difference between the two settings.
Hi Jon, the files were all designed to that scale. The Ferrari was 1/43, the rest at 1/64. If you simply scale down a 1/24 scale file to 1/64 your panels become incredibly thin and you’re begging for a failure.
@ of course. The Saturn 3 is basically the same as what I have for $100 less. Only difference is mine has a self leveling bed. Resolution wise they are the same.
The Saturn 4 is $299 on the Elegoo website right now. It'll probably be that price on Amazon during the black Friday sales. I just recently purchased one after watching this channel and It's a great printer and easy to use. Two people at my work have purchased one after I showed then some of the parts I printed. They have fdm printers but no resin printer.
The further you went, the more impressed I was.

Thanks Karl! The Mustang and Kei truck are also scalable to 1/24 scale when i want to print them.
Can't believe how satisfying that crunchy sounds are, especially when you removed the body off its supports... 😁 Great job, James!!
I could make a video of just that… taking parts off 😂

@@ScaleModelExperiment No, I'm sorry to bring it up. It's just a common thing on RUclips, ASMR seems to have taken over

Great video James keep em coming..love seeing your 3d printing adventures.
Thanks so much Brett, I am enjoying the journey and bringing you all along for the ride.
Excellent detail. That’s good to see as I’m getting ready to print a 1/43 71’ road runner. 👍
I have Andrey’s 72 RR files. Hmmm good luck with your print bud👍
Cool video, james!! That baby Mustang is super cool. I like it.
Thanks Tim, imagine painting it😂

every time i watch your channel i get the itch to get a resin printer!
Haha, it’s another addiction 😂 but fun.
@ScaleModelExperiment 😂 already have a 1:64 diecast addiction lol. this actually would be a great addition to make for dioramas!
@guaripolo69 oh yeah, you could print garages and stuff to go with your cars.
Amazing printed cars! I wonder if there is a file for a 71 Plymouth Fury GT?
@Eddie-di6eb6cv8v I’m not sure, check cults3d for a file.
That’s really cool.

It’s somewhere next to my mirror that I lost from the kei truck 😂
Kool video, James. As you mentioned, if the file is right you can print down to z scale
Let’s not get carried away😂 z scale is microscopic
Super cool good vid!!

That is amazing. I have a printer I’ve owned for three years and it’s still in the box. I’m afraid to try it.
Get outta here! Break open that box and print something! You’ll be hooked.
That cartoon Mustang looks fun. Are the files pre-supported or does one have to create the supports?
Use a bath of warm water when you remove the pieces from the supports
That’s a good point. I washed and let the Mustang pieces dry before taking them off the supports.
