I was born in Belgium, but living in Poland, in my experience, there are not many people smiling in public in either countries, but what I do know is that once you start a conversation with someone from Poland, they are often the most lovely people to have a talk with.
Just because people don't smile doesn't mean they're mean or rude, most likely it is just because they are shy.

I live in Szczecin my friend. If you are in here now, I can show you the best and also the most hiding places here. Have a great time in our city! ❤️

If you laugh to strangers, they will suspect probably three things: 1) you laugh at them, 2) you may want something of them, 3) you are just batshit crazy. So or so, they will be immediately weary and suspicious. In Poland, it's better to approach people with neutral face then when you ask or interact with them, you can start smiling. This will be clear you are being just nice. Smiling all the time and without a reason is just suspicious and weird for us. We would like to ask you: "What are you drying your teeth for?".
As to people not being there, this is typical winter. People are not hanging out outside. The only people outside are heading toward something. Most cities in Poland in winter will be like this if I'm not mistaken. Warsaw or Kraków are some exceptions, because they are main tourist and business centers, full of foreigners and tourists.
When it comes about center, I have no idea, I haven't been to Szczecin myself. For a long time I also thought that every city in Poland will have "rynek" (main square in the center), but some cities don't have it. It's still weird and disappointing. All cities need to have "rynek" :).

Jakimiś odpowiednikami rynku mogą być Plac Orła Białego i Płac Solidarności, jest też zamek, są Wały Chrobrego, po prostu tam nie trafił.

And yes, that story of Hitler honorary citizenship is complicated. It was never revoked, but present Polish local authorities say, that it was III Reich decision, and in modern Szczecin honorary citizens are only these peoples, which got citizenship from 1990. ;) So, that is not true, but, because it is controversial (by the fact, it was never officially revoked), sometimes different groups want to proceed that, but some city authorities often don't want, saying this was III Reich decision, not Polish, so we have nothig with it. Complicated and controversial. ;)

Galeria Kaskada is located in place of (un)famous "Kaskada" restaurant, cafe and ballroom complex, which was destroyed by a fire at 27.01.1981, with 14 fatalities. That was one of most known tragedies in Szczecin after war. There is even a memorial plate next to the one of the entrances.

People are at home school or work dude 🙉 No one thanks the drivers because there is no need. They don't let you cross because they are nice its because they will get fined that's the new law. People look at you weird because you laugh to them and have a camera. Most people don't want to be filmed or talked to and they want privacy. If you want to meet people just go to the pub at night.

Witam. Odwiedź Cafe22 na wieży PAZIM / hotel Radisson SAS. Jest tam restauracja na 22 piętrze tej wieży z pięknym widokiem na całe miasto. Warto też przyjechać do Gryfina i pokazać Krzywy Las. Najstarszy bar Pasztecik w Szczecinie. Nie kupisz tego nigdzie na świecie. Możesz to zjeść tylko w mieście Szczecin. Greetings from Szczecin. Pozdrawiam.

I think that most interesting tourist attraction in Szczecin is WAŁY CHROBREGO PROMENADE (CHROBRY EMBANKEMNTS). Unfortunately this place is beautiful and full of people especialy in Summer. On opposite site of the Bay, you could might visit HOLIDAY PARK SZCZECIN with a big Wheel , but now is closed.

Bro - you have to remember it is winter. People aren't likely to want to stop and chat and get to know you, and they're not going to be outside just chilling and having a beer in the cold. It's a different vibe in the summer. There is a reason people in SE Asia were so friendly to you. Hard to be mad in a beautiful location with warm weather. Honestly dude, I'm getting kind of bummed for you watching you walk around Poland by yourself in this video. Hop on a plane and head south - go enjoy Greece or Italy for a couple of months and come back to Poland in the summer.

Szczecin and Gdańsk are port cities. That's why you feel the atmosphere of a small town and even a village 😉
There are ports here, so there are many manual laborers.
I lived and studied for 3 years in Gdańsk, I lived with my grandmother in the city center. I felt like in a small town.
I was born in Łódź, I recommend this city to you. I will be here forever. Come in summer please.
Lodz has the vibe of a big city like Warsaw, but is much quieter and cleaner than Warsaw. There are many students from other countries, so you won't be alone.
I recommend big cities. Life is slower in Łódź than in Warsaw, a lot of young people, children and students, not only employees and grandmothers 🚢
I❤ Lodz 🌉 Welcome! Even live permanently or rent. Now they're building us a subway and we've got a train that goes all the way through the city.
My stop in line is the name of my neighborhood. Radogoszcz East❤

Szczecin doesn't really have city centre and that's its problem. Ppl complain that there isn't anything happening here. The truth is the city life wakes up in the summer near the river or in the night in Deptak Bogusława area or in clubs
